Their attorney, Joe Tacopina, said police did not thoroughly investigate witness claims that on the night of the disappearance they saw a man walking near the Irwin home carrying a baby wearing a diaper.

Young said that accusation “is completely false.” Detectives continue their investigation but there are fewer new leads to pursue, he said.

“The detectives have not washed their hands of the case by any means,” Young said.

OMG ... Tacopina needs to "dump" this "invisible man walking around with a baby" bull dinky ... nobody's buying it, Joe !

BBM: Good ... I am glad to hear that detectives are still ON the case ... got that, Deb ? Jeremy ?

Part 2 tomorrow including "what upsets the Irwins the most"

Shouldn't it be obvious? Lisa being missing.
Hope this isnt going to be where they talk about a skeptical media onslaught and the police being mean to them.

DeAnn, any musings among the local press that a shoe (or at least a sock) might be about to drop? Thanks! :seeya:

The focus today is on Joplin. Lots of KC crews are in Joplin right now.

On some days, baby Lisa and her parents doing interviews would be the lead story. Not today. Not this week.

Agreed. And as a former radio news director, my first question would be....is it new? The only thing new here, in my opinion, is that they are opening their pie holes in front of a camera.

Thompson said the man was Brando, not Tanko. And they actively looked at Brando including taking him to police headquarters and he says he took a lie detector test.

I'm sure they didn't waterboard Mr. Brando but what else does Mr. Tacopina want to do? He says Mr. Thompson identified "Jersey Joe" but that's clearly not factually true. I verified this with Capt. Young today. Brando was the focus in Mr. Thompson's interviews, not Tanko.

Now the Fox lady today said the couple said it was a balding man matching the description of Tanko but I've always suspected that police found an iron-clad alibi for Tanko.

I never was able to verify one (rumors had been casino or hospital) and police aren't saying why they "moved on."

Detectives investigated the fraudulent debit card use, said Capt. Steve Young, a Kansas City police spokesman. The card was used to buy stationery but did not appear to be connected to the child’s disappearance, Young said.

“We are not optimistic it is going to turn into anything more than stolen card numbers, at best,” he said.

The words, "at best", interest me. If stolen card numbers is the best case scenario, what's the worst he can expect it to turn into?

:woohoo: I hope it's a BIG shoe ... with a very SMELLY sock ... :woohoo:

So to be clear-LE has moved on from Jersey and Brando-right?

It really rubbed me the wrong way to see DB acting so indignant and declaring they would never stop til Lisa was home. Never stop what? Other than Dr. Phil, how many media appearances have they made to keep Lisa in the public eye the past six months?

I would never say too little, too late for any missing child, but come on - please don't act like you've been front and center, begging for the public to continue to keep an eye out for Lisa all this time. Don't come and tell us a charge was made to a name-change site when LE has already told you that stationery was purchased with the card, not name-change documents. Don't tell us there were three separate sightings of Jersey carrying a baby that night. Pffft.

When deliberate misinformation is put out there - especially after this length of time when the story's gone cold in the media - there's a reason for it.

I am very curious to know what the people who believe SODDI think of this new credit card info?

Well, I have never thought SODDI, but I wanted to say that I call BS on the credit card (debit card) info. I hope LE knows exactly whose computer was used for the 'purchase'.

I can hardly stand to watch the three of them. It honestly does nauseate me and make me angry.

What the three of them are hoping is that people who were not into the case when it happened will believe their spinned version of it now.

MOO, IMO

Agreed. And as a former radio news director, my first question would be....is it new? The only thing new here, in my opinion, is that they are opening their pie holes in front of a camera.

Well, to be fair, they didn't say it was new, they said the police had had the info for a long time and implied the police hadn'd made a big enough fuss about it.

Maybe they were fishing for information, hoping that the police would make a statement about what they know about the debit card?

Another reason to do the interview is because the defense team had finally, after eight months, figured out the reason Deb lied about the drinking and the baby chcking: it was the cameras, she was nervous, and the news media is just entertainment anyway.

I thought the same when she said, "I'll never find Lisa if I break down". It makes sense that she can't break down with two sons to take care of--- but what difference would it make in the search for Lisa? The website hasn't been updated that often, I haven't heard of frequent fundraising activities, the media appearances are few and far between, both the parents and the police have admitted that their contacts have been less than fruitful anyway, they say they have investigators to go after new leads... so if she broke down, what exactly would not get done that is going to find Lisa?

Respectfully snipped & BBM:

I agree ... yes, she was very indignant, and IMO, more so with Megan Kelly ... she does herself "no favors" whatsoever ...

Deb just does not come across as "sincere" and "genuine" at all ... and her "attitude" is really bad ...

JMO and MOO ...

Now the Fox lady today said the couple said it was a balding man matching the description of Tanko but I've always suspected that police found an iron-clad alibi for Tanko.

Megyn Kelly at Fox was referencing the other alleged sighting just after midnight. I have it on good authority that couple is not confident of the description and may have, respectfully, been caught up in the hype.

It would be interesting to compare the sentence Tanko got on the unrelated charges and compare that sentence to the usual, recommended sentence. If there's a big difference, I would say there was a plea deal for information.

I also have it on good authority that LE has some interest in Tanko but not as a primary player.

The "name changing site" would really only benefit JI & DB, no one else would need her name legally changed. If they sold her and agreed to provide a new ID for her, then her name would need to be legally changed. But if she was kidnapped, why would they bother? They would just get a new ID with the name they gave her.

This was not a well thought out smoke screen.

Here's a thought. Why bother to change the name of a baby when that would lead to a paper trail. Why not pay to create a whole new birth certificate with a new birth date.

I would think and this is MO,but its a risky move to put out info that says this card was use at a name changing site when in fact LE says it was used for stationary-if this goes in front of a jury-they are going to ask themselves- if they lied about this-what else are they lying about-and they will have JT to blame-cause he is going along with it!
he is going to get his client covicted!!!

So this sounds very easy to solve. If LE knows what was purchased, Im sure they know where it was shipped. LE has stated that this lead, led them nowhere, so therefore....as they stated...it was just a case of a stolen #.....move on J&D.

Good point. I may use that on my interview tonight on HLN.
