Why would LE ask his mother (or whomever the relative was) to ID him there at the crime scene, instead of somewhere more appropriate and sensitive?
Wouldn't that also technically be a form of contamination of the crime scene?
ETA: IF that happened.
What’s the alternative scenario to explain the relative walking out to the body in the street later that morning?
(Besides the the possibility the neighbor who told this to the press made it up)

The one neighbor said he didn't think Brown was "right in the head".

Maybe Brown is just mentally ill and this will never make sense, the motive is his own internal delusion?
That's what I think. My hunch is he is troubled as in delusional. He might have noticed the boys previously on his wanderings through the neighborhood. At this point, I don't think the perp knew the family from any crime connections.

I think he's mentally "out there," living in his own world in his head. Fantasy is the motivation, imo....but we should know more quickly. LE was on to him fast, which also leads me to believe this isn't a criminally-minded perp, even with the ankle bracelet leading us in that direction. I think he got in trouble in the past because he's beyond odd and does illegal things because of that.

Re the twin in cps...parents might be very stressed (understandably). Maybe it is for respite.,..not for any parental wrong doing. Moo
LE doesn't instantly know what happened. For all they know when arriving at the scene, the other boy is in danger in that home and it's proper to remove him until that is straightened out. I hope it's not more than that.

Oh, this hurts my heart. Poor little boy.

From WFAA reporter @malinibasu_ on Twitter-

This 4y/o boy was found murdered on Saturday am on Saddlerige drive in the Mountain Creek Area in Dallas.

Mom identifies him as Cash Gernon. She says, “Cash was sleeping when he was kidnapped.”

Cash has a twin brother, who mom says, is in state custody now.

Pray for Cash

18y/o Darriynn Brown was arrested by @DallasPD & @FBIDallas on kidnapping, & theft charges.

Authorities say, Brown had an ankle monitoring bracelet on for a prior charge.

Charges at expected to be upgraded.

Wow. Never ceases to amaze me. Was Cash's twin in state custody before or after this? Tell me CPS was not involved before this precious wee one was slaughtered. MOO

The boy being found in the street is a clue, imo, into the mind of the killer. He's not a run-of-the-mill criminal or sex offender. He didn't hide what he did, but left the body in the open in his own residential neighborhood. I think that shows derangement, something completely off. He's lacking the understanding to even hide what he defiled, imo.

I look at his mugshot and he looks disconnected. Neighbors have said they've seen him walking around the neighborhood and I get the feeling he wasn't walking to a destination or for exercise, but just...walking. I bet he noticed things on his walks, like the little boys and he's been thinking about how to get one. Speculation.

Maybe I'm missing something that others are seeing but I'm seeing a random attack by an unhinged perp. I could be all wrong, of course! LE has this case in control, imo, which is a relief.

I just became aware of this case. There are no words. It seems random, but contrarily something is just not lining up.

I have a twin sister. If God forbid something like this had happened to one of us when we were four, the LAST thing we would've needed was to be separated from our parents and home. Not when we already wouldn't be able to process where our twin has gone. Like many of you, this leads me to thoughts I don't want to think. Why isn't the twin with his family when he would need them so much right now? We will find out.

The kidnapping and murder of a child is any parent's absolutely most devastating nightmare. How much more atrocious that this baby's body was found in such a condition right by his home.

The truth will come out. R.I.P. poor sweet Cash and God please help his twin.

Instead of Cash’s mom speaking off-camera yesterday- it was his guardian.

From the article-
“WFAA spoke with a woman off-camera who identified herself as little boy’s mother, though police described her as the boy's guardian. She said the 4-year-old, Cash Gernon, was a "happy-go-lucky" boy.”

I believe there’s much more to the story. Why would a guardian identify herself as a mom to Cash? Is she a foster mom, a friend or relative to Cash, and what is the connection of the alleged kidnapper to Cash or the caregiver?
