I have read the Schwartz Report (mentioned before) which is a "Long Island Nassau Suffolk County New York Political Forum regarding Police Issues." It seems to discuss inside issues in the police dept. written by disgruntled cops letting off steam, and wanna be cops. Hard to wade thru because of all the police jargon and the language used could not be repeated here. It discusses the protocol of dispatching calls. As best I can understand SG's 911 first went to the dispatcher who had to request approval of a duty officer to locate her by satallite. It took 15 minutes to locate the call . The department is structured so that it was 20 to 25 minutes into the call before the call was sent to the proper department, the marine unit (instead of an officer on land and maybe 10 minutes away.) The marine unit is on land and has to travel to their boat to go to oak beach. They reach oak beach, get in a car and drive to the location. Travel time abou 15 minutes. All together one poster said it took them 45 minutes to respond.
One unit responded, advised they could not find the subject, requested additional resources, which ultimately were denied by the county as per the depts protocol. At the next tour (coming on at 9 am) a k-9 officer was dispatched in an attempt to track a scent that could have been 4-5 hours old, which also meant if the woman was wandering aimlessly she would have a 4-5 hour head start. Eventually the aviation section came in and was dispatched. They flew around and saw nothing. 5-6 hours later. The officer wrote a field report. It was written up as an incident.
They say at one point the call was sent to the state police and then back.
There are comments saying the 911 call may be withheld in order to hide the inefficiency of the response. Or other things that might embarrass the department.
I found this all very difficult to follow, but it was quite fascinating to read and I have made this poorly written post just to let you know how hard it is to answer the question "How long did it take them to respond." If anyone is interested the link is:

It seems like Barbara Brennan's call was kept secret a long time. Wasn't mentioned at all on this forum.
