I did not sleep well last night as I was pretty upset/angry that anyone would view the SB as anything other than an open forum for posters to come and share anything they want to share. The Sidebar was started for exactly that reason almost 3 years ago. Whether other members wish to post or avail themselves of the information, stories, news, music videos, thoughts is up to them.

The kindness, love, friendship, support and caring is the predominant theme on this thread. IMO, there is no other thread like it on WS and it has been a place where anyone could stop in and feel better, share or simply read. I have read posts/messages here where people read here every morning just to start their day off right. The SB has touched a lot of folks, which is why it still exists. IMOO

:therethere:

It's OK my dear- don't fret about it anymore- please. Try to get some rest. :blowkiss:

Don't you just love Maira Kalman's illustrations? She's a very interesting person, too. Here she is speaking at TED Talks:
https://www.ted.com/talks/maira_kalman_the_illustrated_woman?language=en

Love her illustrations- simple, unsophisticated, and childlike- sort of like Grandma Moses folk art paintings.

ETA: I watched about 10 min of the video ('cause of my BW :( )

Bookmarked it- I'll finish it tomorrow.

She's very funny. :) Thanks for posting the link.

Niner We would shop on Black Friday starting at around 10:30 and were not part of the crazy people rushing/trampling trying to get the deals. We still got good prices.

We mainly just shopped that day for the good company of friends and it was fun after cooking all day for Thanksgiving. Just a tradition to start the Christmas craziness.

We would also shop the day after Christmas for the sales (and lunch)

Morning!

And please don't think you are "intruding on a private party here". (There's nothing private here) I'm sorry you feel this way (I hope that no one, including me, has led you to believe that you are not welcomed here). The Sidebar is for anyone on WS to read, post, and enjoy. We're a very friendly bunch and it would nice for more WSers to come and post here. This thread is sort of a "anything- goes" one and is quite refreshing, IMO, and for all/anyone to join in with us and post whatever.

Yes, we are a friendly bunch and no one is excluded here from posting "anything-goes" !! :D

BBM. That's for me, too. Sorry, SB folks, if I'm offending you, but I'm speaking my truth: I don't even like to visit the Sidebar because it's too exclusive. To me, it feels and acts like a clique. There are many inside jokes and ongoing histories that go way back. Many things that don't make sense to a visitor. It's not an inviting place to be.

Oh no! Please don't feel that way! Sometimes I get lost too with all the personal things happening to everyone! I love this thread, maybe it's cause I've been here longer with some of the regulars here - but PLEASE join in! :happydance:

I think that one of the great things about WS is that you can bounce around from thread to thread. Sometimes you find something that ignites further interest and you decide to stick around...

The recent case of the Florida doctor who was murdered (can't remember her name) was compelling to me, but there were sooo many threads I couldn't keep things straight, so I moved on. Likewise, the Savopoulos murders around here were intriguing to me, but the thread quickly degenerated into a cat fight between posters. Eh, whatever thread feels comfortable is where you should be reading and posting. JMO

re bold - that would be Siever? I tried following that one too in the beginning, but than as you said there were so many different threads, I got lost too...

You will never be intruding in here Hope4More, you joined this family when you told of your childhood, and how your mom had a paper route, and she took the 4 of you along in a car with windows that didn't roll up. You shared with us the no money for milk at lunch, and a single box of macaroni and cheese to share between the five of you. IIRC she worked hard and went to school also? You sharing, all of us sharing, is placed in my heart, and you're always in my prayers each day.

WOW! You have a good memory!! :blowkiss: Yes, I remember this!

I am so sorry you feel that way. Heck, I post everywhere, "invited" or not. I hope you will come over and read, even if you don't feel like posting. There is an abundance of kindness and caring, friendship and love and open to everyone. So consider yourself "invited", even though you don't need an invitation. The more the merrier!

:luv: this post! Yes, everyone is welcome to post here! :grouphug:

This was posted on the State vs JA page (FB). Travis' brother, Steven, is living with Tanisha now and is very ill. He has been to ER twice in the past few weeks, was admitted and given IV and tests. He is back home now, but needs our prayers. Tanisha is very scared. Steven will see a specialist now. :praying:

I wonder what is wrong and what kind of specilist he's going to see? But like I said before :praying: and JINGLES!! to Steven!!

