Thank you gliving! I have always wondered about the noise the stairs & wood flooring may have made. Another piece of the puzzle that confirms (imo) that EC/XK were most likely awakened by the killer's movements, and by possible vocalizations from the poor girls upstairs. The wood surfaces in my own house make more noise in low-humidity months, although I don't know if those cold months in Moscow are also low humidity. Most likely the house would be drier if indoor heating is constantly cranked up.Idaho murders: Everybody can hear each others' footsteps in 'creaky' house, former resident says
A University of Idaho graduate who previously lived in the off-campus house where four students were killed is speaking out to ABC News.abcnews.go.com
"It's definitely an old, creaky house," said (CA), who graduated in 2022 and lived in the house during his junior year. "You can't walk up any of the stairs or on any of the floors without everybody in the house knowing it."
(snip)
The neighborhood and this house have a "very active party life," (CA) said
"A lot of students are very familiar with the inside of the home," he said.
"At parties, people would hop the fence and just, like, walk away if the cops came," he added.
