Just watched croaker queen's video of the defense atty and wondered if he(reeves) was allowed a weapon. He said because Reeves is elderly, he is vulnerable and and his life was in danger. and so on, and so on for 10 min. However they won't try it in the media. yeah right.

LAND O’ LAKES — Curtis Reeves Jr. spent seven months in the Pasco County Jail proclaiming his innocence in a fatal movie-theater shooting and fighting for release to await his chance to prove it.

An appeals court sided with him Friday and the 71-year-old former Tampa police captain walked out of the Land O’ Lakes lockup around 8 p.m.

About 25 relatives and friends applauded as he passed through the front doors. He stopped for hugs.

Pasco County Circuit Court Judge Pat Siracusa denied a motion for release after a hearing in February.

But on Friday, the Second District Court of Appeal said Reeves should be released or told why not.

The ruling by Judge Chris Altenbernd of Tampa said Siracusa had not explained his decision and noted that pretrial release is a right under Florida’s Constitution.

“We conclude that he is entitled to some relief,” the ruling said.

“We conclude that he is entitled to some relief,” the ruling said.

Yeah, I'm sure the dead victim, his wife and child would like some "relief" too. What a bunch of crap.

Don't know if this was brought up earlier, but Reeves was actually texting in the theater PRIOR to complaining about Oulson's texting. Murdering hypocrite ...

http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Judge-Sets-Trial-Date-in-Theater-Shooting-274639351.html

Judge Pat Siracusa set a March 2 trial date and said he wants to move the case along as quickly as possible for the sake of the families involved. Another hearing to confirm the date is set for Oct. 15. Siracusa said he expects the trial to last three weeks and garner significant national media attention...

Defense attorneys and prosecutors both told the court they weren't close to any sort of plea deal; an assistant state attorney told the judge that he was seeking life in prison for Reeves, and Reeves' attorney said he was looking for the charges to be dropped.

Curtis Reeves won't be walking into a courtroom anytime soon. The next time we see him, he may be in a wheelchair.

FOX 13 has learned Reeves tripped and fell at home and broke his hip... He had a partial hip replacement, and is recovering at a hospital in Brooksville.

About $7,000 that went missing from a fund established for the family of movie-theater shooting victim Chad Oulson has been returned by a lawyer representing a family friend, an attorney representing Oulson’s family said.

TJ Grimaldi, the Oulsons’ attorney, said the money was returned about a month ago by an attorney representing Joseph Detrapani, who worked with Chad Oulson at SKY Powersports in Port Richey and organized fundraisers after Oulson was shot to death by Curtis Reeves in January.

“I don’t know if Detrapani is the individual who took the money, but he is the one who gave it back to us, through his attorney,” Grimaldi said.

Came n to see if there has been anything new and read it's been 1 year today. It's been a year and there has been no trial or anything done it seems in this case. As for the guy breaking his hip, bet it wouldn't have happened had he stayed in jail. (yes, I am in a bad mood).

--meeting on June 30 to go over any last minute needs.
--August 3, 4, 5 are set aside for immunity motion that will be filed (for who?)

--TRIAL DATE: August 24, 2015

pre-trial hearing 4/30/15

eta........judge is not happy, trial date looks iffy.....

i'm shocked but it really seems it's the prosecution is dropping in last minute witnesses according to this hearing that the defense is having to fit in depositions for.....of course the defense is dragging some too.....

may 28th pre-trial is cancelled......june 30th pre-trial still on for now...keeping trial date for now.....

Judge: Tests on gun in Pasco theater shooting case must be supervised

NEW PORT RICHEY — Attorneys for movie theater shooting suspect Curtis Reeves Jr. will not be able to remove Reeves’ gun from the state’s possession to conduct their own tests, but Circuit Judge Pat Siracusa will allow them to take one of Reeves’ shoes.

Reeves, 72, a retired Tampa police captain, is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 43-year-old Chad Oulson in January 2014. The shooting was preceded by an argument over Ouslon’s texting during movie previews at a Wesley Chapel movie theater while the men were waiting for a matinee showing of the movie “Lone Survivor.”

At issue was whether defense experts could have unsupervised access to the evidence — including Reeves’ shoes and his gun — for five days beginning on Monday. State Attorney Bernie McCabe filed a motion saying they would only release the items for inspection while “under the close supervision” of law enforcement officers to maintain the chain of custody.
