OK, I've googled and read as much as I can to find the answer to my one question, but to no avail.
Aren't the black boxes supposed to ping whether on dry land or under water? If so, then why haven't we heard anything about the boxes pinging?
Thanks in advance!
The Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder are equipped with Underwater locator beacons that begin to ping once the device comes into contact with water
I don't believe their is a pinger installed in the units for crashes on land
Both are located in the tail section of the plane..so if a plane crashes on land they locate the tail section and "should" be able to find the recorders..
