thanks auntjomama, I just linked in to Walker County Messenger and read it. First rate reporting, I have to say.

So now we know why sheriff's office made effort by draining the nearby pond. I don't know about obstruction of justice, because most statements are deliberately being withheld. Implication with obstruction of justice is that he misled investigators, but by even being able to say he was just thinking what Sam would do implies he didn't clearly say at the time "Sam put her there".

So, it's look there, and no one asks why and how he knows? Come on. Yet he couldn't have said something like that if they had.

I just read the article and linked to our blog. They have some interesting converstations on there. Here are some things I "picked up" from there, and my random thoughts regarding them.

The statement was made that DA Patterson was out of town when this 2nd arrest took place. Why, or does this change anything ? (confused).

Bloggers indicate people think the whole thing could just be a media stunt. If it is a media stunt ? Is it relevant to anything ? Does it change anything ? If my family member or friend were "missing", I would want "representation" and/or investigators who keep her name in constantly out there. Keep the case in the media, keep it on people's minds. that's just my humble opion. Is that what happened here ? Can any of us honestly answer this ?

Perception is made that the gag order is to keep the public and the family from finding out what LE does NOT know as opposed to jeopardizing the case. What are you thoughts on this ?

There are additionally several posts on the blog that state SP is/was a drinker, and perhaps speculate that he may have done "something" to/with Theresa and then had to backtrack later and make some "corrections" because of the drinking problem. Is there any valid statement regarding SP's drinking problem ? If so, then if it is so severe he could do something one night and have to correct it the next night, how could he function in LE ? Or perhaps he didn't "function" in LE. Confused ...

I was a little confused about the statements made at the hearing regarding the email, and the chain of command. I thought BC was SP's supervisor. But, the way I read on the blog, SP was BC's supervisor ?
I also thought I read that Patterson made the statement about "Where was the person in charge", during the time of the email "snooping". But, from what I read on the blog, it was BC's representation making these statements.

Again, these are just some random thoughts after reading over the blog. If you read that blog, you will see how easily one can get confused and then come here and ramble too. :)

We have a saying in computers.

Garbage in, garbage out. You've definitely pointed out some the garbage in part. :)

But, as far as a drinking problem, Edwards, Parker was quite coherent at 7:30 pm when he finished working in his yard and drove up and talked to Theresa before she left.

Edwards, a couple of thoughts... DA Patterson was going to be out of town for several days during the week to attend a legal seminar which she stated had been planned for over a year. Chaffins lawyer Cunningham was upset because she would not have someone else preside over a bond hearing until her return. Chaffins attorney was also upset with the way the arrest of his client went down in ALA., he stated that Chaffin has been cooperative and should have been allowed to return to Walker Co. and turn himself in. Cunningham had stated that the whole arrest was a media stunt.
As to Sam Parkers drinking problem, it has been stated that he was a heavy drinker, but my thoughts on the blog are....There are some older, wiser, members of the community that share on the WCM blog who find that very interesting and have some thoughts reguarding it.
Ben chaffin was second in command to Sam Parker

As I understand it, SP had a feeling that TP was running around on him (wonder why) so SP was doing a little detective work. Only problem, SP aint that good with computers. So, just like he had done a thousand times before, BC logged into TP's MSN email account so that SP could see what was there. The password was written down on a post it note in the top drawer. This took place at the marital home. Upon accessing the email account of TP, the two sleuths discovered a reservation for 2 and a queen sized bed from the Big Bear Resort in Gatlinburg Tennessee. LE learned of this incident upon BCs admission during his initial interview with GBI. BC also told investigators at that time, SP had requested that BC log into what I understand was a joint checking account, but not sure on that one, but a checking account at the Bank of Lafayette to see if TP had deposited a check that SP had given her.

