I'm sure there are some people circling the wagons and have lawyers on retainer now.
Wonder when the first lawsuit will be.

A frequent cause of lawsuits surrounding the death of a child is not for money, but to get the "why". This is the case in the medical field and I think it could carry over to other areas too. When my son was killed in an auto accident, I wanted to file a lawsuit against the EMS company because of records I received showing that no care was given to my son even though a witness was begging for help for him. I didn't want any money, I wanted to know why! I still want to know why and it's been over 9 years now.

On HLN the video game that AL was obsessed with was World of Warcraft

Those are not what I expected when I heard violent video games. What is the source, any idea? I just having to ask now- this case has been pretty random with the information.

What kind of bar was it? Bar and grill, where she might eat dinner?

Visiting a bar 2 - 3 times a week seems excessive to me!

It's mostly a restaurant with a bar inside. She was said to have ordered a drink with her meal at times. If you haven't lived in New England, this might seem weird... but the diner and pub culture is completely different there. it's not unusual at all to have "your place" and be there a few times a week. You know the other regulars, and it just works. I miss it!!

On CNN: Her friends stated that she would have locked up her guns. "She was far too smart to leave the guns laying around."

(Apparently she didn't adequately hide the keys.)

Or, AL had his own set of keys!

Oh Isabelle, I am so sorry!

Did they say he shot her with the Bushmaster? 4 times?
With hollow point bullets?
I don't recall... I thought he shot her
with gun that was found in the backseat!!!
in order to get the Glock, Sig and Bushmaster...
Oh my!
If so ........nevermind... just wow!

If he was so smart she couldn't hide a key from him anyway...
IMO
yes they were hollow point bullets they just never said the words.
"The chief medical examiner has said the ammunition was the type designed to break up inside a victim's body and inflict the maximum amount of damage, tearing apart bone and tissue."

Sounds like the bar was more of a restaurant and at many places like that, you often go to the bar to get your pickup order. Usually you have to wait a bit for your order so you sit and the bar and wait. If you go there often enough, you get to know the regulars there, even if you don't drink alcohol.
Adam may have been a picky eater so she went there because she knew he liked the food there (or maybe she did). I don't see anything particularly alarming about her being there because it has been described as more of a restaurant by a WS poster here who is familiar with the place.

I really don't see that household having been run as a real tight ship, albeit that's an observation made after the fact.

~ Respectfully snipped ~
I was surprised myself, Abby. ESRB rates Warcraft as teen. My husband plays FPS (first person shooter) games a lot. That's what I think of when I think violent video games.

I'd also point out that IF she was "stockpiling" stuff and turning her home
into a "bunker" as the sis n law said...
I HIGHLY doubt she had any plans to move anywhere.

IMO people who hunker down ... stay.

so again two stories... one likely untrue.

I don't get the impression they knew whether she did or not. They were just guessing.

I would take anything an in law says after a divorce with a grain of salt, because its likely to be skewed

Just jumping off from your post:

A few years ago I went on a (not vegetarian) diet that made me CRAZY. All healthy food, too, nothing where I just ate cookies or anything. But it was very low-fat and very low-carb.

Normally I am calm, laid-back, rarely lose my temper...but while I was on this diet someone cut me off for a parking spot and I parked and waited for her to get out of the car and then confronted her! I had NEVER done anything like that before and I haven't since.

My point being, I definitely think diet and mental well-being are connected. I was vegetarian for years and years and suffered greatly from depression. After I started eating meat again, the depression eased although I still have to take medication to control it.

I'll just sign in as a vegetarian for 18 yrs, vegan for 4 and very mentally stable. For goodness sake. MOO.

I've always wondered if he killed her to get the key possibly from her necklace?

He shot her. So he already had access to guns before he killed her. He wouldn't need to kill her to get a key.

This is what we call a popularity piece. It was written to lay people, it popularizes your name, it helps your career. It does not negate what he is doing in the research community.

Oh no you di'int just dis the validity of new research? :floorlaugh:
Seriously, research has a place. When I finish my graduate work, I intend to go into neurology research rather than clinical. That's where my heart is.

I never said research doesn't have a place. What I am saying is that at this time, we know very little on how brain works.

I have seen some really good talk about AL's various afflictions, be it autism or what not. Good talk about his mom's life style, be it the restaurant or gun collecting. Good talk about video games.

I truly apologize for having to ask, but these threads move fast and I can't get through all the threads, but has there been any talk about why AL went to the school that morning and killed so many innocents? Also, why there as opposed to a mall or a movie theater? TIA

Thats great that she locked them up, but was the key accessible to AL. It was stated that he went to the driving range on his own as well. Did he go to the locked cabinet and get the guns out or did she hold the key on her.

you mean he'd taken up golfing as well?!?:floorlaugh:..OK, sorry..lol..Of course its obvious what you meant..I just thought a moment of humor was possibly in need..lol

I haven't seen this discussed but I wondered that myself. Could it be possible that this is the closet "place" to his home to committ such mass destruction? I haven't seen that discussed either.

Billions of people are vegetarian and vast majority of them don't kill anyone.

A vegan diet is much more restrictive than a vegetarian one, but I am not saying a vegan diet would necessarily cause this behavior. But if he already had underlying nutritional deficiencies--like low levels of zinc or B6 or iron--a vegan diet could be very detrimental. Especially if his mother didn't know how much would have to be supplemented to replace any dairy or animal fats or protein. Vegetables and legumes, while very healthy and important, of course, are not nearly as nutrient-dense in some of the important vitamins/minerals as meat, eggs or dairy. It just takes much more work to duplicate this with a vegan diet, and some people's bodies are not built to run off of vegan diets (other people's are)--they can't get all the nutrients they need to function well.
