That would be the height of arrogance for them to laugh at us, considering how it all started.

But at the same time they contained this virus and showed the rest of us how to contain it, and we didn't listen and now we both have a ridiculously higher infection and death rate. Their strict lockdowns and mask wearing worked, so I imagine they're shaking their heads and tutting more than they are laughing.

Everyone has that one friend or relative who ignores sensible advice and ends up in trouble. That's us that is.

I am using amazon prime. There is also amazon fresh, although I can't figure out what is the difference between prime and fresh. They don't charge delivery but you are expected to tip your delivery person (it's all done on-line). They drop the food at the front door.

Unfortunately, we don’t have Amazon Fresh available to us here because we’re in a rural area and too far from any metro area for them to deliver.
I can get regular Prime deliveries but just not groceries. :(

We really do need 2 Americas. One where everybody who wants to get back to normal, and avoid worrying about the virus, can mix together and create "herd immunity." The other America will stay home, quarantine and wear masks in public.

We can reform the Union once the former region fully infects one another.
And this group that ALL decides to stay home. How do they get food and supplies?

My town’s mayor signed an executive order yesterday, mandating masks in all public establishments as my county’s cases have doubled since 6/7. Living in the Deep South, you can imagine how well that is going over with the majority of “good ole boys”. I got tickled when one of them went off on his “rights” being violated, giving in the the liberal left, etc when one person commented to him to just stay in if he doesn’t want to wear a mask. What’s the saying? Turn about is fair play.

Nowdays you don't have to leave home to get food and supplies, as long as you are able to order on-line.
But then his imagined new world, where there are TWO distinct groups of people, cannot happen.

Because the group that chooses to stay home cannot than rely upon those who must go to work and deliver their supplies, etc.

Just trying to point out that the world that the quarantiners depend upon, cannot go on unless someone goes out to work every day.

Oh dear, MrX, you can casino online, or are a party animal, extrovert and need the human element?

You raise an interesting point. Lockdown is so much more difficult for socially active people than for introverts. Maybe we need a thread on ways to have fun with lots of friends while keeping everyone safe.
For me, it can be difficult because I was socially active.
Some days are better than others.
Nights can be harder.
I miss socializing in person with family, friends, coworkers. Talking to people while sitting at a bar in random places.
I miss my job, being a frequent flier (free drinks!) and occasional upgrades.
Going different places.
I miss the excitement that I was finally able to share those perks and go places.
Life is so drastically different since March.

It is. Very different. And the difference will keep happening until the virus is under some kind of control.

To me, it is a bit like waiting for Christmas when a child. We wait and wait for Santa to bring that wonderful thing we want. Until then, we go without it.

BEXAR COUNTY
San Antonio
*EMERGENCY ALERT ISSUED

Another example of how it's done:

The Indian state that got its Covid-19 response right (opinion) - CNN

"While it is known for beautiful backwaters and ayurvedic centers, today Kerala is making headlines due to its success containing Covid-19. Despite the fact that Kerala confirmed its first case of the coronavirus on January 30, the state, with a population of around 35 million, has 3,726 active cases as of Friday, with 22 deaths — about one death per 1.5 million people — as reported by the Indian government."