The situation with the obstruction of justice was only recently, as in the latest arrest, explained. Leigh Patterson, the appointed Prosecutor from Rome, armed with transcripts from 25 hours of GBI interviews with BC, made the announcement that BC had not only viewed the TP email and bank accounts with SP at his side, but that BC had forwarded the email of the reservation to his personal email account. Then, some of the conversation was not reported but L. Patterson apparently went on to state that once he got to the Police Dept. later that day or the next evening, BC pulled up his own email account, opened the forwarded reservation confirmation and printed a copy. BC then allegedly took the copy and ripped the heading off so that his email address was not on that copy. He then gave the copy to SP. SP promptly took the copy to TP's mother...

That’s when David Cunningham (BCs attny) challenged Pattersons testimony regarding the printing and tearing of the copy. Cunningham more or less said, well, you have the transcripts and no one else has seen them, so lets assume you are telling the truth about that. Were there any witnesses to the printing and tearing? If it happened at the police department, who was BC's commanding officer? That would have been SP. Right, Patterson? Well then if SP is responsible for BC while on duty, why did you not indict SP for the same violation? Or for illegally commanding my client to do what you say he did.

Then Jerry Day, the magistrate judge said he had heard enough and set bail at 10K.

From the WCM

"Wilson said she did not know about Chaffin’s misdirection to the Cordell pond or about the computer invasion until the charges came out last week. “I’m sickened to my stomach that he went in my sister’s information and got her e-mails. He accesses this and apparently helps whoever it is that did whatever they did to my sister. He knows, and he needs to be in jail permanently.”

Everything sounds like it could be right on the money, but I have to wonder if the mother had seen the e-mail or even knew of it , if she would not have shared that info with her daughters?

Thanks for all the replies. My statements were not necessarily my "opinions", just things I wondered about.

I wonder if the mother really knew of the email too auntjomama but I guess it's possible he could have showed the paper to the Mom and her not have known he got someone to get in her email for him. I guess she could have thought he just found it where Theresa had left it laying around or something????

What makes each of you think the Mother knew of the email ?

Also, did the email "tampering" happen at the marital home or at the office ?

Edwards, Just going on the theory that OTOH gave. Not that it was set in stone that she had seen it just that it was rumored or suspected or understood, that Sam had shown it to Claire , based on that theory and the report the sisters gave that they had only recently learned of the e-mail snooping I posed the question , if Mom had previously saw that e-mail ,likely her daughters would have already known of it.

For anyone that missed the FOX NEWS interview, here is my transcript of the 9 minute version...

How ya handlin’ this? Minute by minute. Not day by day. Minute by minute. I mean its, its, its, almost more that I can stand. And it WAS more than I can stand the other night. I never knew that a person could be just instantly accused of something. I mean Like, I was. I mean its just.....

Like I said, I spent 26 years on this job. And then all of a sudden, for no reason, no probable cause- I was
in...in..um. Instantly acussed– and convicted. And tried... and you know, they were ready to lynch me in this town. And, thats... thats just beyond me! I mean, it is!

Ummm.

So you feel like they’re ready to lynch ya? Oh yea. Yea. The sheriff told me I couldn’t come home.
They told me I had da hide in a hospital—under an assuuuumed name. And I did. And it was all because of public opinion. I mean its…. I mean, I have never, in my life, ever thought, you know, that things would go …. So… One sided. Just—

It all happened so quickly. They served several search warrants here.

FIVE. They searched this place five times. And they found, you know. I don’t know what they found. They found nothing as far as …. I know. But yea. They searched five search warrants.

Like I said, you know, I got railroaded. I got absolutely just… canned. You know- out the door. At the police department. Then all this other stuff come about you know… And I mean…. They told my friends who I can, and can’t talk to. They told them not to talk to me. Not to call me. You know I, I, I, cant have contact with anyone. And I mean I, its, its, its, ------------ you’ve got to understand how Ive been trained. As far as that goes. And Ive been wacoed. Ive been ruby ridged by the FBI. And that’s.
I know that’s the way it is. I can have contact with two people in my life. My sister and my brother. And that’s it. That’s the way they do ya. That’s it.

They absolutely take away all your income. Everything you’ve got. You know. Ive got eleven credit cards, that’s gone. Ive got movie gallery, you know. Sams wholesale card. They’ve got. My truck title. They’ve got. And you know. I cant do anything. I cant move off this house, unless its jes you know, to where I go. And the FBIs going like, no. you can go to wherever you want to…….. How? I have never in my life, you know, seen the other side, of what I did.

