A member of a civilian search party found a pair of sunglasses and a knife-cover in a creek north of the city.

It was just after 4:00pm that Jenkins discovered the knife-cover floating in the water.

The creek is less than a mile away from a residence where Shawn Adkins is staying at this time.

"BREAKING: Searcher Finds Knife Cover in Creek 10 Miles North of Hailey Dunn's Colorado City Home 1/7/11

The Colorado City Police called the CBS 7 crew on scene for directions and began an investigation into the potential evidentiary find"

My question would be, why are LE asking directions from the news crew? If something was found during a search shouldn't the LE be contacted before MSM?

Late Friday, Colorado City City Manager Pete Kampfer confirmed authorities were looking at two items discovered in a stream near the home of one of Hailey's family members. Kampfer said someone located oil field glasses as well as a knife sheath. At this point, authorities have no reason to believe they're connected to the case. However, they plan to follow all leads.

I'm thinking the shades/oilfield sunglasses are safety glasses of some sort.

That's so great that the word is getting out. Does anyone know how this happens exactly? For instance, Jonathan Foster's case didn't get nearly the same amount of press as this one or Kyron's. I'm just wondering if it comes down to a lot of people contacting MSM.

not caught up yet, sorry if this has been addressed... imo...
JF missing case was only a few days long and they had the perp within a couple of days, where sadly, Kyron's has dragged on so long

Definately!!! Plus the guy grabbed the sheath out of the water, shouldn't he of left it alone, unless he was just checking to make sure it wasn't some floating trash or something....

okay what the heck are OIL FIELD GLASSES???

have we covered if they had any internet acess there ? maybe stealing wifi from a neighbor for the xbox ? I know my kids did that the 24 hours we were without when we moved ( but our neighbor is our friend, so they knew LOL )

It is not stealing... it must be UNsecured at owner's own settings. I know we leave ours open in case anyone needs it.

Oil field glasses? Velly interesting. Thanks!

I don't think that the knife cover is connect to the case. However do have to say that this is why LE needs let TES come in start an actual legit search. These people aren't really aware of the fact that you do NOT touch potential evidence if you find something during a search and TES teaches you this kind of stuff. Is LE not telling these people this?

12 days in and RSO's are not cleared, car just being taken in? I am just asking, not judging, I may be misunderstanding.
