She has a brother at the school although I thought he was more than 1 year older, for some reason I was under the impression he is in 4th grade. But I am sure she has a brother at the school who also attends the after school program with her.

Room 106 is a first grade classroom according to the school site. The fb photo shows SR in room 106 in 2011-2012 school year. Wonder if the last name is just a coincidence. So this child would be in 2nd grade now.

The map in my siggy is up to date (link) ...but I don't have a line drawn on it from the last known sighting (62nd and Larchwood) to the possible home on Walton.

But looking at the map there are essentially only 2 possible routes that they could have taken:
1. Turn South on 62nd at Larchwood, turn West on Cedar, then South on Felton, and finally West on Walton.
2. Continue West on Larchwood, turn South on Cobbs Creek Prkwy, turn East on Walton.

I think number 2 makes more sense....

ETA: Where did you read about her grandmother's home?? Would love to add that to the map if we had a street or block listed on MSM.

I can't seem to find the article now, but it said that where she was last seen on Larchwood is just a block away from her grandmothers house.

He could be a 2nd grader this year, I am not sure, I may have blended the story of her brother attending Bryant school with the story of the 4th graders assault on another 4th grader and come up to thinking he was older. sorry. I do remember a foxnews reporter stating that someone from the after school program went to the school to pick the child and her brother up and notified the mother the girl was not there. So the brother was there and she was not, at the time I thought her brother had told the after school worker that his sister was in school that day prompting the phone call to mom.

This crime was well planned, risky and brazen. It appears to have involved 2 or more perps. Are these sophisticated intelligent criminals or thugs who have just gotten lucky so far?

You would think that the criminals would have some sort of big pay off to take such a risk. What was the payoff they were looking for? Revenge? $$? Sexual?

These questions keep running around in my mind.
I wonder if money was the motivation for the female abductor from the alleged male perp. Maybe something prevented him from bringing his plan to full fruition which is what makes this crime seem so bizarre. Maybe he needed more time to execute his plan of ransom or extortion and in the meantime the 2nd female involved found out the child was in the house and quick got her out of there and dumped her in the park.

So a woman kidnapped her and they were joined by another woman (who resembles a man) white/light skin, 30's, wearing sweats? Possible.

Put that way it sounds absolutely crazy, but at this point who knows? Anything is possible here.

O/T, but in the bizarreness of it all. We had a black man in a KKK outfit traipsing around to bring awareness of black on black crime. Got my attention.

About the school and the family's move: I can't find any articles saying that the family recently moved TO West Philly from South Philly, or that they recently moved FROM West to South.

I know I've been harping on this since the first thread...
It's just that, uhh, that school is kind of really-not-great.
So if the family recently moved TO South Phila, it struck me as odd that the kid would *travel* to a really-not-great school.
(In '11-'12 schoolyear: 98 suspensions. 21 reported assaults)

It's disheartening to read that back in 2011 at a meeting between parents and school officials in Bryant (regarding three 4th graders sexually assaulting another 4th grader in a bathroom) a father stated how disappointed he was that he could walk so freely into the school without being asked for any id.

I remember that case. I didn't realize it was the same school :what:

(before you think I'm crazy hear me out)
This all makes me really suspicious of the activity in this area. I know that kids are hyper-sexualized these days but......almost all of the juvenile sex offenders (especially this young) have sexual trauma histories. I am not positive of the stat but I will try and find out later in the week when I talk with a specialist. I am really concerned about a "ring" going on. Some of the things I see are just indicative of exploitation, I know I said it before but please read the Human Trafficking thread. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91597&highlight=human+trafficking

****Trauma Trigger Warning---may be disturbing ----Skip if Triggering***
The youngest victim of trafficking I personally know of was 2yrs old. (this was 10 yrs ago) The FBI told me then, that we were going to start seeing more and more woman perps. Let me also make it clear that some of these preschool kids being trafficked are experiencing unthinkable, unimaginable trauma. Some perps pick them because they won't be good witnesses. It sickens me to think that our laws have not caught up with technology. Perps can now rape babies and never get convicted because the victim cant testify. :banghead: The 2yr old I know has never gotten justice for her rape. The perp got 23yrs federal time for the pics but NOTHING for the assault on her. (she will only be 25 when he gets out)

Mods please snip if this is too much of a rant and/or inappropriate but I am just tired of this happening to our PRECIOUS BABIES.