I've never really liked shopping, so I would have to say I'm a stay at home person! You weren't one of those rushing into to the store and getting trampled, were you??!! :scared: that's just scary how people act!! Yikes! I've read that the day BEFORE Thanksgiving on Wednesday - there are sales - so I will go to Target that day and "see" what they got, and buy some Hanes underwear for the Huz, as he's lost a lot of weight from his Lasix pills! LOL!

and personally, I'm a cat-lover!

One more thing Niner

Here's A List Of All The Stores Target Is Closing
Prepare accordingly.

"Target announced Wednesday it will be closing 13 of its U.S. retail stores.
Don't panic yet: The stores will remain open through the holiday season. The company plans to close them on Jan. 30, 2016..."

I'm done posting, for now.

I was driving home when I heard about Barry Beach being freed and I had such an emotional reaction I almost had to pull over!

I've been following his story for ages. It was so heartbreaking when he was released for 18 months only to be returned to prison after the judge's ruling was overturned by the state SC. Can you imagine what it must have felt like to be free for 18 months only to have to go back? I don't know how he did it.

He seems like a truly nice guy and I am 100% certain of his innocence. I hope the future holds all good things for him.

and can you imagine ALL the changes there have been in the last 30 years he's been locked up!!??!! I wish him well!

Yes, there are a LOT of stores this year NOT opening on Thanksgiving, but I thought we were talking about the Friday after Thanksgiving... :waitasec: LOL! I'm going to Target on the day BEFORE Thanksgiving - they should be open than!

Okay - now I'm off to read the other thread; don't know about starting the thread about Nurmi's book!

You are right Niner, I just remembered my Mama had that record that she played ad nauseum... and all of us kids would laugh at the music, now it all makes sense to me. Thank you. What did Bobby Darin sing, I remember that name too.

I love it when other posters post here!

I am a former "Traditionalist" and loved shopping on Black Friday with my friends. It was a treat and a lot of fun. Then there was lunch afterward- loaded down with packages and trying to figure out where to put them as we ate in the restaurant.

And then leftovers from Thanksgiving when we arrived home. Great day, all-in-all, and I enjoyed the tradition back then and miss it when I think about it right now.

My daughter and I used to hit Toys R Us on Black Friday to shop for all the little nieces and nephews, but this year I won't be able to shop Black Friday at all, I'll be working it. I have to work midnight to 8a.m. on Thanksgiving, come home, sleep, and then go back to work 4:30-12:30 on Black Friday. Maybe it's a sign that Kohl's will be keeping me on??? They haven't done this to seasonal people before.

Zuri.....Sorry you are upset. FWIW, I think its the very fact that there ISN'T another WS thread like this one that makes it feel different- and maybe uncomfortable- for anyone who isn't a regular.

I think most WS long-timers get to "know" each other by being involved in the same trials/cases. I've noticed that when a long , involved trial/case is winding down a bunch of peeps post about what trial to follow next, in part because they want to keep part of their posting group intact. The trial/case ends and poof, the group disperses.

So, it is different to have a sidebar hangout place still open, months after the trial ended. I've never felt unwelcome here, but the few times I skimmed through the thread post-trial I saw mostly long running conversations between regular posters. Posting into that can feel kinda like walking up to a group of people you don't know very well but who are obviously well known to one another, and that you are interrupting their conversation.

I know nobody posting here is trying to be exclusive or whatever, and it's great that y'all still have a place to hang out together. What's the worry?

Thank you to Y/N for posting on the new trial books thread. :)
That relevant and good trial related info be shared where folks can find it was my only concern, and voila! Tis done.

Thanks, Hope. You touched on a few things that ring true for me, and I wanted to jump on that for a moment. But I ask if you want to throw pies at me, I prefer blackberry cobbler.

I've been here for more than 2 years and it's always been home to me ... but things have changed. Many long timers have left and I agree it's hard jumping in when others have known each other for a long time. Some of you are dear to me and loved by me. In some ways I've lost that loving feeling with some of you and have backed off from the SB. I hurt someone's feelings and ended a great friendship. And then someone hurt my feelings from something I said and she backed off, when what I said was meant to be funny. And now a third new friend has dissed me for whatever reasons. So all I really wanted to say was that yes, at times it feels cliquish here and while you all think it's about love and stuff, some walk in here not knowing what to feel or how to fit in. And so I have backed away because I lost my humor about a year ago and don't feel I belong. I will always lurk but won't post as much. In my defense, my life has been frustrating and full of turmoil lately, and in that state I am not myself, have terrible dreams and just keep to myself. Some things are looking better now. I don't intend to get too chummy anymore. I don't get along with people much anymore it seems.
