Honestly wouldn't surprise me if she just didn't bring it with her. If she was wearing running clothes it's very possible she wouldn't have a pocket for her ID/wallet. Only a mile from her boyfriend's house to her mom's house, and I'm sure she's driven the route a few hundred times. I know some are very strict rule-followers, but I wouldn't think twice driving about driving a familiar one mile route without my license. (To clarify, I possess a driver's license, but am saying I would drive such a short route if I didn't have the physical license on me. ie if I forgot it or something like that.)

To each their own, and it probably depends on Mollie's personality, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if she didn't think it was a big deal. JMO
Considering that she lived in Brooklyn, IA, I don't think she would feel the need to have her license with her, either. In my neck of the woods, I'll see two police officers every morning on my short ride to work. I'll bet you might see the sheriff in Brooklyn maybe once a month or so.

It's just that if someone posts a broken quote and then that post gets quoted it ends up getting really mixed up, and after a few requotes it gets worse and worse and presumably makes a lot of work for the mods to figure out what it's supposed to look like.

So I guess the best thing to do is to hit 'report' and not quote it, and just say "in reply to xxxx's post" if you do want to reply to it?
I think people want to know what an actual broken quote looks like. Is it when people respond inside another’s post- in between the quotes?

This hit our news the day before yesterday. I think it's too far away to be Mollie and is probably someone from the area, but no info has been released at this time. I'm still trying to figure out who is missing locally. The two I knew of have both been found deceased - Megan Nichols after 4 years, and Beth Bentley after 8 years. We of course have had others, but I'm not aware of any outstanding. We are on the I57 and I65 corridor - major traffic almost all the time, tons of trucks and truckstops (3 within 10 miles of my location). If it is a SK (and I don't think it is), then Mollie could be anywhere.

Usually when they go on a field trip like that in this type of camp, the have more than enough staff ( and often volunteer parents) to keep track of the kids. When she didn't show up, they did think it was unusual but thought she must have a good reason. I'm sure there was a LOT of preparation like putting sunscreen on kids, making sure they had the proper paperwork , such as permission slips and emergency contact info, etc. Then there's loading kids into the bus, counting them, kids having to go to the bathroom, someone forgetting money for the trip, and all kinds of things to do. They tried to contact Mollie but got no answer. Maybe when they had already arrived at the fair. Not sure of the time. At that point they were concerned and called the boyfriend.

Where do volunteers come from? Most people are working if they are the parents. Do others need a background check?

Volunteers are great, but staff is the most important as they know the kids and the protocols.

I would have called to see if she was running late or if she had car trouble . I would have sent a staff member to get her if it was a transportation issue.

Field trips are incredibly stressful. I cannot even imagine bringing kids to a fair.

Re: driver's license--I took a look at the Iowa laws. Driving without a valid driver's license is a misdemeanor.

On the other hand, driving with a valid driver's license that just doesn't happen to be in your possession is an 'infraction'--the worst that can happen is a fine, and there was a strong implication that you had a good chance of getting off with nothing.

Consider that her mother's place is about a mile, driving on quiet streets. And she's a pretty girl who may have already had experience to show her that big eyes and an apologetic voice can get you out of traffic tickets.

That's a roundabout way of saying that I agree.

Given that Brooklyn is right off I80 and we have talked about truckers and truck stops, I don’t think that should necessarily be ruled out.

A 3 hour phone call very unusual for a father and daughter and is highly significant that something very very serious was being discussed. That is way too long for even a "regular" serious issue. This might have been life altering level. Maybe the Dad told her boyfriend was bad news and that he and the family would not support her any more if she stayed with him? Maybe she confided in the father some other issue (drugs, theft, abortion, etc.) that was the reason for the long conversation. I have a 25 year old daughter who studies hours away and actually studied in Europe for a semester.. .and me and my wife NEVER HAD any conversation longer than an hour and a half.

Just my 2 cents worth.

The details of that conversation probably hold the clues to the disappearance.

My brother and I have an 8-hour record, long-distance on landlines. First 4 hours was on him and the second 4 hours was on me.

Mollie and her father appear to have a very close relationship and I don't find a three-hour conversation to be unusual considering her father had recently married, she was getting her first apartment, getting ready to start school, going to the Dominican Republic for a wedding, etc. I don't have a link handy, so I'll just say IMO, it was reported that they spoke about all of these things as well as books she was reading and other things.

Her father said it wasn't particularly unusual.

He'd just gotten remarried--they might have been rehashing things related to that.

She's just gotten an apartment, and is on the verge of traveling abroad for the first time.

Besides--we're missing something. She's an intelligent person--maybe she cares about and talks about things other than herself. (Politics, ideas, etc.)

I have not heard of any billboards put up of mollie in Iowa, or in other states. That’s usually an automatic with a missing persons case with this much attention. That would be another sign as to an inside, or local job.
There were multiple billboards and fliers at every public place for miles....like you had to literally be living in a cave to not have heard about Mollie.
