OMG Snick!!!! I'm glad you made it back in one piece! How is Young Snick traveling home from school?

Like nurse said, I can also see the visual as you painted the picture very well.

I hope you all stay safe. This storm system sounds like a monster!

Keep us updated when you can...

My son made it home ok, my wife braved the elements to pick him up.
We live on a road a few miles away from more built up areas, there is a streetlight right across from our driveway, I just now looked out, the snow is falling so hard that in the light it looks like a scene from one of those old Charlie Chaplin movies (The Gold Rush?)
Now to await the school closings at the bottom of the tv screen..

Hang in there everybody and please keep us updated. I am worried about you all who are in the path of this storm because it is powerful!

Stay safe and warm...

wm

ps Snick so glad to hear your wife and son made it home safely:)

I'm supposed to guest teach for a friend on Wednesday and then administer their unit test - under 25cm of snow, it seems. If there is class, I'd bet 50% of the students will have pinned their hopes on cancellation, and not be prepared for the test. It's always a gamble.

I know I am the teacher and all, but I'm hoping for a snow day, myself... But I'll still prepare, just in case.

Best friend just called me. She loaded her students up in HOPES of not seeing them til Monday, at which point she'll pop quiz... She tells me they're going to learn fast not to mess with her during snow days... One of those "There may be a test" warnings was issued.

Best of luck on the snow day!

I decided to come home from work and brave the snow in the morning. It's not supposed to start here until midnight-ish.

I'll be watching and head back out when it starts to accumulate some.... I didn't want to be stuck there longer than necessary...

Had ice on my truck when I left the office around noon, now there is a thick layer on everything. I'm not liking this either. Really wishing I had bought that generator I was looking at yesterday when I was out shopping. It wouildn't have powered the whole house but it would have run a heater at least. I'm worried about pipes freezing if the power goes out. Also worried about trees. The last big ice storm we had was horrible and the power was out for quite awhile. It really bites trying to go to sleep when all you can hear is the sound of limbs cracking and breaking, never knowing if one of them was going to land on your house, or worse, one of your trees landing on your neighbor's house. I just went out and put some old hoodies around some of my landscaping schrubs so they wont break up again under the weight of the ice.

If the power goes out I'll still be able to cook at least. And we've charged all the rechargeable stuff in the house so we'll have some entertainment at least for awhile. Really really wish I had bought that generator...

Oklahoma has already been declared a state of an emergency and unc. sooner has a dr's apt in okc (across the state) for the next 24 hours...likely freezing rain, sleet, maybe 3 inches of ice and then snow...12-15 in....Unc Sooner has to go to OU Medical Center for his cancer Thursday......Thundersnow??? WTH God, I beg you...please let me have internet...:truce: It has taken us 3 months to get this appointment! P.S. he's not really my uncle....but my hubby...peeps in my hang out thread know...sorry hehe....We do have all wheel drive tho...

Waiting for some snow, and/then sleet and freezing rain = ICE in Phila, just dug out of the 15 or so inches of snow, lots of street still not cleared, so now we get ice.

I think Punxsutawney Phil will soon be Pensacola Phil.

Be safe all!

Hunker down everyone. Be safe. If you are going out, have blankets, emergency supplies in the car. Don't keep them in the trunk. Keep them accessible in the body of the car, even if your car has wrecked, flipped, watever, they will be available.

Praying for no loss of life, if this (these) storm systems end up being what is worst case scenerio. Check on your family, check on your neighbors. Be safe.

can you believe it???!!!! the noaa page for my zipcode is DOWN!

seriously~

also.... I drove the grocery store and than drove back home after seeing the parking lot... wonder if pizza hut delivers in 2 feet of snow?

Try wunderground weather Nurse....

I hope you can SAFELY make it to the apointment, and if you need to stay home, well, maybe they can reschedule much sooner than 3 months. I will say a prayer for your family, and remember, NOTHING is worth risking your life for. We don't need your family to be a thread on here! Pack your emergency kit :twocents:

we have lots of ice and C-O-L-D

DH works at a hospital and they are slammed....lots of slip-n-fall, etc

everyone please be careful...it's VERY dangerous out tonight and tomorrow for our area (CO), and I pray for everyone east of us

also, let us not forget those who have no homes and no place to go...may they find SOMEPLACE warm, along with the critters

That ice out there is killer. I almost took at least three headers today, and am feeling the ache of it.

I sure hope ya'll can all keep your power!!! I just went to Weather Underground, and man it looks BRUTAL for most of the country!!! We are good here in the South, but I fear that will change when the Spring tornado season sets in. It just seems like the weather has lost it's mind and doesn't know how to do much of anything mid-level. Everything has to be extreme - Thunder Snow????!!! I am thinking about all of you.... and all of the animals and homeless during the next few days. Be careful and stay warm, my WebSleuth firends!!!

sooner,
please evaluate before driving..

my PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND HUBBY..

and if you need people to call his doctor and beg for another appointment count me in... I will gladly beg for you for a new one before you venture out into this monster storm!

The ice is starting here in the northeast. Just light right now. My son has an appointment for an MRI an hour away on Wednesday afternoon too. I'm sick of this weather!

Are you kidding? He was diagnosed in October with Agressive Prostrate cancer which may have spread to his pancreas and colon.... Glesson 7....We are not opposed to going anywhere for treatment.

Have you looked into staying with DD and going to Philly? I'm thinking, thinking, drinking, about the name...

OMG! I can not remember the name... Thinking, drinking and looking it up...

Meh. I'm okay with snow, despite my aches and pains. Frankly, I prefer it to the humidity of summer, so I am happy with the cold. Ontario swelters in the summer - I must consider job hunting further north, I think.