And I am sorry to say. I am sorry to say that I pinned a badge on my chest. And you know…. Actually upheld the law. I mean I am. Id do anything else right now but…be a law enforcement officer.

Our marriage and.... our relations were uhh. Talked about. I guess. And, When I went to work you know, Ah me and Theresa, we had a fight. You know. And when Theresa, when she went to work /went to w work. you know- ah me and Sam we had a fight you know. Oh yea. Its just all…. In.. instant. I mean.

Its coming back to haunt ya? YES. Very much so. And they jumped on it….. wide open.

You guys are going through a divorce. YES. We had it all finalized. Yep. It was all a done deal. Ive got it where its all paid for an everything. Yea. I mean and its… that was no problem. It was amiable? As well as can be?
Uncontested. And..... I’ve got it in writtin’ in a lawyers office. Yessir. It's uncontested.

A couple of maybe tough questions but, how worried are you about your wife?

Im trying to think that shes alive, uhhh. Im trying to think at shes someplace... that I just wanna let it go.
Now Im stuck! Im still married. I.... you know. This is her place. This is her land. This is all you know.

I, Im really stuck as far as to, you know, as far as legal ramifications. You know of everything that we had going on. And I wish..... I wish she’d just signed the divorce papers. I tell ya tha truth. I do. I really do. I wish she had signed the divorce papers and got it over with.

Do you know where your wife is?
I think I do. Yea? Yea. Where is she? I..... Im not gonna bother ‘er. I mean Im not. But I think I know.... where she is. Imean, I really do. I.... Did you harm her? NO! Did you not kill her? NO.... NO NO No No..... She .... got – caught in a mess ... and imploded. And, thats....
You think shes hiding? Yea. You think shes still alive? Yea. I do. And, like I said, I think I know where.... But. Uhh... Just let it go at that. UH... And... If shes happy, fine. You know. Thats fine. Thats...

After 2 months, a lot of people started worrying that she may be dead.
Im not even gonna go there. Im not even going to even... think that. NO.... No...... No..... Ahhh.... Theres certain things that are put up, that–

put her in certain places, in certain times, and all this stuff and everything like that–so... and I....... Im just not gonna go there. So... Like I said, I, Im just not. Uhhh.... if shes somewhere.... n...... she wants a be there....n.....if shes happy, then fine.
You know. I don’t care. You know. But I wish shed taken care of the things that she should have before she left!

You think she left, to hurt you?
No......I don’t think that at all. I mean. Its, Uhh......

Im not trying to fool you. Im just trying to understand.
I know. I mean. No. Cause I don’t.

Anything else you’d like to add?
Nahhh. Not really. This is the first time I ever talked so... you know I...
Like I said, I mean you know, I.... I’ve not got any thing to hide. I’ve not got anything to lie about.
And with that. You know... Thats, thats, thats the only thing that I’ve got going. And I’ve been stripped. From everything else. In my life. I’ve been stripped of my life.

He uses "I" over 120 times in 9 minutes...

OToH

Thanks OToH. He sounds almost incoherant. Just stuttering around complaining and whining. He knows where she is but he doesn't want to bother her even though he is accused of her murder and according to him all his problems are her fault. What a poor excuse for a lie. Dingos or space aliens would be more believeable!

It's definitely all about him, him, him. "Now Im stuck!" "They've got my Movie Gallery card!" "Me, me, me!"

HAHAHAHAHA...love this one: Ive been ruby ridged by the FBI. (FOX NEWS interview...You should have grabbed that link!)

That is the same thing he said in the interview a while back with the local Atlanta news. I remember reading some discussion about him saying it, and the speculation o the boards of a possible connection to the explosives found in his locker.

I am praying that he SP will break soon and let us recover Theresa like before August 1st. Please.

I don't know why he said it, but it struck me as funny.
Not sure WHY he said it either. I remember reading of the speculation and thinking it was just a random statement. I have no clue if it is related to explosives, etc. But, I do find it odd that he used the cliche' again.
