Carl Steinbeck mentioned in his latest YT video that the call records of various parties involved in the murder were never subpoenaed back in 2014 and they now have been. Strange they weren't. Do LE need probable cause, is that why they couldn't do that back in 2014?

Yes. Katherine probably let her know that "Tuto" meant owl, and that he was the actual shooter. Wendi was signaling them back by wearing the owl shirt- Job well done.
The whole idea that Wendi was secretly communicating with Katie or the hitmen just doesn't make sense to me. They knew that Wendi would immediately be considered a suspect in Dan's murder. The scheme depended on having enough separation between her and the actual killers so the police wouldn't be able to connect the dots. It was always Wendi <-> Charlie <-> Katie <-> Sigfredo <-> Luis. Each person only communicated with the next link in the chain.

Even with a burner phone, it would have simply been too dangerous for Wendi to have direct communications with anyone except for Charlie (or Donna). If the police traced the burner it would have been all over for her.

Nice summary !

IIRC during the Murdaugh trial, someone quoted a 2% chance of a 1st degree murder verdict being overturned if the defendant had testified. The odds are not good for CA.

But in CA's case, he can try for an evidentiary hearing and stop the appellate process IF he has some evidence to present that might result in his verdict being overturned. That would include other suspects which to me is unlikely in his case.
IMO, more likely would be an appeal on ineffective assistance of counsel and possible other legal issues.
Which would be odd (ineffective assistance) based on his mothers praise of Rashbaum and what a great job he did (jail calls).I don’t recall Charlie agreeing though. he seems to support the jury consultant and blames the jury not his lawyer. Also from the jail calls Donna is saying how Dan is going to do this and that. He still seems to be the savior for the Adelsons. But you do hear Donna perhaps trying to convince Charlie of how effective Rashbaum was. So we will see.

After listening to some of those calls about the jury, I've got a good mind to write a letter to Charlie, saying that I am his peer, and it wouldn't have taken me three hours! They are so superior, it's maddening!

Charlie is failing to see that it’s his part in the crime that got him where he is, not the jury. Yes, maddening.

By these questions asked by GC of Charlie....I could get the impression she was planting the seed in his mind that WA is your downfall...she was your weakest link.
"“Why did Wendi testify that she was getting along well with Dan Markel prior to his death? Can we agree that wasn’t true?” Cappleman asked.""
"“Is it part of your defense to minimize how nasty and pretentious this divorce was?” Cappleman said and then asked, “Can you trust Wendi with a secret?”

And from same article:
"“Can we agree she obviously knew something about this crime?” Cappleman pushed. “It’s not a coincidence she went to the crime scene, is it?”
"“She pulled up to the crime scene tape,” Cappleman repeated. “It’s like she couldn’t help herself. She exposed you all to some degree by those actions, didn’t she?
“Are you pissed that she told all that stuff to Jeff Lacasse?” Cappleman asked,
I have gone to sleep practically every night listening to CA rants on the actions/connections of the jurors...I think he needs to look closer to home and put the blame where it belongs. Sure it hurts my heart to hear him be so upset about his conviction/situation. But it is by the choices he made. One very bad act can erase a lifetime of achievement....and sadly even erase your future, too.

There's only one Tyto species in the whole of the Americas & Wendi speaks Spanish, not ancient Greek.
STS Georgia Cappelman interview-June 2022 at 44:20 mark Joel mentions the ‘Tuto” owl comment. I knew I heard it there first and just happen to be rewatching her interview.

I agree. They put a lot of thought into the planning of the crime and some elements were well thought out. I think they did a good job of keeping (to some extent) WA out of the loop, as she would be the default prime suspect, being the ex-wife. So on one hand I would be surprised if WA was communicating, directly, with KM. But for every smart move they did, they did 5 moronic things and WA seems to be very impulsive and poorly disciplined, highlighted by her little trip past DM's house, something that will be key in her trial. From what GC has implied, it seems there was WhatsApp communication between WA and KM on the day of the murder. And if so, WA is totally screwed. I think she drove past the crime scene and messaged KM to confirm the hit had been done.

7 Ways to Make a Phone Call without Cell Signal

***And this article was written in 2016...so the processes have been around for a long time... Of all the characters KM, SG, LR, CA, DA, HA or WA, who do you think would/could be the most tech saavy to make the aforementioned occur?

I swore I'd not mention owls ever again but I don't want to be taken as rude for not replying

thanks for the Timestamp to the video.
Yes Joel is reading out a question from viewer called Al - Tuto the Greek word for owl. ( But it actually isn't, unless you're either living 6th Century BCE Greece or have very niche specialist knowledge base. AFAIK Sig, Katie and Wendi are all more familiar with Hispanic languages. You can look up the definitions for Tuto among Hispanic languages)

Anyway, Karm starts laughing and says ' this is coming from somebody from their basement' and Joel says Karm will now get hate mail, Georgia smiles and said she can't really comment but - imo - she throws him a bone saying she noticed the T shirt Wendi was wearing.

Do you know if Georgia ever made the argument in court that Wendi wore a T shirt as a code for Luis's deleted Instagram post or Sig? I don't recall it.

BTW I'd love it if more new details were discovered about any KM & WA planning pre murder

I think Karms comment is bc one of the viewers once criticized Joel for being a guy living in his mother’s basement. You know the expression. So she was just using that in this situation. About the shirt-offhand I’d say no, and tbh I don’t want to have to rewatch the entire trial!
I don’t know who she would have said it to other than Wendi (or possibly Katie)and I’ve watched those testimonies so many times, and don’t remember the question. I’d probably remember their response more than the question anyway.
So I’d say “no”.

This isn't a new upload but I'd never listened to it until now.
The take-away for me is - poor kid - because of the heart breaking details on how the child has been exposed to all of this, but there are other snippets in the call.

- Should they get married? ( B proposes this again)
- Sounds like B - who lives in an apartment with son and dog - thought she might be given Charlies house now, which is not unreasonable imo ( Whale Harbour, currently for sale?)
- CA knocks her back when they discuss what would've happened if he'd been released ' I’d been planning to have time by myself…'
- IMO Donna is busy manipulating B because B says that DA has been texting Bree saying that she loves her. ( I don't think B has any clue that all the key players know there's a plan for the parents to flee to Vietnam)
- Sounds like Charlie convinced B of the double extortion plot.
- B says he's 'the most amazing man I have ever met in my whole life' and heaps of other compliments.
- B promises that R will never have another dad, that CA will always be dad

I hope B is able to take some more objective advice and move-on, for her and her son's future wellbeing

25m call with B. 6th November.

He only was with her 6 weeks. That may answer some questions.

absolutely. I posted his 6 week claim, 2 pages back here

but because it's Charlie I added the caveat that he's a prolific liar.
Just cause the calls make me wonder which facts he's re-writing and how he compartmentalises everybody, re-versioning and withholding for each recipient, especially his ambiguous relationships with women.
Less Maestro and more The Tailor

It's a while since I listened to Judy from AA Legal Focus's read out of B's litigation but anybody else interested in B's 2019 view of their relationship & her struggles to get him to support their son might find more details in that episode

ETA - I have just had a look at B's old lawsuit and added a snippet in the next WS post
