If I was forced to share very close quarters with a well known hit man that is not likely to ever see the outside of the prison walls again, I just don't know that I would be making public statements about not enjoying his company.

Of course I have never thought Joran was the mastermind that many people seem to give him credit for being.
Good afternoon!! This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've read lately and at the same time I haven't been able to stop laughing! :D He definitely doesn't realize how good he does have it in that prison compared with general population or where he could be transferred to at Lurigancho. Of course keeping his mouth shut never has been one of his better qualities. MOO

He has better qualities? :waitasec:

LOL!

Thank you. I translated the advertisement and it reads: "thousands of dollars weekly to Savannah moons"

Still looking for it to read American dollars.

The translation I get is "thousands of dollars a week from Monday to Saturday". It's the kind of claptrap put out by casinos to make people think they can win big. http://translate.google.com/?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hl=en&tab=wT#es|en|miles%20dolares%20semanales%20de%20lunes%20a%20sabado

It is true, many countries use dollars, not just the U.S., so it could be Australian dollars, Belize dollars, Hong Kong Dollars, New Zealand dollars...etc.etc.

I personally hope he complains all day long....loud and clear and makes a nuisance of himself.

I'm wondering why he hasn't had his BF Clown test his food before eating it.

That is so true--she must not have been planning on staying for very long!

Here's a sad "what if" --what if the desk clerk had gone to the room after the loading zone time had expired (assuming it was a loading zone) to request they move the car --he or she might have stopped the murder from happening.

Or, became another victim.
IMO

I'm also wondering how the hearing went this morning.
JC stated that we may not find out today.....

He threw a homeless man off a bridge, he probably killed Natalie H. and now he has killed Stephany. What Anita Van der Sloot said was from the first interview she gave to a Dutch paper. She said he had left Holland so as not to be confined in a mental ward there. She had tried to get him mental help and he refused.

This is the first I heard about "throwing a homeless man off a bridge"....where did this story come from?????????

Today's court proceedings:

"...the judge stayed for nearly an hour inside the prison, and finally had to put on record the refusal of the Netherlands in a joint report with the prosecutor. "

"In the frustrated also took care of the Dutchman 's lawyer , Max [Aletz] , who retired without giving statements to the press." - very poor Google translation....I think this is trying to say that his lawyer also left in frustration.

"...just before the arrival of the judge, Van der Sloot watched the game Switzerland -Chile accompanied by the hit man Ospina Colombian Alejandro Trujillo."

Well, at least we know as of earlier today, Ospina hadn't gotten wind of Joran's displeasure.....:D

:twocents::twocents:Sorry to bring it from another "closed" thread -- but I stand by the Peruvian charges --

1.) It was a rage killing; problably triggered by sexual rejection, her lesbianism, and her period. (He took off her pants and discovered the sanitary napkin.)2.) The rage was not 100% aimed at Stephany, but a release of boundless suppressed rage, at his situation, life, women in general.
3.) It was a blitz attack - over in minutes - given the differences in size between the killer and the victim.
4.) The killing occurred early in their stay together. He spent time w/the corpse trying to figure out what to do.
5.) The coffee runs were attempts at staging and establishing an alibi.
6.) The robbery was incidental - she didn't have that much money with her - first accounts said 5000 soles - or about $1755. He paid as much to the taxi drivers, even gave them goods in kind. More $$ and he could have chartered a small plane and gone to Aruba. He was IMing money for a plane ticket.
7) Anita is probably key - she hasn't gone there AFAIK - she seems distant and uncaring. JVDS was probably closer to his dad.
8) I agree with Peruvian police - aggravated murder with simple robbery.

<I know all of us - even the poor Flores family (who are now claiming she had $10K) want LWOP - and he could get it in a jury trial - but in a judge panel as exist in most countries - they will go where the evidence takes them without a lot of emotion clouding this issue - at least in theory.>

There are two big mysteries now -- what happened to Natalee - the Stephany case is open and shut; and what was going on in the VDS household.

