I dont think its a sexual assault at all.
they saw something and died because of what they saw. JMO
What did they see?? An illegal act, a liaison, a crime, a love affair, a teacher, someone they knew, someone they weren't expecting, a maniac, more than one person ?

Just an explanatory note. By "*advertiser censored* butt" R means a cigarette end. I'm sure you all knew that but just in case.

I agree there may be little DNA if they were shot from across the creek for instance, as they were escaping. There would then be ballistics however IMO.
Nope, they were not shot. That would not have fulfilled him and all the preparation he spent getting ready for this day. I believe they were garroted. Up close and personal.

Eileen: true enough but are you saying everything he touched or used he carried off with him? Doubtful. He would have been in a frenzied state and rushing to do his evil deeds & get out of there. This is why I believe he made the fateful mistake of not taking the phone! IMO
Think BUNDY. He liked close & personal. He would go back to where he left the bodies to relive that moment, check the area for anything he might have left & sometimes molest them again.

Blimey didn't think USA and UK have different meanings for different things. Thanks for pulling me up.

IMOO Fellow sleuths are keeping the option of a drug connection open for the following reasons 1. Someone close to the victims have had drug related crime in their past 2. Other mysterious homicides in the area such as the death of 4 little girls in a house fire in Flora & the shooting death of a teen girl after Abby and Libby were killed 3. The round up of various individuals in the area after the murders as a result of being questioned in the investigation of the murders. The links to these events are in media thread at the top of each thread and discussion throughout the other threads here. All JMOO

I dont think he touched much of anything at all.

Wasnt the correct quote given by her grandfather that knowing her, she probably fought like hell? We don't know for a fact that she fought back.
No of course we don't know it for a fact. We don't know much at all for a fact hence all the spec.

Could have been anyone of the above, I suspect it is an illegal act or crime by someone they knew of, not necessarily someone they personally knew.

I don't think the girls saw anything. The perp knew people frequented the trail and the bridge. If he was doing anything illegal, anyone could have seen him doing whatever. The girls were there. He was there. Until this is solved, I'll continue to think he knew they were going to be there. Yeah, I have nothing to base that on, but there is so little info to base anything on. It is just my guess.

Like i have said many times they saw something or they knew him.
He may not have even touched them he could have hit them with a rock or a tree limb. Thus no DNA unless they find whatever he touched.. he silenced them. IMO not a sexual attack.

In the interview about "who Libby and Abby were" it was said that the girls went there often and that it was a favorite place of theirs. Maybe they did see something earlier in time and as someone else here said, Libby was a forensic / crime enthusiast. Maybe, once they saw something earlier, they continued to go to Deer Creek to "follow up" on their investigation. Maybe DID contact their killer via SM to further their investigations... I'm beginning to see how some here are approaching this crime and beginning to see the value of their way of thinking. It is at least very worth pursuing this direction of thought imo. These murders could so easily be "passively disguised" as sex crimes... it is so easy to jump to that conclusion. Yet, the murders may have nothing to do with sexual assault at all. Two little girls who had discovered too much and were discovered by their killer doing so. (If so... he had friend(s) in Delphi but probably doesn't live there himself, imo; and friend(s) very close to the area of the murders, imo.)

But BG didn't return because there were searchers and no time or opportunity to return . Also, he may even have stolen items from the girls for a memento. I agree he was in a rush and that is how he missed the phone.

IMO, the girls weren't investigating anything. It was a nice day and they took advantage of it by going to the bridge to take pictures, period.

Keep hopeful, Eileen. Libby "put up a fight" per her grandfather. I hope she dug her nails into his flesh like a tiger!

But that didn't happen. There would be no need to work on isolating the DNA if that was the case.

I think the phone was in her pocket.

Exactly innocent day out not meeting anyone no online creeps .

That is ok to think that. But how did he know they were going to be there? Did he entrap them or did they entrap him/s her/s the young people these days are I personally think very clever albeit at times naive

I really must go back to lurking
