In the first group of scenarios, the Mystery Woman either did not exist or was not related to RFG's disappearance. In the second group of scenarios, the prime reason for RFG to go to Lewisburg is to meet the Mystery Woman.

In this group of scenarios, the Mystery Woman (MW) is involved in the disappearance, perhaps unwittingly, but her appearance is not random. She is not, however, the purpose of RFG's trip to Lewisburg.

1. The MW is the Helper, possibly wearing a wig. She brought a second vehicle to Lewisburg. RFG wanted to make sure that he would be seen in Lewisburg in the early evening so they spent a few minutes in SoS. Pro: He wanted people to think he was in Lewisburg with a woman and spent the night there possibly with some unknown woman; the police did assume, initially, that he was there for "a wild weekend." They will be looking in the Lewisburg area for him, and looking for the woman. It explains the phone being off, because RFG wanted time to elapse between him reported being missing and anything linking him to Lewisburg. It also explains the map, if he were checking the time it would take Helper to drive to Lewisburg. Anti: Even with a disguise, someone could recognize Helper.

2. RFG wants to establish that he was in Lewisburg on the evening 4/15/05. We browses through the SoS, possibly speaking to several women, just making small talk or asking directions. (There is a helper out there, but he/she isn't the MW.) Pro: LE would be looking for him in Lewisburg with a woman, as above. The phone is off for the same reason as above. Because the MW doesn't know that she is the Mystery Woman, she doesn't say anything; she may not remember the man making small talk. Anti: It would be possible that MW could remember the brief conversation and contact police. This becomes less likely because the police wait for more than a year to really publicize that they are looking for her. (RFG had no way of knowing that.)

That is how I would see the Mystery Woman being involved,or not involved.

The only other theory I had in this case, was Sandusky. I feel he was the type of criminal who would have committed murder, to hide his years of abuse grooming and pedophilia. He ran in that circle, he could have known; and or been involved. Whatever he had on his PC, it was bad enough to want to wipe. Wasn't Sandusky free when he went missing? Not victim blaming, this is a theory that I feel should have been deeply investigated. xo

Hi, Cherry, and thanks for joining in. :)

While none of us are perfect, they say that past behavior is a very good predictor of future behavior. While we don't know what Mr. Gricar's laptop hard drive contained, there's no reason to think it was illegal images.
There's no hint of him ever covering for Sandusky, or colluding with Sandusky that's ever come to light. I think if it had happened, Sandusky would have talked, or someone close to him like one of the coaches would have.

As far as murdering Mr. Gricar, it is said by many people that Sandusky's pedophilia at The Second Mile in the last few years before he was arrested was not a well- kept secret. The issue was getting the proof needed to charge, indict, and prosecute him successfully and this required competent testimony from victims, as we know.

In all the time Sandusky was being investigated, no one was murdered. Not while the long sting investigation was going on, not when there were undercover officers and also an area DA with a child who had been around Sandusky, shall we say. ( I do not know the outcome of that specific boy's case so I am being non-specific as I can be).

If Ray Gricar was murdered because of Sandusky's actions, he'd have been the only one. And since Mr. Gricar was the one who investigated an early allegation and chose not to pursue based on what he believed to be lack of sufficient evidence and the boy being a very poor witness, I'd think he'd be the least worried DA in PA. I could be wrong, but IMO, Mr. Gricar had no reason to be concerned about any grudge from Sandusky due to the lack of any charges from Centre Co.

Sandusky was not even under investigation in 2005, so he was free. RFG didn't even have a file on Sandusky dating from the 1998 incident and there was nothing found that even indicated he was looking at Sandusky. Why would Sandusky kill the guy who did not prosecute him in 1998, had not been investigating him since them, and was was not going to be a prosecutor in 81/2 months?

I am playing Devil's Advocate. That said, there have been similar incidents with other DA's in Pennsylvania. We also had the "Sexting Scandal" in 2008 with an ADA in Centre County that RFG actually hired. The ADA promised to easy on the woman's boyfriend, who the ADA was prosecuting.

It is one of those things that we have to keep open. It does answer the "Why would RFG go to Lewisburg, and, clandestinely, meet with the Mystery Woman." We don't know if RFG did go to Lewisburg primarily to meet the MW, but it is possible.

Now, keep in mind that none of those things explain the money situation.

LOL, you certainly do have a vivid imagination when you play Devil's Advocate, ;).

Your latest scenarios just posted are extremely sensible and one of them is likely what happened. You've redeemed yourself. LOLOL. ( What happened to our devil and angel emoticons? Perfect time to use them and I have a little string of 6 pastel emoticons now). Ha.

Yes. His whole name is Ray Frank Gricar.
Oops. Sorry, J.J. We posted at the same time. :)

No problem. I'm not sure if his first name is legally "Raymond" or "Ray." Every document I've seen has said "Ray." Divorce papers, FBI Background Check, Statements of Financial Interest, PA Law License, all say "Ray."

I looked into the Ray vs. Raymond because ONE missing persons' site had his name as Raymond at one time.

However, it's my belief that a D.A., like an old friend of mine who's a criminal defense attorney and has been called " Billy" all his life, but is legally named " William", has to use his or her full legal name in court, on all legal documents, and in press conferences, etc. Thus, I tend to believe his name is " Ray Frank Gricar", not " Raymond'.

These are three weakest, IMO:

"The MW was a witness/informant in a case."

"RFG is doing something nefarious, getting paid off or selling some information to the MW."

"RFG picked up the MW. It wasn't planned, just a random encounter. What ever happened to him happened after this encounter."

Ty! Time to look for Frank.

I suggested looking for automobile registrations in the name of "R. Frank Gricar." :) I've considered anagrams, e. g. like "Garric," "Carrig," Hill (a rough translation of of Gricar in English), I will add two names to the list: "Max Caine (or "Kane")" "Charlie Croker."

Regarding the middle name of " Frank", it's possible that he could have changed it to a more Euro- styled version if he either changed his last name or left the US.. Likely versions in other languages are Franco or Francis.

I'm at Homicide 10%, Suicide 10% and Walkaway at 80%. No evidence or hint of anything that would rise to the level of having RFG knocked off. Nothing in his life points to depression deep enough to commit suicide, as I think PF, friends and coworkers would have noticed it. I don't think the information on the laptop was criminal or sex/money to look the other way. I think it contained communications between RFG and a lover, pictures (possibly explicit) of the lover or both of them together and exit plans. There is a very minor "husband found out RFG was messing with his wife and took him out, but it's very low since if the wife fell out with her husband, she would rat him out.
