Oh, the old "*advertiser censored* can't be raped" argument. And the old "here's how rape victims should behave" argument.

Thanks for affirming why so many of Cosby's (and other predators') victims never bothered to report their assault to law enforcement.
Thank you. I had to keep my fingers far away from the keyboard on this one (and a couple others). SMH at such thoughtless, archaic and misogynistic remarks.

There's another book out about Cosby's legacy:

http://www.salon.com/2015/10/11/bill_cosby_is_on_the_phone_wake_up_man/
Excerpted from "Where Everybody Looks Like Me: At the Crossroads of America's Black Colleges and Culture". This Bill Cosby interview was conducted prior to the rape and sexual assault charges against him; the author does discuss the allegations. The book, however, is about America's historically black colleges, where Cosby had -- and still has -- a complicated and interesting legacy.

Well I guess it's more accurate to say there's a chapter about Cosby's legacy, mostly because he inserted himself in the book.

Nonetheless, my book, Where Everybody Looks Like Me, which was set to be published September 22, includes, along with chronicling the struggles of numerous HBCUs, an entire chapter on Bill Cosby and his contributions to America’s black colleges. It also fully addresses the rape and assault allegations. I struggled with the decision to include him, but came away believing that sanitizing, revising, or omitting history represents its own kind of transgression that might one day leave me regretful. I expect there will be backlash for giving voice to a man who was a monster to so many. Those critics will be right. And, regrettably, so will I.

I was discussing Bill Cosby with my neighbor who hasn't really been following the scandal (which was refreshing). He earnestly asked me, Did Cosby mentor any guys?

LOL.. I'd never considered that aspect. If BC did mentor males, the ratio was probably 100 gals to 1 guy.

Lawyer: Cosby deposition lasted hours, 2nd to be sought

Associated Press 2:43 p.m. EDT October 10, 2015

Boston — The lawyer for a woman who’s accused Bill Cosby of sexually abusing her at the Playboy Mansion when she was 15 says she’ll seek a second deposition of the comedian.

Lawyer Gloria Allred said Saturday that Cosby appeared for a deposition in Boston on Friday that lasted several hours. Allred represents Judy Huth, who claims Cosby forced her to perform a sex act on him in the 1970s...

Ohhh... To be a fly on the wall at THAT hearing yesterday...

I would like to think Cosby was squirming in his seat...

but... He was probably being his ole defensive, smug self...:sigh:

From the article I posted above this morning: (Allred) says a California judge will decide in December if the testimony will be made public.

We might get to read the deposition but will have to leave the squirming to our imaginations ;)

What a great question! So far I haven't heard of any. You would think if he did, one of them would have said something by now. Maybe? Maybe not?

On October 8, Baylor rescinded the honorary degree granted him in 2003.
On October 2, Wilkes rescinded the honorary degree granted in 2003.
In late September, the University of San Francisco rescinded the honorary degree granted in 2012.
Also, in late September,Brown University rescinded the honorary degree awarded in 1985.

Fordham University and Marquette University rescinded Cosby’s honorary degrees slightly earlier in the month, which he received in 2001 and 2013, respectively.

Why is that cover controversial? I don't get it. Whatever you think of the accusations by now it's clear to everyone that the Cosby show wholesome image took a great hit with the fall of its biggest star.

Anyway, even if it shaped your identity back in the eighties, now it's 2015 and you've evolved as a person, time to get over the Cosby show already.

^^I agree. I saw it and thought, hmmm interesting effect. And that was it. But then, the acclaimed New York Magazine cover had a similar effect on me.. lol.

Hey, it would have really been a blast if Ebony put the cartoon that wendiesan posted on their cover!

I think it's powerful and interesting, but I can understand how it might bother people or make them uncomfortable. The Huxtables were a beloved TV family like the Waltons, Bunkers, etc., and seeing their picture shattered feels harsh and sad. To those people I say "Get over it."

Bill Cosby faces new defamation lawsuit over sexual abuse denial

October 16, 2015 11:23 AM

A Pennsylvania woman, who as a teen appeared on a children’s TV show with Bill Cosby in the 1980s, is suing him for defamation, citing denials by his attorney and wife of allegations the comedian repeatedly sexually abused her.

Renita Hill’s lawsuit, filed Wednesday, marks the third time in recent months that Cosby has been sued for defamation over his camp’s repeated denials of alleged victims' accusations.

Goucher revokes honorary degree awarded to Bill Cosby

By Nick Anderson October 16

Goucher College has revoked an honorary degree it awarded to Bill Cosby in 2001, becoming the latest higher education institution to distance itself from an entertainer who faces accusations from numerous women of sexual assault.

Did they give him back all his donation money as well? Now I understand why they are furious. But don't take back the honory but not give back all the money which he donated through out the years.

You can't disassociate your school from him without saying that we will return all money which was donated by the rapist. Jmo
