I'm absolutely shocked that some people are still of the mind set that it should be 'each to their own' and to wear a mask or to not wear a mask Hmmm, decisions decisions!! Just NO, Do you know if my Father gets infected with CV19, HE WILL DIE!! As will millions of other Mothers and Fathers around the World. So I dont really care for how selfish a person you were yesterday, or was last week, but today, people need to think beyond themselves. So DONT come infecting MY family whilst we are taking measures to not infect YOURS!! Absolute selfishness of a different kind and anybody who chooses not to wear a mask whilst spouting off about it being their 'right' has lost the brain they were born with and those people need Leadership more than anybody and are also the perfect example of why Governing and guidelines/rules are vital in this World. Every person on this planet has a duty to do what they can to stop the virus spreading beyond themselves. End of. So if people dont care about themselves, there is no chance of them caring for anybody else and to be that person is to be a disgrace! Having the right is not the same as Do What Is Right.. not for you, but for those around you!! For those who do love themselves and who do love others! X

I just order everything online. Don't have to go to the store, don't have to worry about maskless people (my state doesn't require masks). Amazon makes it too easy to spend all your money.

I’ve been using Instacart and the Wal-Mart grocery apps to order all of my groceries/healthcare items since March 14th. I also have a local butcher that delivers all of my meat.

The grocery apps charge a small delivery charge but it’s so worth it. It’s all “no contact”. I put two big coolers on wheels out on my front porch and they put the groceries in the coolers and I just wheel them inside after they leave.

You casinos aren't being shut down because people are complaining about them for no reasons. They are being shut down because number of infected people needing hospital care is going up rapidly, and hospitals are getting full again.
Some people don't care until and unless they need an ICU room and ventilator.

CNN reporter asks the Mayor "if the White House asks" and the Mayor says "it's not about who asks" it is about staying at phase 2 and not allowing large gatherings.

Earlier post said " ... it seems the Mayor disinvited the repubs and said "stay away"...."

Thanks for the link to the actual quotes from the Mayor.

Well, protests are not the driving force behind covid increases. Covid transmits much better inside than outside.
"As the U.S. begins to open back up, coronavirus clusters — where multiple people contract COVID-19 at the same event or location — are popping up all over the country. And despite drawing massive crowds, protests against police violence and racial injustice in Washington state weren't among those clusters."
Parties — Not Protests — Are Causing Spikes In Coronavirus
If someone is standing inches away from an officer's face, and screaming at him, it doesn't matter if it is inside or outside--it still is infectious.

LAPD coronavirus cases spike, adding to debate over role of protests in spread

Coronavirus infections among Los Angeles police officers spiked in recent weeks, reflecting a broader increase in cases regionally and raising fresh questions about the role of protests in the spread.

Police officials have said that officers were exposed on skirmish lines as they worked to disperse screaming crowds. Protesters say officers recklessly arrested people en masse without wearing masks, exposing not just themselves but others.

In the last week, positive cases within the LAPD workforce jumped from 170 to 206, Chief Michel Moore told the civilian Police Commission on Tuesday.

Moore said the bulk of the LAPD employees who tested positive were sworn officers, though dozens were civilian employees. Three have been hospitalized with COVID-19, while many have recovered and returned to work.

After the commission meeting, Moore said he attributed the increase in part “to the challenging conditions officers faced” during the recent protests and demonstrations.

L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer recently said it is “highly likely” that the recent overall increase in positive cases is related in part to the mass protests.

Ferrer also suggested that an increase in social gatherings and the opening of more businesses after weeks of stay-at-home and closure orders has likely played a role. Moore also cited such factors.

It seems that it's all me, me, me. I, I, I. My, my, my. I somewhat knew that we Americans were self-centered and self-absorbed, but to see that philosophy displayed so openly and without shame is really disheartening. I mean, just wow.

Could you remind me what casinos are being shut down? Vegas? Az, Fl, Tx? I am losing track here now.

They opened up Las Vegas casinos too soon.

The casinos here in the northeast, particularly Atlantic City as well as the few in CT, NY and PA have been and still are shut down since mid-March.

Casinos attract risk takers from all over, so are definitely a special case. I feel for the people who have to work there. In Vegas, it's people who are willing to use airports, fly in packed planes, arrive in packed buses, just to go inside an air conditioned space with other risk takers from around the world.

Then, people drink and get disinhibited, and forget even regular common sense about strangers.

That being said, there are hardly any people in Vegas, compared to the usual summer masses. Cases have doubled in two weeks and may double again in one week.

Las Vegas residents are sitting ducks.

I am using amazon prime. There is also amazon fresh, although I can't figure out what is the difference between prime and fresh. They don't charge delivery but you are expected to tip your delivery person (it's all done on-line). They drop the food at the front door.

Another example of how it's done:

The Indian state that got its Covid-19 response right (opinion) - CNN

"While it is known for beautiful backwaters and ayurvedic centers, today Kerala is making headlines due to its success containing Covid-19. Despite the fact that Kerala confirmed its first case of the coronavirus on January 30, the state, with a population of around 35 million, has 3,726 active cases as of Friday, with 22 deaths — about one death per 1.5 million people — as reported by the Indian government."

Much more at link.

Well, I have been so afraid of getting the virus and dying, leaving no one but the state to care for my grandson. It is for him that I have tried so hard to avoid germs. I only have gone to work and the store. My grandson hasn't left the house since school let out on March 13.

My Dad died yesterday, just laying out at the pool. I am picking up a rental car this afternoon and will be driving to San Francisco. I am afraid of the germs in a rental car. I'm afraid of the germs from hugs. I'm afraid of mortuary germs. I am afraid that I have no parents any more, and that I am alone (with my grandson)in this world. Sometimes I really feel that this life sucks. I feel lost, alone, and afraid.

Thanks for listening.

Maybe folks that have never been in a casino in their lives can sit home and ruin that for the rest of us, as well.

Oh dear, MrX, you can casino online, or are a party animal, extrovert and need the human element?

You raise an interesting point. Lockdown is so much more difficult for socially active people than for introverts. Maybe we need a thread on ways to have fun with lots of friends while keeping everyone safe.
