What I find scary is the sheer numbers.
You go to Doenetwork and look at every year since the 1930's...things really picked up from the mid '60's on.I mean Good Lord....
 
The cases that bother me the most, lately, are the ones where a teenager has gone missing and it's presumed they are a runaway, even though their parents/friends are insistent that they would have no reason to run and nowhere to go, and they took nothing with them. Deborah Adargas is a good example of what I am talking about.

Thank you Steadfast! I knew that they hadn't and never will. I don't know the family personally, I just always have thought that it was such a sad thing to lose two loved ones so brutally and then for no one to ever be charged. I know it's happened to many other people. It's awful and I don't know how people survive it.
I've always looked at the pictures of the missing, It's such a tragedy that so many just disappear and are never seen again. And some to never be missed! Everyone should be missed, to have one person who loves them, to have one person who cares if they are found.
 
This is a question that could go on for almost ever .where do u start and end is it murders or people missing , murders but to children or to women kids that are missing wow its endless and iam sad to have to say that it is endless. I can say for myself the unsolved missing most likely murdered are the ones that really get to me and maybe the more recent ones then say the ones when i was younger i think they hit you a little different depending on your age so for me some would be jon benet and madeline mcann jennifer kesse tara grienstead and maura murry, leaha hickman . One case that really bothers myself is little jessica lunsford knowing what he did and her being barried alive is almost to much for me to handle i can not imagine what its like for her parents. there has been a few cases latly like this naveh buccanen and amber bubois . Iam sure there is alot more maybe ill add some more at a leter time.
 
There are quite a few cases that haunt me; most of them are local to Southern California the area where I live (sorry).

I would like for the (Original Night Stalker) murders of Dr. Robert Offerman and Debra Alexandra Manning; Lyman and Charlene Smith; Patrice and Keith Harrington; Manuela Witthuhn; Cheri Domingo and Gregory Sanchez; and Janelle Cruz to be solved and for the relevant information to be known. I was searching for information about this and that is how I initially found Websleuths.

Also would like to know who murdered Patricia Neufeld in Garden Grove in 1978 and their motive. I thought that her murder might be related to the ONS murders, but I may be alone in this belief.

There are several people who were murdered by Randy Kraft and have never been identified; I would really like to see these people identified. Ideally, I would like to know who all the entries on the list found in Randy Kraft’s car are –

John Doe who hung himself at the El Rancho Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on June 14, 1999. This guy always looked like someone with the first name Vincent to me and I would have been tempted to call him “Vincent Doe.”

I see this thread was bump.

There are a lot cases that haunt me. What happen to all the missing children and unsolved murders of children.

What monsters walk upon our children that never been caught... Nevaeh Buchanan monster has never been caught. How many children has he murder by now?

I been thinking about Kyron Horman how he disappear from a crowded school...
that really scare the crap out me and make me scare for my own children.

The Boy In The Box has always bothered me.

Also, when I was a student at Ohio State, a young lady, Stacy Beth Colbert, went missing. Years later, they found her body in another county, near Delaware, Ohio. Outside of a single witness hearing a scream on the night she disappeared from her apartment in Columbus, nothing.
 
Consecutive post on here, but after reading every single post and looking up the majority of cases presented here, I've got to say that the Maura Murray disappearance is over-the-top disturbing.

After reading several online articles, etc., there seem to be a number of plausible theories:
1) Intentional disappearance
2) Suicide--I realize that the family vehemently denies 1 and 2, but I do know from experience that both seem to happen from somebody who just "wouldn't possibly do it."
3) Exposure
4) CHI--the closed head injury. It does seem possible that erratic behavior reported by witnesses could have been caused by some sort of head trauma during a car accident. If witnesses are correct that they saw her 4 or 5 miles down the road, suddenly darting off onto a road, it is, at the very least, curious.
5) Someone took her. I know that the father received a jack knife from somebody and it was never followed up on.

After reading what I have, the red herring to me seems to be the mysterious, disturbing phone call that sent her home from work at 1AM, and then telling her friends/classmates that she had a death in the family--one that hadn't occurred. That and the phone call to her boyfriend a couple of days after her disappearance.

Still, my thought is that she might have had some sort of emotional trauma and snapped--or did receive some sort of injury in one of the two car accidents--wandered off and perished due to exposure. I'm not familiar with the area it happened in, but having been deep in the wilderness in West Virginia, I know that it is possible for people to be lost, for a long doggone time.
 
A lot of the unidentified cases seem to resonate with me, especially people who have been unidentified for 20+, 30+ years. Someone must know these people. One in particular that touched me was this case of a boy in Louisiana in 1975 who was found on Valentine's day hanging from a tree. He left a suicide note in a jar next to the tree. It was extremely articulate, asking to be cremated as John Doe, and with some heartbreaking lines like

"It is best if I cease to live, quietly, than risk that later I will break and shatter by violence or linger years under care. I implore you to see a psychiatrist in order that you might understand my death and my life. Ask thoroughly about what I was and you will see that it is not tragic that I am gone, but more natural than if I continued."

and

"I was born with a definite pervasive melancholy . . .what frustrated me most in the last year was that I had built no ties to family or friends. There was nothing of lasting worth and value. I led a detached existence and I was a parody of a person - literally and figuratively. I didn't tell jokes - I was a joke".

So sad. Someone must know who it is....Same for all of these cases. The work posters do in the Unidentified forum is so inspiring and hopefully some more will be named.

I didn't know about this young man until I read your post. I couldn't find his information on the Doe Network or NamUs. Do you know if anyone has posted a sketch or reconstruction of him to compare against missing people?

There is another unidentified suicide that I forgot to include in my original post. A young woman who jumped onto the Long Beach (710) Freeway on August 2, 1975.

Hi Ambercat, there is nothing on Doe or NamUs that I could see either and judging from posts in that thread from way before I joined the site there has been nothing on there in the past either. There is very little about it online. Just the same AP article published in several newspapers on the same day back in 1975 but nothing else unfortunately.
 
Well I think Its safe too say that the case that ended today with a NOT GUILTY VERDICT to Casey Anthony will haunt us all for ever. Maybe a different reason but none the less what happened today will haunt us ....
 
Definitely for me, my #1 is the Snohomish County Jane Doe who was only a few years older than me and found only a few blocks from my house when I was growing up...

Amy Billig, Coconut Grove,Florida, her mother searched for answers for years , it seems the bikers may have taken her.
 
All occured before or in 1996.

William Bradford Bishop -- Killed his mother, wife and three sons in 1976 in Maryland. Former government employee and was last seen in Europe in 1991.

Lynne Brown -- Shot and killed her two sons aged seven and five in Oregon in 1975.

Carl Alfred Eder -- Escaped from a California minimum security prison in 1974 where he was serving time for killing an entire family, including four children aged two, four, six and nine.

Dennis Melvin Howe -- Raped and murdered a nine-year old girl in Toronto in 1983.

Esnel Jean -- Killed his entire family in Miami in 1996. Victims were his wife, 17-year old stepson and five-year old stepdaughter.

John William McGrath -- Escaped from a New Hampshire jail in 1974 where he was serving time for killing his parents and his two brothers aged five and 14.

Sarkis Peltakian -- Intoxicated driver who caused a 1993 freeway accident in Long Beach, killing seven teenagers.

Moises Tinajero -- Wanted for a 1986 triple homicide in Mississippi. He killed a man and raped and murdered two women.

Teobaldo Lopez Villanueva -- Crashed into a Los Angeles patrol car, killing two officers in 1983.

Vincent Walters -- Wanted out of San Diego for the 1988 poisoning death of a young woman and for possessing meth and illegal weapons.
