Hokkaido woman infected with coronavirus served lunch at local elementary school - The Mainichi

Hokkaido woman infected with coronavirus served lunch at local elementary school.

Also in the article "In Hokkaido, nine people in their 20s to 80s have been confirmed infected. According to the prefectural government, a student in her 20s is in serious condition and is on a ventilator."

Yikes on the 20 year old on a ventalator...
Guess the idea that children are more resilient is about to be tested......I hope so....this would be the biggest tragedy....

China BANS eating wild animals amid fears the practice sparked coronavirus outbreak

China's top legislative committee on Monday passed a proposal to ban all trade and consumption of wild animals, a practice believed responsible for the country's deadly coronavirus outbreak.

I’m glad, I just wish with all my heart that the ban extended to cats and dogs.

I was beginning to rejoice,
finally something is right with the world,
until I read the exclusion.

It isn’t that difficult to understand how someone older than 80, with compromised lung, cardiac, or immune system can end up incubated and on a ventilator.

It’s quite something else to understand how a 20 yr old student presumably without an underlying significant disease process becomes that ill.

It will still be a form of COVID-19, but perhaps classified as a different "strain". As to mutations requiring multiple vaccines, depends on where the mutation is on the RNA and if that specific vaccine was developed to target the part that changed.

Think of the "everyday flu virus" and the vaccine for such. We know it mutates year to year, so the current vaccine is really one vaccine with a mixture against different past flu virus *strains*,...it's like many vaccines in one, and the govm't/private industries guess which strains are going to go worldwide each year. MOO

Thank you @dixiegirl1035 !

Here’s hoping they choose the right target when they do create a vaccine.

Seventh case of COVID-19 confirmed in B.C.
A man in his 40s has tested positive for the new coronavirus strain in the Fraser Health district.
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in B.C.

A man in his 40s has tested positive for the new coronavirus strain in the Fraser Health district. Health officials say he had contact with “case number six.” He is in stable condition and is in isolation at home.

B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said on Monday it’s concerning that cases are rising abroad, pointing to spikes in places like South Korea in recent days.

A British Airways flight to Milan was delayed just moments before departure Monday morning — when one passenger who was “scared of coronavirus” suddenly refused to fly.

The Airbus A319 was set to take off from London Heathrow Airport, but pulled back from its gate when the traveler had their change of heart. The plane returned to the terminal, where the person disembarked.

No one on board was showing symptoms of the virus.

Only one person got off the aircraft, according to reports, but NBC News journalist Molly Hunter, who was on the flight, tweeted that three people on board expressed coronavirus fears.

“At #Heathrow, our BA #Milan flight is delayed – the captain just announced there are passengers (I count 3) on board who don’t want to travel due to #coronavirus,” Hunter wrote. “Already pushed back… now re-attaching.”

Now I'm really confused....,,what happened to the headline, "WHO doesn't have this category"? How strange.....maybe they tried to evade and it didn't work.....

They are just trying to move the goalposts around. Everyone knows what this is. Even if they have decided that they no longer use "The Word That Shall Not Be Named".

"[Dr. Bonnie Henry ] added the COVID-19 outbreak now meets the "classic definition" of a pandemic, but noted the question now is whether the spread of the virus can be contained."

ETA
from the Latin pandemus, eh?

Since the ports in Italy have been open to tourists on cruises and the virus has been circulating there, there is the risk that it was brought back to a cruise ship unknowingly. I hope that it is NOT THE CASE. Again.
But could this be?

Well this has popped up again..
Did coronavirus outbreak begin from infectious disease lab in Wuhan?
February 24, 2020
''A specialist infectious disease laboratory located in the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak in China may in fact be ground zero for the disease.

China’s only Level 4 microbiology lab is facing increasing scrutiny after the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology released a new directive titled “Instructions on strengthening biosecurity management in microbiology labs that handle advanced viruses like the novel coronavirus.”

“It sure sounds like China has a problem keeping dangerous pathogens in test tubes where they belong, doesn’t it?” argues Steven W. Mosher, president of Virginia-based Population Research Institute, in the New York Post.

The National Biosafety Laboratory, located in the Wuhan Institute of Virology, is the only lab equipped to handle deadly coronaviruses. And Wuhan is at the centre of the outbreak, with nearly 77,000 people infected and more than 2,500 deaths in China.''

WAIT FOR IT, omg! rbbm.
“The virus may have been carried out of the lab by an infected worker or crossed over into humans when they unknowingly dined on a lab animal,” Mosher writes.
