“Detectives believe that he began working for Mr. Saleh when he was 16, and eventually started managing some of his finances as well as taking care of personal matters, like caring for his dog.”

IMO, the scenario was probably that FS befriended this young man and felt he was doing him a favour giving him work and encouragement, that he was being generous. And when Haspil stole from him, FS continued to want to be his benefactor, rather than destroy his life by reporting him to police.

Unfortunately, IMO, bringing someone into your penthouse home, letting them handle your money, can create envy rather than gratitude, especially in someone so young and immature as Haspil. They may realize you are only giving them a pittance of what you have, so they are no longer grateful, they just want to be rich like you are, and have the stuff and nice life that you have. And if they see you being careless because you have so much, why shouldn't they take what they want?

IMO, he killed FS because he thought that way he could keep the money he had stolen, no one would ever know about it, and he could steal more stuff like FS's credit cards.

I think it was greed rather than hatred.

I wonder why he was staying with the female and not in his Brooklyn residence?
He seems to have rented a luxury AirBnb to impress his girlfriend.

I can't imagine what his birthday friend is thinking now. I doubt she had a clue of what Haspil was capable of. She must be blindsided and in shock beyond belief.

unless....( just my late night cynicism)

I went there too with the late night cynicism...

Maybe LE are looking at the girl to see if she had any knowledge or involvement somehow.

Or she’s very disgusted at Tyrese like the rest of us.

Fahim Saleh’s executive assistant faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with the dismemberment police said Friday.

Haspil handled Saleh's finances and personal matters, according to police. He allegedly owed Saleh tens of thousands of dollars, and was on a repayment plan.

When Saleh's cousin rang the doorbell to his condo, the assistant was allegedly dismembering his body with an electrical saw and fled.

At about 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Haspil allegedly assaulted Saleh with a Taser before killing him. Fahim had stepped out of an elevator that went straight to his apartment.

I’ll be curious if/when it’s released what Haspil’s salary was working for Saleh. Since he’d been working with Saleh while in high school (presumably, because I read he was 16), One would think it may have started as a mentor/big brother type of thing and as he matured, Saleh gave him increased responsibilities.

Mystery woman with Fahim’s killer Haspil

''Accused Haspil originally lived in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. But he hid in an apartment on Crosby Street in Manhattan. It is believed that he rented it for a short time.

As for the video that came in the hands of the Daily Mail, it is an exclusive video. Haspil was seen on Crosby Street with the girl at 12.30 am local time on Wednesday.

The incident has raised questions about the young woman. The New York Police Department declined to comment in detail on whether she had been called in for questioning.''

Yes, maybe he looked up to or even idolized Saleh. He was given a huge amount of responsibility at a very young age.

He may have considered himself as being one of those closest to him and felt "entitled."

Then when he was fired and asked to pay back the money he was deeply offended and wanted revenge. He must have been in bad shape financially if he had to use Saleh's credit card to buy balloons for the woman's birthday.

This case reminds me a little of Selena, the Mexican American singer who was murdered by her manager. She was stealing from her and when Selena confronted her and asked her to produce missing financial records, she shot and killed her in a hotel room.

At an arraignment held just after midnight, Haspil, 21, Saleh’s executive assistant, was ordered held without bail on charges of second-degree murder for the gruesome crime on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Surveillance video shows Haspil at a Home Depot purchasing the saw and cleaning supplies found Tuesday at the crime scene, Manhattan assistant district attorney Linda Ford said at the arraignment.

Clothing the killer was seen wearing on surveillance footage from the address matched garments found in Haspil’s Brooklyn home, and investigators were also able to digitally track Hasil to and from the crime scene, Ford added.

“He is on video surveillance before and after the crime. He has been identified by at least two individuals from the videotape.”

Haspil then left the apartment with Saleh’s body inside.

The next day, he allegedly visited Home Depot to buy the saw and other supplies he is believed to have used to cut off Saleh’s limbs.

Judge Jonathan Svetkey ordered Haspil to be held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 17.

I think it was greed that caused hatred. With what we know so far it sounds like he was totally fixated on the gruesome murder and didn't do much cover his tracks. Knowing that he worked for him for 5 years and that he apparently refused to pay back the $90K, TH could have felt entitled to some of FS's wealth, like from Pathao that is worth around $100M and FS had partially cashed out of that. FS had for instance bought his father an approximate $90K car and so he was entitled to the $90K that he took because he in his mind directly earned that and more for companies like Pathao and Gokada.

It seems like TH was celebrating the murder as it was him who rented the Crosby space - that seems even nicer than FS's place - with FS's own credit card, which he had it rented from Wednesday to the following Monday. Usually embezzlers aren't violent and when they are violent it's only to escape, while this guy seemed to be unusually violent and spending FS's own money on the luxury rental doesn't seem like TH was really trying to cover things up as violence and instead rubbing his deceased boss's face in TH's entitlement seemed to be the priority. Business embezzlers usually are rather calm and they can have multiple business victims as they make arrangements to keep their ex-employers from going to LE as they find new business victims, they'll kill but not like this and this on-going embezzlement was contrary to TH's own interests in covering up the crime but at least to me seems to show an emotional element to the crime.

The evidence in this case is a prosecutor’s dream. Haspil better plead guilty and save the victim’s family the extra pain of a trial. With everything being presented in the media, no jury would deliberate for more than an hour on this case.

Legal Aid? He is so screwed.

Strange. Why would they represent a murder defendant?

Who We Are
The Legal Aid Society is a private, not-for-profit legal services organization, the oldest and largest in the nation, dedicated since 1876 to providing quality legal representation to low-income New Yorkers. It is dedicated to one simple but powerful belief: that no New Yorker should be denied access to justice because of poverty. This office represents tenants who live in Manhattan and are being sued in Housing Court or in a New York City Housing Authority termination proceeding.

Prosecutor: Video shows NYC dismemberment suspect buying saw
''New York
– Surveillance video shows the personal assistant charged in the death of a 33-year-old tech entrepreneur found dismembered in his luxury Manhattan condo buying the electric saw and cleaning supplies that were left near the body, prosecutors said Saturday.''

''Video surveillance from a hardware store that morning shows a man identified as Haspil purchasing the saw and cleaning supplies found at the seventh-floor apartment on the Lower East Side, according to court documents.''

''An email seeking comment was sent to Haspil’s lawyer.''

''Saleh was stabbed five times in the neck and torso and had wounds on his arm and left hand. He was dismembered just below the knees, at both shoulders and the neck, according to court papers.''

Maybe his response should be.. imo.
