Hope this post is not against the TOS but I thought this info might be useful to some of the experienced sleuthers here. Some of you really know how to dig up documented info.

On another site, there was a posting saying that there is a Dr. Hugen (supposedly Anita's maiden name) who operates a psychiatric clinic about 1/2 hours drive from Arnheim Netherlands & who is believed to be Anita's cousin. Speculation is that Joran's attorneys will eventually bring the doctor or some of his associates to support a claim of Joran's insanity.

Well there does appear to be someone in the mental health field with that last name who works for GGNet which appears to be a non profit mental health care organization in the Netherlands. He works in Nijmegan which is about 30 minutes outside of Arnhem.

I suppose if they are related, they may try to use him or one of his contacts in their defense, but I can't see how anyone in the mental health field in the Netherlands will be much of an expert on Joran since he hasn't spent much time there really and they wouldn't have any history on him.

I think the Peruvian judges would be more likely to take the reports of their own assessments of Joran into consideration than those of any psychiatrists brought in by the defense.

Thank you, faw720, for this tremendous find! Anita's works from 2005-2008 are very meaningful, centering on symbols of religion and motherhood. I believe these are directly reflective of what was happening in her life during that timeframe....she's turning to religion to find answers and questioning her own motherhood.

To me as an artist, one piece, a collage entitled Ignorance, is especially telling and tortured with religious icons of the Madonna, covered faces and voodoo-type images combined with the texts of 'Mother Love' and 'Nothing Sacred But the Truth'.

Very powerful stuff here!

Then in 2008 she turns to glass bead making, which she also describes as religious symbols, but they have a much more light-hearted tone....which probably reflects her sense of well-being that her life is becoming more settled.

Now after the death of her husband and Joran's arrest in Peru, it will be interesting to see her future artistic expressions.

it would be highly unethical for anyone related to joran (or an associate of theirs) to have any input on his mental status...but then again, nothing related to joran seems to have been done under moral/ethical guidelines in the past so who knows?

OK, at the 3:04 mark they mention that she cashed 676 soles (her night's winnings) and then we see her being paid in soles (first six 100s, then one 50, two 10s and coins). The text also mentions that she bought between 600 and 700 soles in chips that night and mentions that she won up to 28000 soles (thats more or less $10,000) on May 24th, but her friends say that "by the middle of the week she didn't have money to play".

Thanks so much for that translation danielabc. So it appears as though Stephany never had US dollars on her, she took her payouts in soles. And it's possible that she didn't have the $10,000 US or 28000 soles on May 30th either. It seems as though she may have been using the laptop money for betting that weekend. I wonder how much she won or lost on the Friday night, May 27th.

We might never know what happened to the bulk of her other winnings, perhaps she did have debts that needed to be paid or she did loan some out to "someone", but by the statement of her friends it's possible that Joran did not have access to it on May 30th.

Agree!!!!!!!! I wouldn't put anything past those trying to defend Joran with their "sick in the head" theory. I just think it's something interesting to watch for in the future.

Glad you find this interesting. I'm not really in to interpreting art but I do know, in some cases, that art is used as a method of psychological evaluation.

I completely agree, and I still don't think robbery was the motive or the reason he took her to his room despite all the speculation and PLE's claims. I am ready to change my opinion upon seeing evidence, but my gut instinct tells me that sex/date-rape on the anniversary is how it started out.

I'm not a psychologist, so of course I have no real meaningful input on her art, but I am an artist, and I too thought the works 2005-08 seem especially interesting.

The one of hte Madonna/Child with the words "Innocent" repeated over and over seem to me to be a mother literally crying out for her child and perhaps I wonder, trying to convince herself.
Some of her work seems to hold some especially sorrowful overtones. But that's just me as an artist --- I have no idea about art therapy or how to interpret it.

It's mostly a gut instinct, FLNY. I'll have to do some research to refresh my memory, but I think Paulus was seen in a video at the casino at the same time Natalee, her friends, (and Joran ?) were present. I'll look around to see what I can find on this. I don't believe that was a coincidence. I think he used his son as bait for young women (with or without JVS's knowledge, but probably with, IMO.)

IMO, there's usually some grains of truth in the lies. I think there were many grains of truth when Joran was trying to throw his father under the bus when he attempted to sell the audio tape of his father's involvement (along with other officials) in the sex trade business to Greta VanSustern.

It's my belief that PVDS's desperate attempts to cover for his son were just as much for his own benefit and protection as well as his son's (if not more so). I also think his involvement in the sex trade business was the reason he never received his judgeship appointment.

Furthermore, I believe that AVDS either knew about his involvement in the sex trade business or found out due to JVS's involvement in Natalee's 'disappearance' and was complicit in any and all subsequent cover up attempts in order to protect her husband, son, and her standing in the community. Not necessarily in that order.

All this is just MOO, of course.

Another contradiction ... involves van der Sloot's knowledge of Spanish. Romero said their conversation was in perfect Spanish.

She also questioned the truthfulness of van der Sloot. For instance, when he signed some documents after talking to his mother, Romero noticed that he signed very differently than what he signed on the police statement, she said.

"I told him, 'you signed differently' and he winked his eye and made a silence signal with his hands," Romero said.
