Surely they have to? They need a big push on this, particularly emphasising areas they are lacking info on. I would think they would release a bit more information, to keep the momentum and also to ensure front pages. The anniversary will be heartbreaking, but it is also an opportunity to maybe do a reconstruction of the girls on the bridge perhaps (if they're still looking for witnesses from that day) and to push the photos, voice and picture of the BG.

I would think something new from the police would really help. Someone knows who this monster is and the police and media need to do everything they can to encourage people to look at their consciences.

One last thing. I've read a lot on this but am uncertain whether the police have ever described the BG as being someone who could commit a similar crime again? This is important as it is something like this that can make people contact the police due to concerns about a loved one or friend.

Yes they have said he could strike again ( and some of us think he has). In the media thread there is an interview with Sgt Holeman where he says (paraphrase) next time this could be your wife, sister, husband or brother etc. That is quite chilling when I think of that now, with the similarities to the TW murder.

I’m not a fan either I’m just glad people might read about the case that didn’t know about it before.

How do you all think law enforcement will handle the one year anniversary? Do you think they will hold another press conference or do an interview to appeal once again for information?

I do not expect more than a blanket statement from LE such as, "we continue to track down leads...". If they offer more than that then, I will be delighted to be wrong.

I remain perplexed about how BG was able to do whatever he did within the tight timeframe.

One thing that I do know is that LE used a metal detector during their search on RLs property. What I don't know is if they found anything helpful or not.

Apologies if this is a rerun, I don't think it is though.(I went back to see if it was covered yet and don't see where it was.) GH released a video late on 12/23, about the time this thread was shut down. It's the route taken to the bridge when the girls were to be picked up and events that transpired immediately afterward with approximate times, and then possible routes BG took to exit the area. He focuses on the old RR track that we talked about awhile back. Incredible he got away, it was such a very tight timeline, makes me wonder again if he removed the girls and brought them back later. (Crazy risky, I know, but so was committing the crime right then and there.)

Something that the GH's video reminded me of....

Looking at the area on Google Earth, if you move the satellite imagery back to 09/2014, there appears to be a vehicle on the shoulder near the entrance of the trail. I'm wondering how many here believe BG had this planned out for sometime or if they believe he just happened upon the area that fateful day.

I wonder if he might be somebody who masqueraded as someone who could plausibly be at the scene. Like pretending to put flowers on a grave in the little cemetery, or acting like he was repairing something? I really don't have anything specific in mind, just a niggling at the back of my mind...

Good Morning Carbuff!! I have thought this for a long time. I have a real estate broker client who sells foreclosures a/k/a (REO's). They often have independent companies or people who go to the houses to check on them, mow the lawn, shovel the snow, make sure the pipes don't freeze, etc. Many times they are not from the area and do travel to the location of the house. I have often thought this might be applicable in this case. IIRC, there was a house for sale or foreclosure on N300 at the time. It was a while ago that I looked it up.

Was just reading about how having only 2 towers really broadens the searchable area whereas having more helps to pinpoint location.

This website has a much better view of the cell towers in the area based upon FCC data. Towers generally have a radius of about 20 miles, towers in rural areas even further.

You can see by the picture below there are a good number of towers in the area.

It has been alluded to in past threads that DN does have a connection to the Delphi area. Is there a reason why we can't talk about that? Personally, I don't know the connection but if it's a business or person then why can't that be said? No names would have to be used IMO. I have been curious about this for a long time.

That's what I would like to know. One or more people here have the answer.

ETA: Like is the connection to a place or a person? I figured there was a reason why the poster didn't come right out and say what it was so I left it at that. However it is stuck in the back of my mind and really want to know and I don't see the harm as long as names are not used but that's just my opinion.

My understanding is he was known to have been in the Delphi area or at least close to the area at some point in time. That is based on previous comments I think I remember reading.

Does anyone have any more specifics than that?
How did anyone find out for sure that he was in the area?
Do we know what dates he was in the Delphi area?

Right, one of the Mears' heirs asked for the small parking area to be closed because they had renovated and were preparing to move in and live there.

The time of day and it being a weekday doesn't fit, but I've often wondered if BG maybe had a girlfriend in Delphi, possibly a few years ago. It could be that BG and his girlfriend went to that area to be intimate, maybe the girlfriend was married, or maybe it was just exciting. BG could have gone there in the hope of coming across a couple and quite possibly would have killed the man immediately and terrorised and killed the woman. The alternative is that he knew children weren't going to school that day. Somehow he knows that teenagers will go to that area unaccompanied, so it was worth a trip out to try his luck.

Either way, he may have been stalking around for several hours and becoming increasingly frustrated and even angry, as there were several adults there. Finally he spots the girls, this may not have been his planned quarry, but he's frustrated and he needs a 'kick'. He knows there's other people around and although they may not have seen him yet, the chances of being seen with the two girls is very high risk. So he's quick. He gets the girls under control (a gun/knife, threats to hurt one girl etc) and gets them to a 'safe' and unseen place asap.

I just think his past may lie in sex crimes. He started off as a peeping Tom and then moved into rape. He is undoubtedly a really horrible and frightening sexual partner. I think it's a wife or long term girlfriend who is the key to this. I hope to God they join up the dots sooner rather than later.

I know but... What connection? Alluding to info gleaned from SM or even MSM commenters is, in reality, only rumor IMO. To my knowledge there is no known connection of DN to Delphi that day. KN has said publicly that she went to her ultrasound that day and some other conflicting information from her. Supposedly she took him to his check in the next day. But she is vague at best and unreliable, IMO.
Why can't that be said? Well who said it? is it verifiable? Or is it conjecture based on supposed plausibility. What business? The meat plant? Some have posited that maybe he worked there as RSO's share info on employment.
LOL I am just honestly asking, not challenging as it may seem.

It's not so much about names as it is about facts. That is why we depend on MSM / LE for information. If there were a link to DN's connection to Delphi that day from a reliable source including the social media guidelines then yes We would be free as a bird to discuss that. Otherwise why? I don't know but this is just me - To sleuth and arrive at a theory I need some facts to base it on. But like I said JMO.

I wonder though, about what others think as far as introducing info about a connection of DN to Delphi. Even just in general. If it seems like it's not allowed we could ask Admin/Mods.

Honestly sunsetbeach I was basically just jumping off your post, not directed at you just the subject in general. It's a wicked bone of contention it seems.So I wonder if anyone can support it with factual info.