Good post - thanks. My only question how do we know she was wearing a pad? Younger women tend not to do that (soooooo old school) ;)

We can now ASSUME that Joran was sick in the head, by his mum's statement:

His mother Anita told De Telegraaf on Sunday that her son "lied so much, that we became desperate... He said to me too, 'Mom, I sometimes don't know any more if something is a lie or the truth.' Joran is sick in his head, but he didn't want any help."

There are also report that JVS was supposed to check into psychriatric hospital 2 days prior to leaving for Peru. Does anyone know if this is true (or yet another lie).

All the best,

Mel

No ~ I was just trying to type something that didn't convey what I really think about him. ;)

You are such a nice person and a good diplomat! :)

I almost dared you to name one good Joran quality. LOL!

I haven't seen or heard anything about the laptop. Weren't they supposed to open it today? tia

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I am so glad that was a happy story. Bless you and your children. I snagged your post to bring up my own confusion regarding the idea of: denial.

I did want to say that your experience of denial is not what I think of as denial. Had you, after the children were born(prematurely)still insisted that you had carried the babies to term, I would call that denial. To me, denial is when a person is/or seems completely oblivious to a "true reality" that has actually occurred. As in a person has someone who is very close to them pass away, everyone else knows the person has passed but the loved one insists the person is alive: that to me, is denial.

I do not believe a person like JVS got to where he is at in life without some serious enabling. And, that kind of enabling might be denial...but as I said I am confused regarding what is considered denial. I usually consider people/parents that allow their children to do horrible things and then defend them despite the evidence showing they are guilty, to be the source of the bad behavior and "denial" is just the word put on their dysfunctional narcissistic parenting.

:twocents:

Hope this helps a little with the discussion of degrees/varieties of denial: Defense Mechanisms

Peruvian lawyer explaining that JVS could be charged with obstruction for not cooperating. She also says that the Judges that decide the case is not the same Judge that investigates the case.

Earlier today while Jean was reporting for IS, she said the computer would be opened in the courtroom. I haven't heard anything since then though. MOO

Seems to be adjusting nicely like the PPath he is. So, I suppose he and The Clown sit together to view. (Probably, no popcorn.) I'd hate to say adios to this place, if I were him.

Written by Jean and another reporter:
There was no television; he goes to a larger room to watch TV. The floor of the cell appeared to be a nice, synthetic, shiny wood floor.

Thank you for the compliment but I do enjoy being here at WS and don't want to leave......:)

To bring you up to speed: Nothing happened in court today because Joran refused to talk until his writ of Habeus Corpus is decided on. This may occur on Wed.

Right, it's called pathological liar -

Identifying a Pathological Liar

Pathological liars, or "mythomaniacs," may be suffering from histrionic personality disorder or narcissistic personality disorder. The following comments basically reflect a pathological liar who has the characteristics of histrionic personality disorder.
Some characteristics
1. Exaggerates things that are ridiculous.
2. One-upping. Whatever you do, this person can do it better. You will never top them in their own mind, because they have a concerted need to be better than everyone else. This also applies to being right. If you try to confront an individual like this, no matter how lovingly and well-intentioned you might be - this will probably not be effective. It's threatening their fantasy of themselves, so they would rather argue with you and bring out the sharp knives than admit that there's anything wrong with them.
3. They "construct" a reality around themselves. They don't value the truth, especially if they don't see it as hurting anyone. If you call them on a lie and they are backed into a corner, they will act very defensively and say ugly things (most likely but depends on personality), but they may eventually start to act like, "Well, what's the difference? You're making a big deal out of nothing!" (again, to refocus the conversation to your wrongdoing instead of theirs).
4. Because these people don't value honesty, a lot of times they will not value loyalty. So watch what you tell them. They will not only tell others, but they will embellish to make you look worse. Their loyalty is fleeting, and because they are insecure people, they will find solace in confiding to whomever is in their favor at the moment.
5. They may be somewhat of a hypochondriac. This can come in especially useful when caught in a lie, for example, they can claim that they have been sick, or that there's some mysteriously "illness" that has them all stressed out. It's another excuse tool for their behavior.
6. Obviously, they will contradict what they say. This will become very clear over time. They usually aren't smart enough to keep track of so many lies (who would be?).