I have not been able to move past why the child attended this school either O'really! The news reports I heard on the second day, the day she was found then released from hospital and CA interviews to return home had me wondering why she was taken to South Philly because at the time the reporters were saying the family had recently moved but they made it sound as if she was being taken back to her old neighborhood or even to a relatives house. I searched all over at the time but never found anything in print and never found anything since then to clarify where they lived at the time of this crime, where they lived prior to their recent move or where they live today.
The fact this child attended Bryant Elementary while living in a different part of the city is what has always made me feel the after school program was a huge factor. In my mind it makes no sense for her to attend that school if she lived in South Philadelphia, aside from the distance, West Philadelphia schools make fairly regular appearances on our nightly news broadcasts, not so much the schools in South Philly. And I also think, moo, that if the family recently moved to South Philadelphia the children would have started in a new school in the neighborhood the same week as the move, again because of the morning commute to the West Philadelphia school and because the new school would be more desirable in my opinion.

Do we know what area mom works in? It's possible she works near Bryant in West Phil and logistically makes it easier for mom with school pick up and drop off.

Has there been any mention of mom and kids mode of travel to west philadelphia each day? I wonder if public transportation might be a place where N came to perps attention and then targeted.

There is a thread on the 4th grader at the school

Three boys (ages 10 years old through 11years old) from William C Bryant Elementary are charge as juveniles with numerous counts from attempted rape to unlawful restraint.

Belleyes-This is not as crazy as it sounds and a colleague and I have been discussing the same thing. What I cannot figure out and what makes me think the whole thing is a set up is the way it went down. Why risk walking right into a school and taking a child that way? It puts the whole event on video and with lots of witnesses. It is perhaps the HARDEST way to steal a kid but they chose that path. WHY???

:what:

My child that age still watches cartoons and climbs trees, and climbs on my lap for a hug. That is beyond horrifying and sad. :(

I do not know where mom's works however I have gone over several scenarios and can not think of any that would be make this school convenient to attend from South Philly. From 4th street in SP to Bryant School in WP is a good 20 minute commute in the morning on a good day with a car, if there's an accident or construction it'd be much longer, not to mention if they used public transportation. I agree it could be more convenient in the afternoon especially with the after school program, then I'm back to the after school program. I can't help feeling there is a connection there. Again in my opinion a South Philadelphia school would be a better choice for ANY student to attend and this child seems to come from a family who know the value of education. It very well could be that the family move was too recent that the children were not enrolled just yet if indeed the family did just move to South Philly, as far as I know that has not been clarified or verified anywhere.

Maybe the family did not have the personal resources such as family, friends, daycare etc. and whatever other support systems that may have helped facilitate their daily routine, in place yet and simply continued the previous arrangements during the interim.

Re motive... Since this is such a strange crime, I
thought I would not try to think of the "whys" in a
rational way. What if this child was taken for ransom? Did the
perps need quick cash? (one example- looking online I do see a possible
relative that needed money raised to fight a murder
conviction). Realizing they bit off more than they could
chew- harmed the child to make it appear that a man was
involved. Not to be insulting- but I'm sure we've all seen
women who look like a man... could N be confused on the
gender of the perp?

This is my thought exactly! Looking through FB pics of the family and extended family of the house that was searched and people in the house questioned, there are female relatives that indeed look male (IMO purposely). In fact last night I was going through many FB connected to this family and found some interesting connections and even a video of family that had what appear to be nicknames for family members. The video is for a graduation and has printed subtitles to go along with some of the pictures, in one the name "China" is on the screen but I couldn't tell who she is exactly, but was definitely with one of the extended family members of that house.
I took screen shots and have sent the tip in.

I don't recall exactly where I read it, but remember seeing they had recently moved and wondering if it was because they sensed some sort of threat in the community.

definitely a strange lookin' crew...LOL:rocker:

I know there are links to surveillance video clips put out by the media. But this is the Philly police department's release of surveillance, and one thing I had not seen before was the perp walking with NR across and down the street. I've seen the video of the perp walking to the school but not the opposite.

I was curious about this also. I initially presumed mother had walked the child to school that morning but when I saw them returning to home in S. Phila...I knew that couldn't be possible, unless they came from somewhere else, like Gma's house.
