Just an angle I'm not sure has been discussed or is even relevant anymore... Maybe the dogs were in the basement because they get nervous in storms. My Labrador has to be locked up and given sedatives so she doesn't hurt herself. If MT knew the dogs were nervous and there were storms in the area, she could have locked them up that night.

That night, everyone was in the basement. A tornado struck Marshaltown, not far away. I would not be surprised power went out.

Regarding the red shirt, I think it is hers. Unless someone is playing a cruel joke, it's just too coincidental that a red shirt was found, especially it being an article of clothing that she was possibly wearing. Her red shirt had a specific logo on it, so IMO they knew right away if it was hers or not.

In a study of kidnapping crimes/abductions, only 14% were committed by strangers.

I'm not even going to ask you for your source, because that is just incorrect.

There are three types of kidnappings.

Family kidnapping 49%
Acquaintance kidnapping 27%
Stranger kidnapping 24%

The family has been cleared. So we can eliminate that possibility. That leaves the other possibilities: acquaintance (53% chance) and stranger (47% chance). For the most part I think her acquaintances have been cleared. They probably have some more investigation to do into that, but I'm sure a lot of acquaintances have been cleared. Which pushes the odds of the kidnapper being a stranger way up.

Interesting take on situation. My take is slightly different in that I believe that he is a career pro and doesn't really care too much about what public or press thinks about the situation as his job #1 is to find MT. What I found off though was that he claimed to not have some basic information (told one press person would have to get back to them on a basic question and no knowledge of what was found at site yesterday). In comparison to the other day, I didn't find the main speaker compelling in that he didn't seem to know the even some basic details of what we have seen play out in MSM video. The frustration we both sensed from him today could have been simply from the never ending questions when the stated response at the beginning of the PC was the same as articulated at the prior PC or perhaps he was frustrated because he is 'out of the loop' with the rest of the investigation and so was put in position of facing the press with limited information? I didn't think today was his finest hour by a long shot. I am curious who exactly is leading this investigation (State or Feds?) and why the press didn't ask for clarification on issue. Its odd in a sense to not see the FBI front and center when my guess is that they are leading the charge. Curious what others think on this issue. It was certainly another odd PC IMO!

I don't know. I don't know if I recall the FBI being the ones to hold pressers when they're involved. I think they usually leave that to the locals.

His statements (I didn't watch but am going off what you've recited here) about having to check or professing not to know are common ones. I think those are default answers when the real answer is "I need to check if that's something we are allowed to reveal."

I am feeling completely frustrated so I am taking a break. I am not losing interest, but I have a feeling that this case will if LE doesn’t stop being so tight lipped with everything. Hopefully they already know what has happened and are waiting for the perp to slip up.

This response really bothered me.
He either flat out lied to the public or he should have known about the red shirt that was talked about all day yesterday by numerous sources.

If he really did not know about it then I am now concerned about how in touch he is with the investigators.
Parse his words: He commented on 'found' not on a red shirt. He doesn't want to give information away.

wild thought - Did anyone else think that the dog was placed in the basement intentionally so molllie can go there and he/she can get Mollie from there? no forced entry , glass/contacts/wallet at home - the only missing is cellphone and tidbit.

Suggest to the family/LE to check internet records of their home DSL . Usage report will show activities on the internet

Wasn't it found near the pig farm they had been searching? If found after the search doesn't it stand to reason if the perp place it there he/she would want them to keep looking there......like a red herring.....throwing them off?

I believe Mollie's case gained so much interest was not because she was a particular race but more because she was a young woman who is the 'girl next door' - and as a society, some may not like this, girls are supposed to be protected more than boys and as a society if a young girl like Mollie or a child vanishes there is a heightened concern. Add in the heartland of our country and a tiny town not that far from Chicago, one of the largest cities in our Country and I can see a multitude of additional reasons why her case picked up steam early.

And I wish someone in the room has asked her two questions -

If runaways was the category for most missing =why was that label not used in their report.

AND

What exactly Mollie's classification means. It is different from all of the others in their annual report.
I think the case has generated so much interest because of the way she vanished without a trace. She lived a very normal life in a small town. She had close family and a boyfriend who loved her. She kept in touch regularly on social media. There are no indications that she was suicidal, nor a runaway. And if she was a runaway, she would have needed transportation, because her shared car was at her family's house at the time. So that's not very likely. It looks very much like an abduction, IMHO.

Q. It has been reported that a red shirt has been found and I was wondering can you shed any light on whether a red shirt has been found and whether there is any kind of a nexus between the red shirt that may have been found and Mollie and do you actually at this stage have any suspects?

A. I don't have any information with me today on a red shirt being found, and that's not to say that there was one found or not found. I just don't have that information.

To date there have only been 2 major searches that we’re aware of – the pig farm and the Lincoln Wildlife area which carried on after dark. What sort of an answer is “I don’t have any information with me today”. What, did he leave that information somewhere? As the head of the investigation he must at the very least know about it (the red shirt).

It was just heartbreaking to see Rob and Dalton. You could be forgiven for thinking they had just been told the worst news. The look on their faces says it all. The best case scenario, not that there is a best case, is that a red shirt with the logo on it was found, they've been told, and now they're awaiting the results of DNA testing. We need to pray for this family tonight.

I'M new -
have been following since finding out Mollie was missing.

If I'm correct in Tommy Bearsons case (ND) (he was from near my hometown) they got to look at the exact details of his snapchat correct? Or was it that people just remembered?

Could be that he's intentionally out of touch to avoid slipping info. Moo.
I think this is a very good possibility. He's a spokesperson, not an investigator in this case, I think. (Not confirmed anywhere, just what it seems like to me.)

Something is bothering me about the Snapchat...Mollie sent her BF a snapshot photo, did he reply?
He did not reply.

That was the night AFTER the night she went missing, I believe. After they had reported her missing. I'm sure it made the initial search challenging, though.

I have never heard LE ask the public for the reason a person is missing. This blows my mind...as I can’t help but think they do not know. Sorry to repeat myself but why would they ask this?? Who could know the reason except and unless there is a perp?

Also, no doubt LE is working round the clock...but that does not mean they are making progress.

Oh my margarita, I had no idea... that case is what brought me to web sleuths.

Me too. Well actually I lurked here before that, but that was the case that got me to sign up. That was a very bizarre case. It's hard for me to be shocked by anything, but that one shocked me, a bit.
