I am local to this area and have been to Harper’s. To be fair, this is more a college bar/ restaurant.
Here is an article from the local news:
How coronavirus spread from East Lansing bar to the Grosse Pointes

“The party was held on a Friday night, parents said. The host was symptomatic during the party, got sicker over the weekend and was tested for COVID-19 on Monday, though didn't share the positive results with friends until Tuesday night, parents said.”

:(

I also found this one intriguing, a four year old article, but it's citing research done at the Max Planck Institute, and suggests that where human populations interbred with Neanderthals, the population acquired some immune genes from the Neanderthals....and populations who didn't come into contact with Neanderthals didn't acquire those genes...so according to this article, different populations around the world have immune systems that can work slightly differently depending on whether they have the Neanderthal version of the immune genes or the non-Neanderthal versions.

I wonder if this could be relevant for the stats showing that populations of different heritages in some countries are seeming to be hit harder, statistically, by Covid-19?

Africans and Europeans have genetically different immune systems... and Neanderthals had something to do with it

It's OK. The host will probably be fine. And I hear the party was Off The Hook!

Not the OP apparently, as it is easy to get everything online so there is no need to go out. As long as you are not a casino addict or a social butterfly, have to work and/or have kids needing taking to school, everyone is perfectly fine being shut in at home indefinitely, clearly is the impression I am getting.
But why should the clinically vulnerable and elderly have to barricade themselves in, while the selfish crowds have all the fun? In doing so, prolong this thing? That cant be right can it?

Perhaps you have missed a few posts along the way?

For me, it can be difficult because I was socially active.
Some days are better than others.
Nights can be harder.
I miss socializing in person with family, friends, coworkers. Talking to people while sitting at a bar in random places.
I miss my job, being a frequent flier (free drinks!) and occasional upgrades.
Going different places.
I miss the excitement that I was finally able to share those perks and go places.
Life is so drastically different since March.
Dancing with myself.
Yup. That is what I'm doing this Friday night.
There is wine involved in this dancing. Quite a bit.
I want to give San Diego kudos.
Everyone is wearing a mask everywhere.
I'm on my little sailboat and there are parties going on. I declined, because I adore my husband who nearly died a year ago.
Nothing would be worse for me then infecting the love of my life.
BUT, I can still turn up the radio and dance by myself.
I see this virus everywhere. Whatever I do, I consider this frigging virus following me and waiting for a chance to invade me and most importantly my beloved.

I got the impression you didnt want to leave the house at all and that was why you shop for everything on line. So you never pop into a shop on your way back from work?

It wouldn't matter much. No matter how careful you are. I am very careful, only going to work, home, a few shopping trips. Always masked, gloves, hand sanitizer.

All it would take, is for one of my coworkers to have a kid, who goes to bars and parties. My coworker catches it, pretty sure, I would get it too. Makes all of my precautions seem stupid.

No, I don't pop into the shop. And at my job everybody is supposed to wear a mask.
Ironically, here in the UK I have worked from home since mid March. Half of our employees at my work are still on furlough. So not much shop popping going on here either. I never realised I would miss office chit chat, who knew.

I have to do a supermarket shop tomorrow. Even though I hope I have antibodies, I was just thinking must take wipes, dont push elevator button with hand, hope its not raining as I queue outside...

No, but it is what the government are advising and have done since March. But I don't think it is being prolonged by the selfish ones, they are helping with the herd immunity by spreading it aren't they? If we don't get a vaccine or herd immunity, that is the reality for the vulnerable.
