EXCERPTS

The coroner of Warren County, Ga., said the preliminary cause of death for two young siblings found dead in a pond Monday is drowning. He said there were no signs of trauma to their bodies.

"The investigation is ongoing. Right now, there's still no evidence of foul play and we're gonna turn out investigation back over to the GBI," said coroner Paul Lowe.

(snip)

"We have not ruled on the manner (of death). We're still waiting to put some things together with the GBI," Lowe said.

The coroner would not comment on the preliminary findings into children's time of death.

As I understood it, they're waiting for the GBI before they determine HOW they drown. So guess we haven't heard the last word on it yet

Maybe he's trying to stay busy to keep himself from injuring his fiance. If my husband was watching my children when something like this happened, rational or not, I think I might kill him.
I have a feeling this mother is lying to the police and to her fiance about being in the bathroom for 15 min or so when the children disappeared....

Don't get me wrong, I am not accusing her of anything but if she has a rep of leaving these toddlers on their own...in a playpen or "whatever" (when they were younger) while she did other things...Then, on the SAME DAY a neighbour brings to her attention that the children were on their own for 30 min...(supposedly having got away from the mom & out of the house)...

The dad then tells us that they were aware that they were getting out the door...so he bought a lock...so he said...shouldn't that be a "light bulb" moment for the mom that she needs to pay a little more extra attention to these active little tykes?? I have a suspicion that she often let them wander around...doing whatever and didn't check on them as much as she should...Someone mentioned she may suffer from depression...what if she was lying down on the couch or bed and it happened then....wouldn't the "I was in the bathroom" sound better to her fiance and the public then, I was doing something a mother shouldn't be doing, not watching them close enough!!!

Very true, joanofarc. Jeana may be right ... pure neglect. Once I heard that they had gotten out earlier in the day, I was less understanding towards her. I hope that time will tell us the true version of events.

Me, too! It sounds like the police are trying to leave her enough rope to hang herself.

I am on the fence on this one. Why I thinkn it is possible that they wander off on their own I also think it is possible they may have been put there.

One of my thougth is this....if they did in deed walk there on their own and from all reports I have heard this was a gravel/dirt type of road/path that lead directly to the pond entrance meaning right to the gate.....so......if that is the case and they travel down that road to the pond wouldn't there be foot prints??? One other thougth is this if the craweld or squeezed through the gate or a whole in it some where wouldn't there be finger prints on the gate or around the hole etc where they got through....they must have used their hands. My point being if finger prints and or foot prints were found that to me would help determine if they went on their own or they were put there by someone.

Thank you so much Jeana & Meech ... I was afraid to even say it, fearing I might be perceived as crazy! I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one!
JerseyGirl after seven miscarriges & two etopic pregnancies...I tired for 12 long years...I've told him if something happened to my son in his present...He better just leave the state..

Does any know is it common for LE to drug/acholoh test someone in these circumstances???

The reason I ask is what if a person was using some sort of mood altering substance and maybe had fallen asleep/passed out etc.....might be able to tell if the time line give to LE was accurcate by knowing if a person was of sound mind and body?

(Please don't attack I am not syaing the mother or anyone else was using a mood altering substance.....I was more curious if that was part of the investigation for LE to check...kind of like....taking a lie detector etc.)

She took a lie detector test. I think the results of that test and the evidence by the pond will determine whether LE looks at her further. I do believe that even if they determine that she's telling the truth, there are some jurisdictions that would charge her anyway with some kind of neglect. However, I'm not sure about this case and this LE jurisdiction. After all, babies who are left in car seats and die are "accidents," yet parents are charged for that sort of thing every year. Why is this different?

I know she took a lie detector test.........I was more curious if they alcholo & drug test.

I have a casino about 2 miles from myhouse and let me tell you at least 3 times a week there is a reports of some leaving their kids locked in their cars for several hours in the cold & hot weather here as young as newborns while they gamble..................and some have been found dead.............it is jsut heart breaking and too me that is no accident they choose to leave their children in that car and went in side to gamble. They were to cheap or so they say that they could not afford to pay for their children to go into the onsite day care at the casino.........BUT yet they have money to gamble with. ARGH Sorry that is whole nother topic.

Wow, what a nightmare for you! I'm so sorry! I'm also so happy that you finally got your boy! :)

So we have the cause of death as DROWNING and Manner of Death is PENDING - this is the how and why....right...such as outward signs on the bank of them slipping in...I tend to agree with whoever posted that if they hadn't been there before and were running and the pond was green with algae that they may have run right into the water....they were found a few feet apart....is there any significance to that??? :waitasec: ...not sure....would the water be instantly deep at the edge...I suppose murky and muddy and they could have gotten stuck and while struggling went under...and then once panic sets in it is too late....:(

We also have no signs of trauma...good news...what else would they look for... drugs in their system...if they were properly nourished...It was said the little girl used a breathing machine...I suppose for asthma...and the little boy on a medication for an "undetermined" cause....I wonder what his aliment was...

If it's like a lot of sewage ponds, retention ponds etc, that I have seen, then yes it would be a pretty steep slope going into it. They are usually dug that way. Even if it wasn't, it doesn't take but a few inches of water for a toddler to drown, especially if it was mucky soil....

Meech!!!!! Your little boy is adorable!!!!!

By the way, those eptocic pregnancies hurt like a beotch, don't they!

I have not read pages 23, thru 27 but.

Meech what a handsome son, you earned the best after what you have been through. Having 8 babies seemed so easy for us. My baby daughter has had one miscarriage, she has two tiny ones now and is expecting again, due in September.

Please consider this, I have seen the father and the mother and what I think I am seeing in the facial expressions, and the verbal expressions by the father, and the behavior of the mother is that there might be a mild form of retardation in both of them.

I would like to know how they met, was it perhaps in a group home. Wondering where he works as well.

The thought I am having just might be they or the mother at least, does not realize consequences of not keeping a closer eye on the children.

I am also wondering if the gate at the sewage pond has a padlock on it? I have noted state facilities that deal with water or electrical thingies, that there most generally is a padlock on those places, on the gated entrance. IF there was a padlock on the gate, I would suspect that the tots got into trouble on their own most likely.

I am wondering why mom would think it was the neighbors or someone trying to get even with them. If there is mild mental development problems with the both of them, as I suspect, then they have suffered enough already. IF either one of them have been in a group home, they most likely teach them to be neat and clean. This indeed might explain the red bow.

Sad case.

Camper, I can't point you to the exact post, but I recall someone saying possibly complaints were made because of the "filth" and/or "poor living conditions" in their home at some point.
