Hi everyone. I'm new here and so disturbed by this. Moscow is my hometown, my parents still live there, and I am a University of Idaho alum. I lived on Taylor Ave back in my college days (long ago) which is right by Queen and King Ave. Similar situation, I lived with 5 friends. We came and went, had lots of friends over, didn't worry much about safety or locking doors.

This victims house is right in the middle of the university, very close to Greek row and there are apartments and converted houses all over. Lots of people coming and going.

Moscow is a quiet town, often described as boring! I texted my parents tonight to remind them to lock their doors, something they hardly ever do. It's just unreal that this has happened, and that there are so few answers.

I'll be hanging out here because I'm desperate to know what happened, and glad to answer any local info that could possibly help when/if I can (I don't live there anymore but go back to visit a few times a year).
Welcome to WS @huskyvandal. It's always good to have local insight. I'm so sorry for the Moscow community and also the worry this has to bring you for the welfare of your parents. o_O

This is a link that may include what you are looking for, although they appear to be live only.
I just emailed the Idaho Department of Transportation. It's a long shot. But, if we can look at those cameras during the 1am - 3am time-frame, we might be able to see if any cars follow the two girls' car.

Did they release any description information on their vehicles yet? Sure would be nice.

As totally speculative theories go, here's one to explain access.

Dog hears or sees someone outside through the glass doors and barks. Ethan wakes up, thinks the dog wants to go out, and opens the sliding door. He stands around in the kitchen waiting, and then lets the dog back in without relocking the door, leaving it an access point. Or, the attacker comes in and attacks either when he first opens it or with the dog. Please note I'm not blaming Ethan in any way, I've certainly let my dog out in the middle of the night and realized in the morning I left the door unlocked.

They did not release that info. What we did hear is that Kaylee and Maddie took an uber home, according to the family of Kaylee in this interview. Extended interview with the family of Kaylee Goncalves, one of the Moscow homicide victims

I guess anything is possible, but it's hard for me to believe that the red drips running down the outside of the house is blood from inside the house. We had a plumbing emergency where water was running all over the floor, but it didn't run outside the house and down the walls. Just seems a little far fetched.

You know, I’ve honestly wondered if the photos were doctored and I wouldn’t put it past the DM. Were there other photos taken by other outlets? If so, I haven’t seen them.

I think that’s a very strong possibility. That or something along those lines. That being said, there’s just so much that we don’t know.
Personally, I'm surprised that they are letting students go home. You would think that they would want to vet every single student before letting them leave the area. Especially since evidence could go home with them.

I'm curious if they walked home from the food truck with their pasta. While 1.2 miles in general is not that far of a walk, it was very late, they seemed to be somewhat intoxicated, they also had hot food that would grow cold by the time they got home. It would be odd to me that they would walk but who knows? If they DID walk, I think that could definitely have put them in someone's cross hairs who may have seen them, followed from a distance or even in a car, and then waited until the lights were out to enter the home.
I live here in Moscow. It’s not that long of a walk. Lots of people do it. The. Again, a lot of people drink and drive here also.
No someone had mentioned that they had ubered

I find it a little hard to believe too. I worked disaster cleanup for a while, and we'd go into places with water standing an inch up the baseboards, rubber boots, pumping it out with a truck, and I never saw it coming out the side of the house. But maybe there was some flaw or weakness in the construction.

For Reference: Location of Food Truck (red dot) and direction of travel for the two females (green arrow), which leads to a parking lot.

Second Photo is best route from Food Truck to Location of the House via Google Maps. *Best route does not equate to route driven. However, when looking for cameras to look through, it's nice to have a starting point.

Might want to take another look - that stretch of Washington/Hwy 95 is a one-way street heading north.

If driving south from your red dot, I think most people heading to their neighborhood would most likely continue south on Main until taking a right on 6th, left on Jackson/southbound Hwy 95, and right on Taylor, which leads all the way to King. Alternately, you could cut through campus by staying on 6th or turning off of Jackson earlier, but my original is what I expect an Uber driver would take.

Never wanted to pay for a cab, so we always walked from downtown when I lived in their neighborhood. But if Moscow has Uber/Lyft/whatever now, that'd be the quickest, easiest route, avoiding most of the foot traffic on campus.

Welcome to Websleuths @Nobody0330! Thanks for this info. And I’m very sorry for what Moscow is going through right now. We’ve spent time there and it’s a lovely campus.

Kaylee Goncalves

Normally when a murder occurs, the social media of the victims and suspects are taken down within minutes of the revelation of names. Yet with this case, I have seen the social media of all the victims. Why is this? I thought it was standard operating procedure to remove them.

The green arrow is walking, not driving. I had not read about the Uber until after posting that. Based on the video, that is the direction that they walked away from the food truck. Anything else is speculation, so I won't suggest where they caught the Uber until LE says.

*Google Maps needs to provide better directions and NOT tell me to go down a 1-way*

So the Sweet Ave camera would still be something to look at? Is that what I am gathering from your directions?

If jugular was severed, could bleed out in 15 seconds or less.

Male was found on the floor which implies females were not on the floor. If deaths were between 3 and 4 am, not likely they could have left food truck and got home and fell asleep and been murdered in an hr. So, maybe the couple was on the middle level asleep? Two gals arrived home not too terribly long before 3 am., ate and then were attacked? Male heard attacks and went to investigate and was stabbed? So why the girlfriend? just doesn’t seem likely???? Motive wasn’t robbery. Nothing missing. No mention of rape so not crime of opportunity. Just quick murders of 4 people? Sounds planned and personal. If door was open/unlocked when police arrived, but gals locked when they got home, how did killer(s) get in? Did someone let them in? How did they know where to find the victims? 1 hr is pretty efficient to kill 4 people? So they must have known their killers IMO What was the loud noise from sat night? Was there a fight about something? We’re the 3 girls the target since they grew up together? U don’t plan to kill one and then just kill 3 more because they were there? I just can’t make sense of it all. Without a few more details, I can’t form a theory. Sorry for the ramblings. You just don’t stab 4 people without a personal grudge or in a temporary fit of anger. Killer was angry with all of them IMO. I sure hope the families get some answers. So many lives ruined. I’m gonna go cry now.
The sister said door was locked bc they always do but truth is they were drinking and could have missed a door or forgot . So we actually do not factually know if the doors were all locked . Also they could have killed the others simply bc the target was upstairs and Ethan and gf had ran into intruder and thus leading to the intruder killing them to be able to get upstairs . I do agree this had to have been someone who was angry for some reason

Welcome.

Appreciate the input. Are there any other ride apps or services, like the College's campus escort or doesn't that work for town? Is it common for people to give rides to others walking back to campus from town?

Anything we can offer to you, or any other new people touched by this tragedy, please ask.

Snipped by myself.

Quoting myself to say; that this video link describes the unknown male becoming upset that the students (--not the victims in this case, afaik ! ) were walking along the bike path and he felt they were either blocking his way, or not moving out of the way fast enough.
So he showed or threatened with a knife on his person.
Later turned himself in to the police and afaik , that is all we know.
Wonderful chap.

A good way to get LE's attention even if you are innocent of committing any crimes !
Imo.
That's the story that the persons he displayed the knife to told, anyway. Possibly, he asked them to move, was then threatened by them and in return displayed the knife to prevent an escalation. Not saying it is a good idea to stop arguments by flashing knives, but this man has been cleared by cops and should not be vilified without concrete proof.
