I really didn't think it was possible that it was her. I was thinking this afternoon about the barges going up and down the river and the debris they tend to drag along with them. (that was hard to type, makes me sick to my stomach)

That brings up an interesting point. Could a barge have dragged a body up the river? Bare in mind I'm not familiar with the area or the river so I don't know if the barges use all of the river or not.

That's what was I trying to get at, but I just couldn't say it. I would think that it's very possible. The barges definitely go up and down the river near St. Louis, so I would think they would be transporting near Winfield and Cape.

I guess there is a possibility this could be Jacque. It seems the body was found up river, but there is always a chance.

According to the article, it sounds like LE thinks it may be another woman....

Venneman said Elsberry police started investigating on July 8 the disappearance of Sherri Jane Wood, 50. She had property near the bank of the river at the end of Highway P, he said.

I think you are correct. All indications point toward it being Sherry Jane Wood, 51, of Elsberry

The note found on the front door looked to be a suicide note stating, “I’m going to heaven now; don’t bother looking for me.” According to Bodley, the note had specific instructions as to where Wood’s belongings should go.

Detectives are currently working on a missing persons case near the same area the body was found. They are looking for Sherri Jane Wood, a 50-year-old white female. Her property was located next to the Mississippi river at the end of Highway P. Detectives confirmed through relatives that a suicide note found at Sherri Wood's residence was written by her.

I think I read in an article yesterday that LE was actually considering this and have asked the LE in Winfield to contact local LE when more is known about the body that was found. I'll try to post the link if I can find the reference again.

[In fact, Humphreys said they are interested in the partly decomposed body of a woman that was pulled Sunday night from the Mississippi River near Winfield, Mo. The woman has not been identified, but Humphreys said he contacted Lincoln County authorities and asked to be contacted when she was. Authorities there told him they suspected it was a woman who recently went missing there, Humphreys said.] - excerpt from the following article today:

Thanks for the link, tbeldon! I figured it was possible, but the thought of it was sickening.

Does anyone know if Jacque was a large framed woman? The body they pulled from the Miss. was a large framed woman. I asked once before but no on answered.

I don't know about the woman who committed suicide. I haven't found a picture of her.

I am not sure what is meant by a large framed woman...I have seen a picture of Sherri Wood and she did not appear to be any longer than Jackie. ????

Jacque is 39-years-old, 5'2" tall, 135 lbs, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

I wouldn't consider 5'2" 135 lbs. to be large-framed at all!

Me neither. I never know when they say "large frame" if they mean size of the person or bone size. Broad shoulders, broad hips or heavier weight.

From the pictures I saw of Jacque she didn't look large in either way to me so I thought I would ask someone who knew.

That seems to rule her out. Thank God

Okay, I have searched and I can only find ONE woman's body pulled out of the Mississippi River on Sunday. At Winfield.

Unless there is a second body not mentioned in any of these news articles... I am stunned that the reporter... or the police did not google.

This was posted in news articles online 24 hours ago, that it was identified as Anna Mulkey.

It also said "small framed woman" in several articles before she was identified. Anna was even smaller than Jacque, only about 100 pounds.

Rest in Peace Anna............

I'm confused. Anna Mulkey was found in the Mississippi River in Winona, Minnesota. The body Jackson MO LE was waiting to hear about was found in the Mississippi in Winfield, Missouri on Sunday night.

RIP, Anna Mulkey.

We're still looking for Jacque. I hope they ID the body from Winfield, MO soon!

Hypothetical here:

Lets say a guy who is going through a divorce is talking to a friend who is an attorney, this attorney is super pissed because he was arrested and charged with threatening his girlfriend with a gun and hitting her. So this guy is talking to him man to man and they are comparing notes of how woman are so blah di blah blah...(rolls eyes) anyway, so this guy kills his soon to be x wife. He then calls his attorney friend, and this attorney friend ends up helping him hide the body or picking him up from a highway or whatever.

Only Hypothetical. lol

Sounds like a good movie plot but I can't see any attorney getting involved in covering up a murder. He would have way too much to loose. jmo

New article today...
http://www.semissourian.com/story/1754175.html

Snip:

Police say they have received a small number of calls from people in different parts of the country who reported seeing Jacque Waller alive.
In some cases, the callers left insufficient information to follow up, said Jackson police chief James Humphreys. In other cases, police made inquiries that led them to believe the information was false, he said.
But they're not investigating the case under the assumption that Jacque Waller disappeared of her own accord. They have said they suspect foul play and named her husband, Clay Waller, a person of interest in the case. Clay Waller remained incarcerated Wednesday on charges unrelated to his wife's disappearance.
"She had no reason just to walk away from her life," Humphreys said. "At this point, I think it's highly unlikely she will be found alive."
Lt. David James with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department said he was not even aware that there were Jacque Waller sightings other than a few local ones.
But he doesn't believe she walked away, either. "I would say I'm 99.999 percent sure that's not what happened," James said.
