(((Hugs)))

It seems like prolonged punishment to make the family wait so many years through appeals and the capital process.

I don't understand it either. At least not emotionally.

sigh.....

Exactly. Thanks for the hugs! My family members weren't given any kind of consideration when their lives were taken. Especially the life of a ten year old girl.

Well, one day hopefully he'll be given his sentence. :banghead:

3 mins till show time.. come on over.. Take a break.. It will do everyone some good..Plus we get some juicy info...

Okay, I'm going to try again to put all of my thoughts, theories, explanations and whatever into one post, and see if I can come up with a feasible scenario.

Dylan was texting with R from home and the airport before his flight. Mark picked Dylan up at the airport shortly before 6 pm. Dylan sent a text to Ryan saying his plane had landed, and they talked about their plans (from the article that included copies of their texts). They went to McDonald's to get something to eat and then to Walmart to get food for the visit. While they're there, Dylan asks about going to Bayfield that night, and Mark says it's too late for visiting that night. At about 6:45, R asks if he's coming. Sometime around 7:00 Elaine texts to see if he was picked up. At 7:06, he responds to Elaine saying yes with a "scowling" face. At 7:09, he tells R that he can't go that night. Mark and Dylan head for home, and discuss the possibility of Mark dropping him off in the morning before his appointments.

More texts are sent between the boys, and shortly after 8 pm, Dylan stops responding because he's still trying to work things out with Mark, possibly whether he'll be spending the night with R or going back home at night, what time he'll be picked up (if he has to return), when he'll have to be up if he wants to go in the morning, etc. They get home, and go inside. Mark throws the football to Dylan, trying to cheer him up, but Dylan just throws it back at him and plops down on the couch . He turns on the tv and falls asleep.

The next morning, Mark tries to wake him up, but he's still tired and cranky. Eventually he tells him he'll have to go now or wait until he gets back. Dylan tells him he'll wait (in whatever words they used), and Mark leaves at 7:30. Dylan wakes up at about 9:00, turns on the tv and gets a bowl of cereal. He decides he doesn't want to wait for his dad to get home, so he goes outside to see if he can see anyone around who could give him a ride. He tries to call R to let him know, but realizes that he fell asleep without putting his phone on the charger and it's dead. About that time, someone comes by and sees him out there. Since he knows that one of Mark's vehicles is gone, he assumes that Dylan is alone. He stops and asks if Mark is there, and Dylan says no, and then complains about having to wait until at least 11 for a ride and that his phone is dead.

The guy offers to take him to R's house, and Dylan accepts the ride because he knows the guy lives around there and knows his father (since he stopped supposedly looking for him.) I think the fishing pole is just a fluke - Mark is out of town a lot, and some kid could have taken it without him noticing it was gone until he was looking for Dylan.

All just my conjecture, but I'm trying not to make too many assumptions.

I am wondering if the FBI/Task Force has thoroughly assessed the neighbors. Hopefully they did look very closely at the RSO down the road. But what about the other neighbors, who might have seen Mark leaving that morning?

I know they went door to door---but what do they really do? How closely do they investigate the neighborhood.

For example, do they ask people if their neighbors cars were there that morning? And if they saw them come or go? Are there any cameras on any of the cabins?

I think that can be a fairly big problem in an area where neighbors aren't always real close, and so many homes are only used seasonally. I'd be real surprised if most people there knew much about what the people living on either side of them are doing most days. In addition, a lot of people would already be at work by that time of the morning.

I have an uncle who lived in an area with really lousy cell service for years (he still owns property in the area). If a cell phone isn't turned off when not in use there, or almost constantly being charged, the batteries go dead very quickly. I know people much older than 14 who are forgetful at times, but I can't remember who at the moment! :blushing: I've seen nothing stated in MSM, or even on FB, that says that his father drank when he was visiting, or that he's ever harmed him during a visit. MOO

I can always tell when I am travelling and my cell phone is searching for service. Airports are truly hard on them, then to be travelling to an area with poor coverage just sucks the life out of the battery.

So are most Walmarts from what I've seen. A few relatives, my son's girlfriend and my housekeeper's husband have all worked at different Walmarts, and all had to go outside or to one certain corner of the store to use their phones.

Agreed. I wonder if he was playing games on his phone? That will really dry it up. Still think it would be charged immediately though....if he made it to MR's...

His phone was not on after 8pm so he could not of seen them texts.

Also he was awake as MR states he said ok when he said he would pick him up at 11.30am.

As others have pointed out, active phone != switched off phone. Also, this just ocurred to me, if his friend had that feature active where you get a text or pop up after the other person receives your text, maybe he could know whether those texts ever got through and if so, when. That would tell us whether the phone was off and if it was switched on at any time. However, it's a feature that many people have switched on since it's kind of annoying to get alerts for every text you send plus it's not active by default on most recent phones so many people don't activate it.

I didn't know Dylan was awake; I remember reading in the old thread that Dylan said that while half-asleep or whatever but if he was awake my hypothesis still holds - he was upset that his father was leaving without him, decided to wait or hitchike there (possibly prompted by the texts) and was abducted. Dylan being awake but upset or trying to surprise his friends would still explain the lack of replies if he saw the texts but didn't say anything.

Edit: I wanted to clarify, as I said before I don't think it's weird that he wouldn't have replied but it depends on what his costumary style of communication was like. Many of my friends would not reply if they missed a ride unless I was specifically waiting for them and more likely than not they would text me instead if they managed to find a ride earlier (so if Dylan managed to hitchike or whatever) or when they were on their way. Or his phone could be dead as people have pointed out. IMO and as I said in the old thread, the best way of checking it out would be for LE to ask his friends if gaps if their usual interaction ran along these lines.

When looking at pictures of MR's property I noticed a for sale sign across the way. I don't know if a home or lot was for sale. It didn't show the property just the edge where the sign was.

I always wondered what kind of traffic that generated.

I saw that picture too. And then I wondered the same thing you did. But someone sleuthed that For Sale property, and it is actually around the corner. The sign is there, but not the actual property. [ According to what a member here posted previously.]

I think it was Ransom, but I can't remember for sure, who said that there is no house there. It may be a home with a lot of land, or it could just be land. MOO

ETA: Thanks katydid23.

Playing games makes sense since he was on a plane ride and I don't think he could text or chat!

Whether he was playing games, talking or texting, if the phone was on, it would be looking for a signal. MOO

OT

I just wanted to say i am glad Cole was found safe , really nice that we do sometimes get a great outcome on this site.

So was i!!! In alot of ways with Dylans endless energy that has been described amoung other things, Cole made me think of Dylan and vice versa.

Except if you turn it on 'airline mode.'

(And come to think of it, for all we know Dylan's phone was switched to airline mode. It could have been left on.)

Still nothing new.....heavy sigh....
