Off topic. Talking with co-worker today, and she told me a son of a friend of hers went to private school in Boston years ago. Turns out his school mate is one of the abused in this case.

This happened in 1975/76. He gets off with 10 years probation.

Incidentially, I was in the car a few days ago and heard a report about the girls on the radio. It was one of those little news blurbs that come on between shows/music. They told about the case but didn't mention the girls' names or give any way for anyone to be able to look for info. about the case. I was glad they were mentioned this far from Iowa but thought, "what's the point?"

I'm way down south myself. I've been looking for the girls everywhere I go. I find myself looking in people's vehicles at red lights and parking lots!!

I have a question for you. When you went to Meyers Lake did you look at the hole in the fence? If you did look at it, do you think it could have been used to abduct the girls at that point? tia.

Wasn't the hole in the fence on the road side of the double fenced area ... meaning that it would exit to the road? The road has been ruled out because of heavy construction.

They implied that they "discovered" evidence that leads them to believe the girls are alive.

I am somewhat skeptical too.

Thanks! The hole in the fence is not in that fence (in Olli's pics). It is in the OTHER fence, on the Freeway side. A car had come down the embankment at some point and plowed through the fence. Olli said it is unlikely the Freeway was used to abduct the girls, since it is under construction, and traffic is always backed up / stop & go and it is down to one lane at that point. It would have been WAY obvious to stop a car there and stuff 2 girls into it.

Yes, I agree! I find myself really observing any and all vans now days. They are the vehicle of choice for most perps IMO. Does anyone remember the Ken and Barbie killers in Canada? I think I remember they had a van too. It seems like there would be a lot of white vans to rule out one by one even if they are ruling out just white vans in Black Hawk county.

BBM - I always try to put myself in a perps shoes, and I've always thought I'd go far from my home base to do my bad deeds, then come back home and go about business as usual.

Meaning, if I was to kidnap someone I'd abduct them faaaarrrrr away then take them back to my home area if my intent was to keep them in hiding. If my intent was to murder, I'd still do it faaarrrrrr away and dispose of body all along a not so direct route going back home to my normal life.

Meaning - maybe it's not a bad idea to get the word out elsewhere. If a perp wasn't local and he thinks they're only looking in a small radius for the girls, he may get lax and in this case give the girls a little freedom and they may be seen. lease:
