So Beautiful, made me cry!

Ireland as well.

What is interesting is it's legal in Iceland for citizens to carry a gun. I believe 30% do. Such an amazingly beautiful country and the most welcoming communities .

The two suspects in police custody won’t be interrogated today. They were interrogated yesterday and the day before, one day each, one of them well into last evening. Neither suspect had confessed.

Police are convinced Birna’s shoes, found Monday, January 16, by Hafnarfjörður harbor, had been planted there on purpose. Whether that was done to deceive the police was yet to be found out. Snow on the shoes’ soles surprised investigators, since there was no snow in the capital area the morning she disappeared.

Birna is believed to have been picked up by the suspects in their rental car in downtown Reykjavík at about 5:30 am on January 14 and driven to Hafnarfjörður. The police have yet to find out where one of the suspects drove the car, a red Kia Rio, between the hours of 7 am and 11 am that morning. If you have information about the car, pictured above, during those hours, please contact the police at +354 444-1000 or send them a Facebook message https://www.facebook.com/logreglan, or send an email to abending@lrh.is.

The two suspects will remain in police custody until February 2nd.

[h=1]Crew Member’s Jacket among Confiscated Items[/h]
According to Fréttablaðið, the third crew member stepped forward because of his jacket, which he said he forgot inside the red Kia Rio, rented by two other crew members, who remain in police custody, suspected in Birna’s death. RÚV radio reported during the 12:20 pm news hour that the owner of the jacket was suspicious of the fact that his jacket had been washed in the washer aboard the ship on Saturday without his prior knowledge.

He thought nothing of it until the ship was made to turn around on its way to Greenland. At that time, he became suspicious and subsequently notified the police. The police have not confirmed what items were confiscated aboard the ship.
The police have been researching ocean currents in the area between January 14 and 22 in an effort to determine where exactly her body was thrown into the ocean. The result of that research, Fréttablaðið reports, is a special focus on the coastal area from Grindavík in the west to Óseyrarbrú bridge in the east.

It looks like TMO's girlfriend has dumped him...

I feel for her too, the horror of finding out something like this is lurking in the mind of a loved one, seeing Birna's photo and knowing someday, eventually, it would be you next....

Yes, it's unimaginable. It looks as though they dated for quite a while; I wonder if there were ever any signs that he could be capable of something like this.

If you click on the following link you can see a video from the memorial march that was held in Birna's honour yesterday. About 8,000 people in Reykjavík attended and it was held in other places around the island too. They walked from Hlemmur, a bus station at the end of Laugavegur to Laugavegur 31 where Birna was last seen. Candles and flowers were laid on the steps of Laugavegur 31. They then walked on and ended at Arnarhóll which is a hill where the statue of Ingólfur Arnason, who was the first settler of Reykjavík, is situated.

Thank you for posting photos, they are so beautiful. I wish more communities on Earth would regard their lost with this kind of love and reverence. Life is truly that precious.

I completely agree. We have become so tolerant of crime in our country, that sometimes we give almost no thought of those innocent people who have died as a result of violent offenses. I am thankful for the way Iceland has showed us their national outrage, and in doing so, exposed our inappropriate acceptance of violence.

We have so much that we consider it normal
