But protesters on the streets and high school students who met with Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake on Wednesday have said there are rumors circulating that some kind of “verdict” will be rendered as soon as Friday.

“It became very clear … that people misunderstood,” Rawlings-Blake said.

Both Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts spent much of the day Wednesday trying to explain that no final resolution to the case would come Friday.

Hassan Murphy, a lawyer for Gray’s family, underscored their comments, saying, “This family wants justice and they want justice that comes at the right time and not too soon.”

Said Rawlings-Blake: “Whatever time the state’s attorney’s office needs to make that determination, the family wants to get it right.”

If these officers would have had body cameras it may have helped to show what really happened. The video that is out there does not have near enough information to know what happened.

When I first saw the existing video I thought the hurt guy had wrecked a bicycle and then I realized it was the officers bicycle in the video.

Body cameras may not be able to capture all angles to be able to prove what happened although it seems the officers themselves would want them so they are not accused of wrongdoings when they may not have done anything wrong.

Wonder if it is money issue or something else why there would not be a nationwide push to have body cameras. I am sure its expensive but it seems it would really help document things.

I dont think every police car even has cameras so its going to be a long long time if ever before every officer ends up with a body camera.

Does anyone know if the guy that was with FG has come forward or did LE arrest him also?

I didnt even know there was another person. Interesting. I did hear that there was another person in the same van/truck that he was escorted in but that may have been an arrest for something else.

The guy next to him could not see much because there was a metal wall between the 2 of them.

The guy you are talking about should be helpful to at least give info about what happened up until a certain point. If they both ran though he may not have seen the take down of his friend.

So...who leaked the police report to the WP...IMO, I think it was the same officer as the relative who came forward. I already think that it was the driver of the vans relative who gave the interview so saying Mr. Gray was still moving and nothing happened in the van helps the driver from taking any blame for injuring Mr. Gray, at least in their eyes.
MOO

Does anybody remember the basketball player that headbutted a wall or something and ended up paralyzed? I wonder if something similar to this is what happened.

Correct he might not have, however the guy that ran with him has just magically vanished not a word on him.

The WP article said that the other prisoner is still in jail.

ETA: Reading comprehension has not been my friend lately
The other man who they said ran with Freddie has not come forward AFAIK. I don't believe anyone has come forward who witnessed the actual chase and arrest, only people who were taking the cell phone videos have said something but they didn't witness the whole event.

From the looks of him entering the Van, with his head hanging sideways most of the time, he did not look to be in any condition to be head butting anything. He looked hurt real bad to me.

I know there is alleged banging noises being heard from the guy next to him in the other partition but I think if anything, he would be using his hands to try to get them to stop to get him some help for his pain.

He may have been in a bad position where he could not stand the ride the way he was being transported. There was not much room in where he was being held.

Yes, I posted about it earlier. People were saying there is no way someone could do this to themselves and this video shows how easy it is to do to yourself:

It's insane how easily it happens.

I disagree since he was acting crazy enough to need leg irons.

I have been waiting patiently about what happened to this other guy who ran in another direction. FG ran one way, the other guy ran in another direction. Is he real, or just made up?

It sure seems that there had to be a lot of commotion coming from the back of that van for the driver to pull over to put on leg irons.
The other passenger had no visual of freddie, the partition is solid, so for him to say that he heard freddie makes me think he was being combative. jmo idk

The cost of the cameras and also issues like FOIA, maintaining the public's privacy and how long the recordings should be retained and stored. jmo

Yep and him being handcuffed behind his back means he was either kicking, head butting or throwing his body around.

I'm gonna bet he is NOT telling the kids to run from the police. Just watched that Hannity video and saw Gray's attorney tells his kids to run from the police.

Sorry, but that is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
