I feel like there’s been some gaslighting taking place in this situation.
Anything is possible at this point. I just wonder, if any of her family (other than her brother), friends or co-workers noticed anything different recently. I just read an article posted about her co-worker's response to hearing that Kristin would be out for two days, and that she was alarmed when she first heard Kristin was going to be out, because she normally would text her daily.

Some things have me worried, but realizing that something medical could really be going on keeps me from trying to go in a direction that wouldn't be fair right now to those close around her. As someone else mentioned in this thread, there may have been a worker at their home she was nervous around- maybe she dreaded coming home with them in the house, without her husband or other family members around.

The fact that she wasn't seen leaving her home after her jog on Sunday night has me still worried, but she could have gone the back way and not be seen.

She left her phone behind, so if there was anyone in her life that she was going to meet secretly or leave with, I doubt she'd leave her phone for all to see who she last communicated with or made plans with.

I am her age and experienced this with perimenopause to an absolute extreme.

Same age and perimenopause has been an Absolute nightmare. 2 years of anxiety, depression, weight loss etc. I walked out of a 14 yr job that I loved and spent 2 years trying to get myself together. Back to work now, eating and sleeping much better but hormones can cause major havoc.

He says her husband told him he felt her get up around three in the morning and when he woke at six she was gone, and investigators say Jay Westra told them the back door was slightly open.

Rohrbach also says Jay Westra told him that Kristin was under a lot of stress and anxiety.

"I know that the husband has talked about that,” Stewart said. "But as far as our investigation is concerned, and what we're releasing, we're not going to comment on that."

Investigators working off 'credible information' in search for missing teacher

I agree it all sounds fishy, but I can tell you first hand that teachers are under an insane amount of pressure now. The demands are impossible and keep piling up. Mental health is a huge concern among educators. People can only take so much.

This wouldn't be the case, I attended the CIS where she teaches, and it's a very supportive, low pressure environment. Everyone looks out for each other, and the class size is usually between 4-6 children. If there was stress and anxiety in her life, her teaching was probably not the source. She had also been teaching there for more than 10 years, was close friends with the staff and parents, and seemed to enjoy her job. I can't ever remember a student getting detention, suspension, or expulsion. It's the ideal school to teach at IMO

I was originally very doubtful that her husband was involved, but him driving to the fire station makes me a little suspicious. It gives him an excuse for having his car out of the garage early in the morning. A vehicle would be the only way to remove her from the property if he had done something to her. They should check the security camera of his neighbors house, and try and figure out how long he was gone for, then time the drive from his house to the fire station. If it doesn't add up, that could give him the window he would need to do something.

I also wonder if the children were in the house, and what they saw/heard if anything. One of my friends said "I think this is going to be one of those cases where we find out what happened decades later, and it's something bizarre." I'm really starting to agree

Read most of the thread. Some thoughts on Maine from a Mainer.

I don’t find flip flops odd. I don’t find any footwear in Maine odd. I know people who wear flip flops/sandals all winter. They might throw on a pair of boots for a foot or more of snow. I’m always barefoot. If I have to wear shoes it’s sandals or sneakers. Boots only if I’m outside doing some sort of winter activity. Friends on farms live in muck boots. We vary on footwear.

Doors are not always locked. A string of break-ins will remind everyone again.

On the one occasion I had to call 911 it would have been faster just driving to the fire chief’s or constable’s house.

I’m wondering if she admitted herself for treatment to a MH unit/facility. There can often be a lengthy wait in the ER for a room. Maine also has crisis beds. I’m not sure the availability or wait time for these beds.

These places also are not likely to release info on whether or not she’s there either. She would need to sign a release of info before they would be able to let anyone know and then only info to who is on the release. I spent some years working in the Maine MH systems but never ran into LE requesting that kind of info so not sure if or what they would be given.

Some comments from the husband have me scratching my head:
"She was so thoughtful, she didn't want to wake me up (when she left", (again) She was very thoughtful...... She "was" perfect for me."
IMO, he went a little overboard praising her. Too much information. But "She WAS perfect for me" set off my hinky meter.

'We're here for you and we love you,' best friends pray for missing teacher's return
Drew Hoidal said she found out that Westra requested to have Monday and Tuesday off, but that Westra never told her she planned to be out, which Drew Hoidal said was uncharacteristic of Westra.

”It’s just been devastating to lose someone – or not being able to find and just being in this grey area of ok, come home, come home now," said Drew Hoidal. ”We all are just devastated that she wouldn’t think to tell us or her family. That’s the most concerning piece.”
