True, nothing reported by the press can be 100 percent especially early on.

NY State Police confirmed the female civilian employee is a person of interest. That may change, of course.

Believe the woods referred to may be about 45-50 min from the CC Facility.

Thanks epiphany. Did MSNBC give a location? Lots of woods in the radius.

One more note - That 'retired head of detectives' who says Matt is 'well endowed' - omg............................... so that must be what that 'retired head of detectives' thinks women have tripping through their female heads ... LOL :notgood::hand:

Maybe thats where he carries his power tool.

"While the woman has not been arrested or charged, criminologist Casey Jordan said the notion of a female employee helping male inmates is certainly possible.

"I don't want to admit that it happens, but I know women who have met men in prisons working there, and fallen in love, and quit their jobs and married them when they got out," Jordan said.

"We call this, very often, hybristophilia. It is the psychological phenomenon where women are attracted to a bad boy. And sometimes the worse he is, the more deep the attraction."

Just saw Breaking News on CNN---apparently there have been sightings of two 'suspicious' men in a small town 30 miles south of the prison? Started with an M, but couldnt catch the name. Very rural place and they are actively searching the farm fields there now.

Could it be true that after all that planning they had no escape plan set uP? Are they just wandering around ?

No, they didn't, Screech. It took me a minute or two to realize that it wasn't in the immediate vicinity of CC Facility, but they did not indicate where it was.

Guess is MAY be in the area near the POI's home, but IDK

"The escapees could now still be within a 5- to 10-mile radius of the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, sources told the Albany-Times Union.

Still, there was a report of two men walking on a back road in a driving rainstorm about 40 miles from the prison early Tuesday, prompting a flood of police to that area, sources told The Post.

State police swarmed the tiny town of Willsboro after locals reported spotting the two pedestrians there, officials said.

While Willsboro would be an arduous hike southeast of the prison, several commercial rail lines connect the areas.

The suspicious pair were seen on Middle Road near State Route 22 at 2 a.m.,
according to Town Supervisor Shaun Gillilland."

BBM, just to clarify, they live in Dickinson Center, they work in Dannemora at Clinton CF.

About an hour drive, depending on the season.

Ah. Thanks.

The live reporting today (not just MSNBC) seems to indicate, that something went awry with their ride, IF they had one set up. Appear to believe (today, at least) that they are still on foot.

They are in Willsboro, NY off Middle Road

Surprised that they did not harm the person who apparently spotted them in his backyard, given this statement..

"He is the most vicious, evil person I've ever come across in 38 years as a police officer," DiBernardo said. DiBernardo also said Matt was "cunning" and "physically strong."

The Times reports that this sentiment has been echoed by others who came into contact with Matt.

One retired law-enforcement official pointed out to The Times how vicious he thought Matt was: "A lot of people get killed. Not many killers take the time to dismember the body."

I know, so scary they saw them in their backyard...cringe

Walking down the street in daylight…I don't buy it. One person said he saw them, he approached them and they ran...as reported by CNN

Why ditch all the tools so quickly? Could come in handy. Sighted with guitar case & not that heavy. Really nothing left to lose.

A law enforcement source briefed on the case also said State Police investigators believe the inmates, Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, may have received the small hand-held saw and other tools from a female civilian employee who had developed a personal relationship with Matt and smuggled the tool into the prison.

Employees at state prisons are not required to pass through metal detectors when they enter the facilties
, although bags and purses are supposed to be searched. There is a size limit on the bags that employees carry into the facilities, but it is rarely enforced, according to an official with the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The convicts are believed to have used a small, hand-held electrical saw that Mitchell smuggled into the prison for them, as well as a 20-pound sledgehammer, to escape, sources told the Times-Union.

It’s not clear where the men got the hammer, but they used it to break the lock on the manhole cover through which they escaped outside the prison.

Had to be a damn good saw and blade. 3/8" steel cell wall and look at the pipe that they had to cut through twice.

Does seem far-fetched for them to be still traveling together and in daylight. Whenever we have the Sheriffs helicopter overhead in the area, wherever the neighborhood dogs are barking, that is your best bet on where to find them.

And now all the other inmates have a good idea on how to do the same thing, what is to prevent them from doing the same?
