DNA Solves

I have read that according to phone pings he spent two hours at the spot of the abduction. I don't know how phone pings work. Does it ping a certain intervals of time or only when the phone is in use or is it constantly pinging the phones location? This article though was referencing digging a deep hole and doing "all the things" in three hours.

""What I'm saying is what haunts me is I think that maybe there was an accomplice. I really do. You can not dig a hole that deep through clay in a three hour period and do all the things that were done," said Berling."

well, I think I could dig a decent hole in three hours if I make my mind up to it, and the ground isn’t too hard or rocky. me and my trusty shovel do a lot of amazing things for our property. He looks strong enough to manage. JMO, of course,

And if your filled with adrenaline for one of two reasons: Either you think you're going to get away with something or you know they're already looking for you and you have to cover your tracks FAST.

I could see it either being pre-dug or dug with adrenaline... or his brother helping. They messed up his DNA testing so how can they rule out his being what was under her nails?

I do wonder if he got spooked when the woman drove by and saw him crouching in the corn field. Whatever his plan with poor Sierah ended sooner rather than later. So many things we will never know.

The DNA is a mystery. Some things will never be known. I think he dug the hole in advance. Even If there was another perpetrator in addition to JW we know by a huge amount of evidence that JW did this. At least he will never hurt anyone else.

Sweet! Bravo and I are keeping tabs on anyone interested when we can arrange a time and place. This will be a good time, for sure. If anyone else would like to try to meet up with us give a heads up. When the weather is nice!

IN!!!

I have a feeling the reason he got caught with SJ is because he got lazy and sloppy and figured he hadn't been caught in a long time. That's what I just keep thinking.

I think his capture was due to the immediate response of the family, LE, and community. People were looking well before he was able to follow through with what I believe was his normal M.O. Though, I do agree that he was over confident in his sick abilities.
Justice for Sierah!!

Wish I could join you all. I grew up in Maumee and Perrysburg but I rarely make it back there.

I think he had the hole dug in advance. He was going to find a victim. On that day or the next or the next.......
While sitting in the courtroom I swear I herd them say that there was also blood on the side of the cornfield where there were dig marks but the clay got to hard. That makes me think he had the body with him. And did it late at night. I could be completely wrong.

It's somewhat of a comfort to know that he barely had her with him. It wasn't even a day.

It honestly just blows my mind that he somehow knew when to get rid of her. Maybe he has police scanners?

IIRC the DNA under her nails was degraded by dirt? We are coming up on the 3 hr. mark.

I don’t understand that. They have tested DNA under nails from people buried for years. Also they never stated that to my knowledge they stated UNKNOWN MALE
Bothers me because even though I know JW is guilty, there could be his accomplice still in my community.

Even if (big if in my mind) Worley had an accomplice, he is still guilty of kidnapping, torturing, and murdering beautiful, potential-filled, beloved Sierah. As for mitigation and the suggestion of incest -- the defense is grasping and have evidence of absolutely nothing substantial. In the pictures accompanying the most recent stories and tweets, I see a distinct change in JW's face, a darkening. He is losing his impassive countenance. This is the murderer revealing himself.

This case is tough for me and has challenged my personal longstanding position on the death penalty. The murder was heinous and Sierah reminds me of my own daughter. If I was on this jury i would have no choice under Ohio law but to sentence James Worley to death for the murder of Sierah Joughin.

I am surprised it is taking so long.

Well he left a lot of his items around. A plastic glove, sunglasses. Both with his DNA. And then other items without his DNA (since he was gloved) and of coarse the helmet. That's pretty sloppy.

IIRC they were able to extract enough DNA from her fingernails to determine it was from a male. Yet degraded enough that they could not get a true profile.

A couple things that bug me..

I wish the prosecution wouldn't have used the narrative that he "had" to kill. It implies (at least to me) that he didn't MEAN to kill her, he didn't WANT to kill her, he had to. I don't know what the purpose of that line of thinking was.
IMO, there was no alternative. That's why he took her. To keep her until he was done with his sick, twisted crap and then to kill and bury her. To go on like nothing happened, never being caught, until he could find another victim.

He's a sexual sadist murderer and he does what sexual sadistic murderers do...he murders. Jurors understand "evil". They don't need to have a reason for why he killed her. Being evil is enough. They get it. He did NOT MEAN FOR HER TO DIE BECAUSE OF THE GAG. He had plans. Plans that were not carried out because the Good Lord lifted her up out of there.

Idk what that 3 hour time period the defense was talking about either, and I would like to know. When this first happened..Sierah's phone was pinging around the place she was kidnapped. But how it was explained to us was, there are 3 towers in that area. A triangle if you will. The phone ping would ping off one of the towers, but it that tower was "full" it would ping off the other tower. This triangle consisted of something like 5 or 10 square miles. In the beginning, they were thinking she was taken across the line into michigan because of the pinging. What i'm trying to say is...the pinging did not help one iota in finding her. It was to wide an area.

His "wounds" were so minor that I think those were caused by the corn, the digging and just the machinations that went into the crime. There was no evidence he washed her...there was DNA under her nails after all. I think he did what he did to Robin, he clocked her, not once but twice (2 head wounds) and then transported her. I think she was in and out of consciousness because of the head injury and that it contributed to her smothering with the gag. If she was unconscious when he shoved it in there, she couldn't fight against it per se. All muscles would be in a relaxed state and it would have been much easier for it to slip down far enough to block her trachea. I think that's why her tooth was chipped...he put it in when she was unconscious.

It bothers me greatly that he most likely has killed before and there was enough evidence presented, at least to me, that strongly suggests that someone else was there. Let's not forget his penis swab that had DNA that was NOT hers present. Whose that person? Where is that person? They haven't come forward? Where are they?
The DNA under her nails was ruled out as his brothers because as brothers, they share the identical Y (RS?) DNA. It is a dna profile that brothers have...so if his didn't match, his brothers would not either. Who is that person? And why was his DNA under her nails? Everyone that she saw that day...their DNA was tested..no match.

I know that I will be happy with life w no parole. He gets to many "perks" being on Ohio's Death Row. He NEEDS to be in general population and after serving almost 2 years in the county jail...he needs to be in big boy jail. Where the big boys can take care of him.

He was sloppy. Just some ponderings but it appears he fantasized, planned etc. Things did not go according to his plan. He becomes enraged and panicked.

I hear you jashrema. That statement never made sense. Of course in the end Sierah was not going to survive. Like he was going to let her go and ask her not to tell. It's not a reach for Jurors to put together no victim of his would walk away.

Wondering if there are some holdouts?
