The killers family hasn't raised the "false flag" excuse for his actions. At least not yet.

I have a hard time believing that depression, alcohol and pot use would cause someone to plan out an attack against members of the United States military. There's something more going on that motivated this individual.

SMH. It should be. I feel our POTUS needs to be at the funerals. I do not understand our president's way of thinking. If he can lend support to the funeral of Michael Brown--- he certainly needs to show support to the families of the fallen servicemen !!

As far as the disgusting attacks on our armed forces here in the U.S. ; the enemy appears to be choosing unarmed targets (like the cowards they are) and will probably continue to do so .... Let's ARM THEM !!! It's clear this is going to continue, imo. If not some "lone wolf", then a more brazen and coordinated attack by an armed group of people sympathetic to the views espoused by Muhammed Abdulazeez.

It's infuriating because we are helpless about this. We live in a different state from where this tragedy happened, but would writing to the governor in our state even help ? I believe it takes a presidential order to start arming these military bases and recruitment centers. Will our POTUS consider doing this ?


Eta : I guess Montjoy answered my response. We have some close friends whose young men are in the military ; and it's upsetting that they are not safe even when on their home territory.

This is only my opinion.

That may be so but fortunately all it takes is an Order by the Governor to arm the National Guard. It's sad that we must resort to having our citizen soldiers defend the military on US soil.

On Friday, Gov. Bobby Jindal issued an Executive Order authorizing the Adjutant General of the Louisiana National Guard to identify and arm National Guard personnel at military facilities in order to protect those facilities.

Jindal also issued an Executive Order calling for the flags at all state buildings to be flown at half-staff until July 24, 2015 out of respect for the victims of the Chattanooga, Tennessee terrorist attacks.

Authorities are still searching for answers following a bizarre firefight Sunday between a suspicious person and a security guard patrolling a Tennessee nuclear power plant.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken the reigns of the probe, but so far authorities say they have yet to identify the mysterious man who fired at least two shots at a security guard early Sunday morning next to a facility on the property of the Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar nuclear power plant, about 60 miles southwest of Knoxville.

The FBI is being joined in the investigation by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

According to investigators, a Tennessee Valley Authority security officer was routinely patrolling the nuclear plant at around 2 a.m. Sunday when he located a suspicious person in a restricted area, only a few hundred yards from the protected area that houses the nuclear reactor and power production facilities.

“They spoke for a few seconds. The officer didn't believe there was any danger," TVA spokesman Jim Hopson tells reporters.

In a manner of only seconds, though, things quickly changed. The suspect successfully fled the scene seconds later, says Hopson, but not before exchanging gunfire with the security guard.

Two nights before the attack, he and some friends went joyriding in Abdulazeez's rented gray convertible Ford Mustang, passing through the towns of Whitwell, Dayton and Jasper, TN.

"Fast car on a rainy night. We were flying, doing tight turns and drifting," said the friend, adding that they returned home at about 3 o'clock in the morning.

"He seemed totally normal. We made plans to hang out on the weekend," he said.

TY.. Yes, Watts Bar Nuclear Facility in Spring City, TN is only 20 miles from Dayton, TN; one of the towns visited during the joyride two nights before the attack. I think that the investigation remains unsolved, KevininTO. FBI Knoxville, TN contacted, talked to a special agent and emailed the info.. Hope it helps to connect the dots..

I remember reading the article back in April 2013 and thinking; 'damn that sounds like a terrorist reconnaissance of the Nuclear Facility'..
Ironically the firefight at the Watts Bar Nuclear Facility occurred only about a week before Easter Sunday 2013...

Proxmire stood across from the bullet-riddled Armed Forces Recruiting Center, one of two military sites attacked by the gunman last week. She brushed back a strand of sweat-soaked hair and sobbed. Her son had been dead for barely one day. Around her people were screaming.

“I can’t believe these people even come here to this country!” one woman yelled. “Why do they come here?”

“Because they want to kill us,” a man answered.

The television cameras edged closer to get a tight shot of Proxmire’s tears. The agitated crowd, many of them carrying holstered pistols, wanted to know why the Obama administration and the military weren’t doing more to kill Islamist extremists in Iraq, Syria or wherever they might be. They were furious at a U.S. military policy, enacted during the Clinton administration, that prevents recruiters from carrying firearms while on duty.

It is good to see the local residents fighting back against Islamic Extremism. We could all learn a lesson from these fine citizens of Chattanooga.
