Re:Hyundai Elantra. If LE had the car, they'd know what year it was. Logic tells me they don't have it.

They are asking about before and during the time of the murders. Logic tells me they either have something on it after that time frame going away from the scene, so it might been parked somewhere, have come in from another direction, someone dropping someone off or picking them up, perhaps (Possibly the killer, sure) OR it might have been a vehicle in a video seen driving in front or behind the safe ride for K & M.

If K &M had just been dropped off by their safe ride at 1:56 am, surely there were other safe ride vehicles still out. Sometimes they pick up more than one to drop off various places. This could account for occupant(s) as a possibility.

I can see both sides: innocent vehicle out for non nefarious reasons, getaway car for a murderer.

I am not sure we can exclude that they were calls for help. You are assuming perfect or even sound judgment when these victims were drunk, and may have felt that after being creeped out or threat by someone that it was better to call a friend than cops. Or that they may have taken time between calls attempting to wake someone. The calls may well 100% had to do with being followed, threatened, creeped out by the assailant, even hearing things outside, but they may have been hesitant to call in quick succession.

If you take a good self defense class one lesson that a good instructor will repeat is "Do NOT embarrassed to call for help. the reason for that is because so many people are hesitant.

I think there is a better than even chance those calls are relevant attack
The family said the girls would not have called the person the phone number belonged to, if they were in trouble they would have called 911.

Unless a) the cops already have the vehicle remember they specifically did not include sightings after the crime in their request, so it seems they are not seeking the vehicle.

b) or they have a picture of it being somewhere nearby in which case even a night time image can result good idea of color, model and year series from aspects and relative geometry of the tail lights (similar to facial ID). The FBI certainly would have a database and algorithms to ID cars from imagery

I agree about eyewitness IDing. But machine imagery analysis sophistication and capability has grown fantastically in the last few years. They can id cars form aspects of a single door or fender. if that car had been imaged in a well lit area they would know make, model, year series and color -- and be seeking additional information if it had been sighted following victims movements in days, hours or minutes up to attack
They did say they don’t know the tag.

I saw it on the Moscow (MPD) website.

And they alerted the Border Patrol to BOLO

Doesn’t sound like they have the vehicle.

“MOSCOW, Idaho – Detectives are interested in speaking with the occupant(s) of a white 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra, with an unknown license plate.”

I believe the last thread had a photo that showed the day time view which helped showed the lights in the windows of 1122 ,we probably need to put these two photos together in this thread, but the short is ,watch the windows and the lights . It does look like the murderer drove right up as the body footage was going .You see the head lights turn off.
Can someone point me towards the location of the video in question and the images from said video?

TIA.

No response from the vehicle owner. That means local hiding or car left town.

Probably not taking main arterial routes due to cameras and numberplate readers. Some countries have full camera automation.

I wonder if security cameras have gone to full automated AI vehicle recognition?

Yes, there is that probability, but I don't believe the calls were relevant to the attack at all. If K & M were that upset, I find it difficult to believe they would have shut the light out and fallen asleep. LE has stated they believe the victims were asleep when they were attacked.
I will cordially disagree.
When you say "that upset" what do you mean? How upset? They do not have to have been hysterically worried to have called based on unease at something that happened. Maybe they were mildly upset at someone creeping them out, or heard noises outside. They would not have to have envisaged being victims of a mass murder to have been creeped out a bit and wanting to call a friend to ask what to do or maybe come over

They were visibly drunk at that food truck. so supposing rationality is not relevant. they could have been sleeping in same bed because they were drunk and passed out, or because they were a bit frightened or uneasy.

I haven't read a single thing that excludes them calling because of a fear or worry about something the murderer may have triggered.

But K's Range Rover was red, not black, and it looked nothing like a luxury SUV.

Maybe I'm missing something(?). I'm trying to catch up here and may have skipped over another piece of info. If that's the case, I apologize.
Red? I don’t think so. Pretty sure it is silver. MOO

One area that I keep coming back to are the strange stairs that lead from Shetland Ct. all the way up to Walenta. You still have to clear a few houses, however.

The attached gives addresses regarding points of entry/exit (N, S, W, E) to 1122.

That's a good path that could lead to the sidewalk on walenta which would lead to the perp possibly having eye contact on the house/victims. Maybe they walk by and get infatuated with the people that live there.

There are a lot of nice houses in that area so I would think there would be quite a few amount of cameras. I'm sure the police have all available cameras from that neighborhood by now.

I seriously doubt they're sending undercover cops to a high-profile crime scene that is crawling with media. MOO

They could be from a specialised area within the police department, not on the ground, in the field type of cops.

They might be interested in becoming undercover cops in the future.

They don’t want to be identified as mentioned in other posts.

Maybe, unsworn officers collecting data…..

I hate to correct a fellow Scorpio but I think Kaylee’s RR was white.

Man, I thought it looked gray. We're all over the place here!

White-ish? :)

I’m so so so behind in this thread due to the million activities my kids participate in but I too thought grayish! Lol. Damn news photography!!!
To anyone interested. The named color Land Rover uses is "Indus Silver Metalic"

Chance that car was dumped in the woods. Lots of Tree Cover in Idaho and WA.

Tell family and friends Car is in the shop.

10 yr old Hyundai, chances are it knew the inside of Car Repair shops.

I have a feeling this will end up similar to the delphi case or the JonBenet case;
it will either go unsolved or take years to solve.
I hope not for the sake of the loved ones of the 4 victims

If they were emergent calls for help, they probably wouldn't have called the same friend over and over.

My opinion.
But that is a strawman of sorts. Why would you insist they had to be emergent (urgent?emergency?) calls for help? women are followed lots'. They are hassled and intimidated lots. And they were DRUNK.

People are arguing this as if the girls would have known what we know, that they were going to be murdered. They did not know that. They may have wanted to ask their friend what to do if they sensed they were being followed. Or someone had creeped them out at a bar. Or if dog was barking at someone etc. Or a car seemed to be following them. Or if the lock on their sliding door seemed tampered with.

It is not logical to project what sober people, who know they are going to be attacked or murdered, would do, to what drunk people who do not know the urgency, but feel unease or worry would do.

I hate that people are saying they think this case will go unsolved or it’s becoming a cold case after less than a month with new leads still coming out.

I have hope and faith in the police and FBI that they will solve this case quickly. And hopefully they already have their eye on a POI or multiple POIs and just need to narrow it down/compile more proof for an arrest.

My opinion is a little different.

There are a lot of cameras out there. They could pick up that car in WA (in November even) and check the owner, and see things don’t add up when they ask basic questions.

I think Le has a lot of evidence. The DA was already talking about jury selection in Moscow. To me that didn’t sound like a man who thinks it was headed towards goin cold. I think LE are closing in
