Casey's Parents Have New LawyersThe parents of Casey Anthony have a new legal team. The Lippman law firm says that they'll be more conservative in defending the Anthonys. (8/25/10)

Video Report: http://www.wftv.com/video/24765333/index.html

For some reason, this cracks me up. More conservative with the Anthonys? Have these two lawyers been under a rock for two years? The word "conservative" doesn't even belong in the same sentence with "George and Cindy Anthony" or "Anthonys" or "A's" or "CA and GA", I could go on and on.

And what are they going to do, tie them up and muzzle them? That's about the only way I can see anything conservative being done with them (and yes, the thought of that does make me smile). Yeah, we'll see how long this "conservative" tack lasts. Either two more lawyers will jump ship, or Cindy will have them under her koolaid induced mind control.

Maybe they should take some advice from Houze in the Kyron Horman case. Make them not leave the house and take away their cellphones and computer.

I have the impression that this new team of attorneys, saying they would not be doing a lot of media interviews, is trying to downplay the sensationalism of this case.

They may try to do an image makeover, but I think it's far too late for that. The behavior of George and Cindy Anthony for the past two plus years cannot be erased from the public's mind in the nine months between now and the trial.

Doing a bang up job so far.... a couple days into their case.. and Cindy has herself firmly planted into another big hoohaw.

Over nothing more than .. shoooooooooes.

There is NO WAY they can rope that wild card in.. NO WAY. They better get used to being specialists in damage control, because CA isn't changing. They can get her talking all soft and sweet.. but it will only last until someone crosses her.

I know Mark Lippford handled the legalese for the Anthonys with their foreclosure....who is the real estate attorney handling Baez foreclosure??

Having watched all this mess unfold, why would any lawyer want to take on the Anthonys?

This is a multiple choice question...

1...The lawyer honestly thinks that the Anthonys are being given a raw deal and want to help these beseiged 'grieving grandparents'

2...The lawyer believes that everyone, no matter how miserable their disposition. deserves adequate advice of counsel.

3...The lawyer sees huges fees associated with this case

4...The lawyer sees the opportunity for unlimited free publicity

5...The lawyer wants to 'boldly go where no man has gone before' and be forever known as the lawyer who made Cindy and George Anthony 'behave' when others have failed at that task

6 ...All of the above

#4 and #4 only is my bet.

Edited to add: Do you know how much it would cost them to get this kind of publicity? They are figuring that they are getting it cheap if all they have to do is put in some hours. It's not easy to get PR pieces out there...paid advertising is what they are left with and that doesn't put their faces and their real life experience and human connection out there like this stuff does. It's a smart move - a gamble, but still a smart move to get their names out there constantly.

I was sent this link years ago by a cop friend (in case I ever got in trouble) on why you should NOT talk with the police, allow searches, give statements, etc. I thought the folks of WS would find this interesting and Tricia agreed and told me to post it in a couple of forums. So here ya go. It's for informational purposes only.

When the policeman reads you the Miranda warning, honor it. Do not give a waiver. No matter what the police officer tells you, do not surrender your rights. "Do you want to talk to give me your side of the story?" You do not.

These presentations took place at Regent University's Law School. They are like nothing I have ever seen. If you do not watch both of these videos, you risk walking into a trap that could ruin your life.

If the attorneys are doing this for free advertising, I wonder if it would backfire on them and ruin their reputation because of the disgust everyone has for the A's?

IMO, if the new lawyers, either one of them, cannot convince their client Cindy, to graciously withdraw her "offer" to "help" at the shoe drive, then they are worthless puppets, and will continue to be despised for their enabling of the doberman.

To Cindy, it is now a contest of wills, and she WILL prevail, and she WILL have her way, she WILL go to the shoe drive and "help", because it will help HER to "heal" (how can she heal from Caylee's murder when she won't even admit that Caylee is dead?).

Remember when George went down to Satsuma to "help" the Cummings with the Haleigh search, and he was asked to leave, and Cindy's reaction was not to graciously bow out, she stomped down there the next day with George, to prove that she WILL do what she wants to do. Then she published a media statement chastising the Cummings family for not accepting her "help".

For Cindy, it is not about the charity (never was) ... now it is about Cindy WINNING!

I don't know what the public at large thinks of GA and CA. If all they see is the grieving grandparents who appear on morning TV they might have a softer image than they do here. I hope to God they don't but it's possible.

Or she perceives that they crossed her.

I can't believe the shoe drive people didn't tell her to just drop off the shoes and go or just refused her offer outright.

Indeed and to add: I just finished my Criminal Procedure class and two new Supreme Court Rulings come into play here and everyone should be aware of them.
