A burner phone wouldn't help. It actually doesn't matter how they updated instagram, once police became aware that Instagram was updated, they could go to Instagram and get the IP address for the update. They would then know where the update originated. But of course K&B would be long gone by then...
Yes, the police could have traced it. However they burned the car about four hours later and -- if there was a burner phone -- probably the phone with it (or otherwise disposed of the phone beforehand). So most likely the police weren't able to actually use that tracking for anything.
Does anyone know how the butterflies were added to the pic?
Most likely a Snapchat filter at the time the photo was taken.
This is pretty huge in my view. We wondered how this ended and now we have our answer. BS was removed from AS by the authorities and returned against his will to Port Alberni. Mom exerting her custodial rights. That is exactly the type of thing that could fuel a rage against an unjust society.
The thing is, there's sort of third-party corroboration? If it was just him saying it I'd be like "yeah ok whatever" and not just believe it at face value. But:
a) he has a lawyer working pro bono on this case who keeps talking about the need for an inquest,
b) in the interview with Bryer's neighbor, she talks about his life from ages 11-13 (ie. when Bryer's dad was long out of the picture), she says he had a terrible home life and she still feels bad for him, and makes allusions to various things.
I'm not saying Ste-Croix made it all up, but it still makes me suspicious all these weeks later.
The thing is, the RCMP said they confirmed Ste-Croix's sighting at the time when it happened, which means they believed him. But then it wasn't in the report. But since the report was only a summary of the findings, it's possible they left it out because all the other sightings were confirmed with surveillance footage and that one wasn't. Like it wasn't really necessary to prove the route they took.
Particularly the; "Mom and dad told me to go on a long joy ride." comment. Who talks like that?
That's actually very believable to me. It's always sounded to me like a line someone would say in a movie and people would roll their eyes because it was chewing the scenery. Now that we know it was planned and that these guys were super dramatic and cinematic about what they did, and trying to have notoriety, it makes total sense that Kam would say that.
One more thing, if they allegedly never turned their phones on from the 17th onward, why is Bryer checking his phone in the Fairview photo on the 20th?
We don't know for sure that's what he was doing...but it sure looks like it, doesn't it?
Good point! Does McDonald’s have tablets for customer use?
I don't think so? I haven't been to a McDonalds in like 10 years though LOL.
@NJSleuth91 that timeline seems about right.
Yeah I think we can say that the changing of the picture actually did happen, and most likely happened on the 22nd. Multiple accounts have corroborated it and if you said it happened, I'm going to believe you. The questions are:
*Who changed it? Was it actually Kam and Bryer, or someone hacking into Bryer's profile for trolling purposes, or what?
*If it was Kam and Bryer, what device did they use to change it? Because from what the police said, it wasn't either of their main phones that were used for that.
*Did the police know about it and just didn't put it in the report for the reasons I stated?
This feels like that old copypasta meme, "THEN WHO WAS PHONE?!"
