Urbana stinks? :floorlaugh: Nahhhhh...

I am not a fan of Urbana...and that is all I'm going to say about that. :blushing:

OT sorry, yes Urbana stinks. I have always blamed Decatur (the ADM plant there)

When the wind blows this direction Springfield stinks. It usually blows toward Urbana I guess.

The delay in announcing COD is apparently due to waiting on results from testing.

I'm thinking the COD is not obvious, ie not a bullet wound to the head.

IMO if they knew they'd been shot, they would probably have said so already.

ETA: on second thought, these Iowans seem the strong silent types. Maybe they won't say one thing they don't have to.

Not to mention, that LE indicated it would have been very easy for the hunters to have missed them altogether, which would be unlikely if they had been...attached to trees.

cluciano63, guess due to the silence in this & many other investigations; hold back info/evidence. We all have different visions & theories of how the bodies were disposed/hidden. Normally when shallow graves are used or the bodies are left on the ground. The perp will attempt to camouflage or conceal them with limbs & brush, etc.

Wait, I think my reading comprehension was off:

http://wcfcourier.com/news/evansdal...ion_12862912-cdd5-11e1-a9b3-0019bb2963f4.html

That's the actual quote. Originally, I took it to mean that the stumps were there last week before the cops arrived, but I think I just read it poorly.

I'm still wondering why the bodies were so darned close to that beach instead of being closer to where you'd have to enter the area. Surely they'd be hidden well before getting to the spots chosen?

I do think something is up with that, and it may be because the perp wanted to spend time in a nicer spot (the beach). I know that sounds hideous, but perps have all kinds of hideous fantasies for how to make the awful crime pleasurable for themselves :(

BBM.
Perhaps, he wanted to be close to the water in order to wash any evidence off of the girls' bodies (and off of himself).

I added a couple of addresses to the map I made last night. Info is mostly from the Iowa Sex Offender Registry and Hollye's map.

https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=...zxrf6hzGr7h3ErQer8Q&oq=fayett&mra=ps&t=m&z=11

a) Readlyn is where CMF was convicted on charges related to kidnapping a young girl

b) Greenbrier area, which doesn't seem to be very close to any other data point.

c) An address CMF is associated with (http://www.iowasexoffender.com/locations/16095/?lastname=FITZ&firstname=CHAD&type=simple#Locations)

d) Wylma Cook's house (grandmother)

e) CMF's current address according to http://www.iowasexoffender.com/locations/16095/?lastname=FITZ&firstname=CHAD&type=simple#Locations

f) a different website listed this as one of CMF's addresses, but I don't remember where it came from. Anybody?

g) Another address associated with CMF (from http://www.iowasexoffender.com/locations/16095/?lastname=FITZ&firstname=CHAD&type=simple#Locations)

h) Lake and Gilbert Ave -- Lawn Watering Man's location

i) Meyers Lake (general area)

j) Shoes found -- one of several entries for shoes or sandals

k) Seven Bridges County Park

Coming out of lurking mode to say thanks for the link, I hadn't seen these pictures yet.

My first thought was that they do not look freshly cut and my second thought was, are there beavers in Iowa?

Not sure about beavers, but there are TONS of wild pigs!! :floorlaugh:

LOL, there is an Urbana, IL. To me urbana is a sidewalk with gas fumes. Oh....I forgot about the occasional pig whiff in IL, not to bring up pigs again. :waitasec: Someone should capture that smell and use it for engine fuel or in military weaponry.

One of the pieces of police tape in those photos is on a piece of driftwood that's clear down beside the water. I wonder if they think he/they walked in using the sandy banks that are normally underwater?

Every time I look at carbuff's map the phrase "area of awareness" rings in my head.

Where did you find information that he was convicted on charges related to kidnapping a young girl? I could only find one reference to him being arrested and charged with kidnapping (a very short article in the Courier) and I found nothing of the kidnapping mentioned in his criminal charges of
LASCIVIOUS ACTS W/CHILD - INFLICT PAIN OR DISCOMFORT or LASCIVIOUS ACTS W/CHILD - SOLICITATION (sorry for the caps, I copied and pasted - not shouting at you! :seeya:

Maybe this area (the grassy area) is swampy in times of high water but how old is that reporters research? :shakehead: :pullhair:

What's Next in Missing Girls Investigation?

“... but Martin said finding DNA evidence of the killer will be tough in this wooded swampy area." :waitasec:
huh? looks like grassy, sandy, it has been a drought! hmmmm

Maybe looking in other areas close by the scene? The partly dried up riverbed is swampy looking area, and I bet they are looking for evidence there too.

I thought the same thing, except for the river itself, the area around it looks pretty dry.

ETA: I have no idea what is up with the quote, I tried to fix it, and it doesn't seem fixable.

He was initially charged with kidnapping, but apparently plea-bargained down. I suppose it could be two different incidents, but I don't think so. I summarized it as "charges related to kidnapping," but maybe I could have phrased it better.
