Call me a Conspiracy theorist if you wish... but I am always skeptical when reporters/whistleblowers/etc. just happen to die of "one-car wrecks", mysterious, unsolved gunshot wounds, etc. after alerting the public of information that can be "inconvenient" to government officials...

Note: Michael Hastings, a reporter, died Tuesday in what appears to be a one-man car crash...

And, incidentally, had just released an article, June 7th, which may have "irritated" our present government administration...

I am posting it here because it refers to Anonymous, and thought some of you may be interested in reading it...

Award-Winning Journalist Michael hasting Dies

"LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Michael Hastings, the war correspondent whose unflinching reporting from Afghanistan led to the resignation of a top U.S. army general, has died in a car accident in Los Angeles, according to his employer and family."

Why Democrats Love To Spy On Americans

Besides Senators Ron Wyden and Mark Udall, most Democrats abandoned their civil liberty positions during the age of Obama. With a new leak investigation looming, the Democrat leadership are now being forced to confront all the secrets they’ve tried to hide.

<snip>

"The very topic of Democratic two-facedness on civil liberties is one of the most important issues that Greenwald has covered. Many of those Dems — including the sitting President Barack Obama, Senator Carl Levin, and Sec. State John Kerry — have now become the stewards and enhancers of programs that appear to dwarf any of the spying scandals that broke during the Bush years, the very same scandals they used as wedge issues to win elections in the Congressional elections 2006 and the presidential primary of 2007-2008."

<snip>

"Jacob Appplebaum, a transparency activist and computer savant, has been repeatedly harassed at American borders, having his laptop seized. Barrett Brown, another investigative journalist who has written for Vanity Fair, among others publications, exposed the connections between the private contracting firm HB Gary (a government contracting firm that, incidentally, proposed a plan to spy on and ruin the reputation of the Guardian’s Greenwald) and who is currently sitting in a Texas prison on trumped up FBI charges regarding his legitimate reportorial inquiry into the political collective known sometimes as Anonymous.

Much, much more at link above....

What does this have to do with Steubenville?

What does this have to do with Steubenville?

I assumed the political collective Anonymous referred to in the above article was related to Anonymous who revealed much of the Steubenville illegal activities...

and whose leader is now in jail from his part in the revelations/hacking...

Soooo.... In the immortal words of Roseanne Rosanna Danna....

Never Mind....

You guys have plenty of anti-government threads going, no need to hijack this one.

Anonymous has many different unrelated branches.

I'm also confused by the reference to them as a "political collective", a label I suspect they would laugh at. I doubt they'd take that kindly to being adopted as a mascot by either "side".

If my last post was unclear... I was apologizing for being incorrect if my assumption of the connection to Anonymous is wrong...

On another note... In my perception the revelations of this Anonymous in connection with the Steubenville activities was made the purpose to uncover the the cover-ups of the government of Steubenville... Albeit the local government.... Which, in some instances stretched further above...

SOOO... Hijacking this thread was not my intention...

IIRC, Anonymous started out as a collection of A-holes who thought it was funny to go into forums and post the most angering thing for those forum members. Some broke into a seizure website and posted a video that causes seizures.

Those A-holes caused a split in the Anonymous members. Some realized they could use their skills for good, like Steubenville. Others are doing good things with other causes. A group of them are sticking pins, metaphorically, in scientology's :butthead:

So now there are several Anonymous factions. It seems the A-holes have been rooted out for the most part.

Thanks for the background of Anonymous...

Interesting!

And the Special Grand Jury will meet again on August 12, 2013 ... Less than a month away!

Tomorrow!

Sent from my Kindle Fire HD !

The second article also reports that the access of so much alcoholic beverages by underage people is being investigated, too....

I Agree that should be a part of the in depth investigation ...
