I have never seen this photo of DG before. He does look kind of old and frail. Could he really carry around over 200lbs of dead weight?
I don't think he looks old and frail .... I think he looks like he's unsure of his step given he's handcuffed and it's just stepping out into bright sunlight. JMO [emoji4] He's wiry but I saw another photo where you can definitely see the muscle definition in his arms.

Just noticed no laces in his runners.

I totally agree that he does not look old or frail. And there have indeed been a few pictures of him that show he has a lean but seemingly strong physique.

I wonder if he used those missing shoe laces for a possibly evil purpose? He may have brought enough rope or zip ties for AL and KL, but if he didn't expect NO to be there, maybe he had to improvise :(

I can't help but think, that many people are giving DG waaaaaay too much credit. He is far from a mastermind.... He used his own vehicle to case and carry-out the homicides, obviously left trace evidence at his home and/or truck, and was apprehended defying a court order, returning to where evidence had been collected. Also, unlike many homicides of this nature, he was arrested after a very short period in the investigation.

Therefore, I can only surmise that the disposal of the victims was more simplistic in nature such as dumping. IMO, that is why LE have focused their search where they have. The suspect has failed at everything he ever did.... This time is no exception.
Yes!!!!! I think in the end we're going to find out that things were a lot more simple .... I think they usually are. People keep using words like genius and mastermind and I just don't see it. No one in MSM or LE have described him in those terms, he has been described as intelligent and that is all. If he was a real mastermind who meticulously planned this he would have been watching the house very closely and noticed that JO came with two kids and left with one. One of the characteristics of a psychopath is impulsivity. In this case I think he may have stewed and fantasized for a while but I think his impulsivity really shows in the stupid mistakes he's made.

Shoelaces are removed in custody especially under suicide watch.

Muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid and is in every Home Depot in my area in gallon jugs(I checked).

Hydrofluoric acid is sold in auto parts stores as wheel cleaner and possibly hardware stores as it is used in glass etching. I don't think its possible to buy large quantities without someone being suspicious tho.

Lye is readily available in hardware stores and farm supply stores as it is the most common thing used on animal carcasses.

In Breaking Bad Jesse is wearing a gas mask and rubber/plastic gear so I think it is realistic that DG could have done the same. I have a mas like that here from doing home renovations.

Here are some informative links. Not for those with weak stomachs tho....

Er, you do realize that TV shows take liberty with the truth?

When I worked at the lab we once received a sample of HF acid from a client and ended up sending it back to them without processing it. No one wanted to work with it because we didn't have proper equipment to handle it in spite of being a Level II bio lab and in spite of our corrosion testing department regularly handling H2S. We wouldn't even have been able to dispose of it properly according to WHMIS and TDG rules. I remember the lab staff being quite stressed about it until it was safely off site.

(The lab had three separate departments and the lab personnel were chemists, microbiologists and corrosion specialists.)

He looks like about 5'8'', and 150 lbs. I wondered that too, if you remember my early comments but my first impression was based on the first sketch. One of my sons is built like that, very lean with long muscle, into martial arts and could 'take' anybody.

If we could find some aerial photos with a house behind his parents property it would give a better understanding of it.

I think LE were in pursuit of DG and the pursuit ended on the porch. To me this is nothing to do with the neighbours, he was running and it ended on the porch. Most likely he was trying to access his own property.

I think he's taller than that because it would make the officer behind him about 5'4". Not too many officers that short.

I haven't read anything in msm indicating the truck was covered in blood. The way the L's home has been described, you would think the truck would have been soaked in blood.

Even if DG had hosed the truck out, LE would still have been able to detect if any blood had been there, I would think?

I wonder if DG have any type of electronic paper trail in the weeks prior to the murder and also wonder if he owned a cell phone.

I am not sure if this has been discussed yet but I have thought over and over that DG injected the grandparents, possibly NO with a drug or mixture that either killed them or paralyzed them enough to move them. Maybe it didn't take effect immediately or they woke when it happened, hence a struggle. Once they were out of it he removed them. What I would also speculate is that he takes them somewhere and they come-to or they are dead and he goes on with whatever his plan was.

Yes, perhaps GPS record from the cell phone indicate he might have been casing out either the L's home or some other remote dumping grounds?

Ugh! This is so sickening and frustrating !!!

Well all Airdrie hotels except one are at that end of the city with the rest actually being closer.

I recall a photo of the hotel in some newsfeed... Cant recall which hotel or media outlet. I believe it was a tall hotel maybe 4 or 5 floors and colorful, red, blue, beige... If i can find it I will post it.

I think it is more likely LE took his laces so he would not have an opportunity to harm himself.

I suspect that DG may have risked using the old, stolen ID from his first crime, due to a panic situation in dealing with what went down at the Liknes home. By doing so, LE were made aware of this, and had reason to arrest him after questioning.

They will know for what purpose he used the stolen ID, and it may point to significant, incriminating evidence against him. It may explain why LE feel that the missing family is deceased, and it may provide additional circumstantial grounds for charging him for murder.

I could never understand why he would be caught with the same ID that was on record, and contributed to his earlier prison sentence. Desperation is the only logical reason, unless he is plain loco.

Just knowing the locations for gas transactions for his truck would tell LE the areas he has been in.

Also wondering if DG has a storage locker somewhere that he has rented, under another name.

LOl yes I do know TV shows are often removed from reality but this is a man who at one time manufactured meth so he would have to have been familiar with the safety procedures.

This is actually incorrect. Google maps show a line of hotels which is a little deceiving... I reside in Airdrie and the Motel 6 is the only hotel that would put DG in a good walking distance from the property and possibility of avoiding the RCMP. This hotel just opened not long ago and DGs choice in this location was very well thought out. It is a short walk across the highway and into some fields where you could travel completely undetected. There are a few hotels off East Lake Ave and a few spread out at the other end of the highway headed south. None put him as close as this one and as easily accessible to the property. All other hotels would force him to walk through a busy city and risk being seen. Very well planned on his part. I have been following this forum since the beginning and would like to thank everyone for the insight and thoughts. This is my first time posting so be gentle...I am still learning the ropes.

Not that it matters, but I'm 5'8" and that's where the top of my head hits my exterior door. He's also standing in front of the constable, and DG is stooped. Not that it matters a smidge :)
