I think it's very unusual that she needed to use a jerry can given that she was no more than 20 minutes from a gas station at any time. There's really no explanation for a 22 year old who drove across Canada to unexpectedly run out of gas on a 30 mile highway. Is it weird to anyone else that JM needed to use a jerrycan? Is it strange that JM would plan a trip and then run out of fuel? **Noting I assume the car needed refueling and that this was the "car trouble" she'd pulled over for. Witnesses who drove past said they spotted JM with a can at the side of the van.
Is it possible that while JM was parked at the retreat, someone siphoned her vehicle? I've heard that drug addicts do this kind of thing. It just seems weird to me that anyone would travel that far without refueling and even with a jerrycan, she wasn't going off road into the bush. Idk.
Siphoned her gas, or added water to the gas tank? I'm not sure how it works, but putting some water in the gas tank will eventually stall the vehicle. It doesn't break down right away, but once it does, it doesn't start.
