The people who insisted the 2nd person being interviewed in the white hat was a woman were right, and I was wrong! Her name was Claire Owen and she spoke in Kay Burley's defence. I read that while looking at the pictures linked to in the above post.

Hello! :)

I think perhaps the comments about the 'strange' number plate are referring to an old post where someone said that they had tried searching for it through an insurance site or other and it comes up as non-existent.

Or perhaps Katy, the OP, was going to do some number crunching and tell us what significance 503 had? :)

Sky News reporting that nothing of evidentiary value was found during yesterday's sweep of the river by the sonar boat. It's going out again today. Also "specialist" dogs on boats being deployed.

I am completely humbled and reduced to tears going through the photos of the volunteers risking their lives for this little girl

Just part of the job description I'm afraid. It's what they sign up to do.

Good Morning all, just been catching up on these overnight posts and thank you to everyone for the newspaper updates.

I also have an awful feeling that AJ may never be found, if the river was involved, with the conditions this week, she may be far away by now.

I do hope the police have got their man and that the correct charge will be made today

Thoughts very much with CJ and PJ and all of AJs family, and wishing them strength to cope with whatever happens later today.

A lot of the Mountain Rescue teams are volunteers, as are Cave Rescue teams, they are based all over the UK, so I'm guessing some very flexible employers have given them leave from their regular jobs to assist in the search.

The Lifeboats are also a registered charity.

Although the photos are captioned as being of the River Dyfi, I'm pretty sure from the rocks in the image that this is actually the River Dulas, which runs behind the house that MB rents (Mount Pleasant) and joins the Dyfi close to the pedestrian footbridge. I think the steep slope that LE have been investigating is from the house down to this river.

On a map the Dulas looks little more than a stream, but a man drowned there in 2010, trying to rescue his daughter.

I, like many others here in Wales, are still hopeful that little April will turn up, unharmed. Obviously we are not aware of what the local police know but, in the absence of her body..we surely must assume that she is still alive. Many people believe that more than one person is involved in her abduction...which could be one of Mr Bridgers' many women friends? I hope so...and I pray that she will be returned to her family soon. My admiration for all those who turned out in appalling conditions to search for her is immense. God bless her...wherever she is.

Yes I'm aware of that. A great job they do to.

An interesting post. Obviously our thoughts are going all over the place with this but like you until there is substantial evidence that April is dead then we also believe that she is alive.

Interesting that people are thinking that there is an accomplice. My husband and I for days have been going through all scenarios and unanswered questions and one that keeps coming up is to establish what caused the separation between MB and his girlfriend only a week or so ago? <Mod Snip>
Much of the original witness accounts seem to have MB's ex's name attached to them. I still think the investigation should be concentrated far closer to home than away, as there is still only one unreliable 7 year old's statement of what was seen (which differs entirely to what we have been told), if anything was seen at all...and that child seems to be connected to the ex.

The latest spate of witnesses to come forward seem to be people jumping on a bandwagon, or overly trying to help in some way and unless they said something early on, I can't help but feel that they are not entirely reliable however well intentioned. Especially, for example, as much of MB's apparent behaviour, agitation and erratic driving could also easily be down to a car that's not working properly but seen through a skewed lens may now be seen in a sinister way. Like him wearing camouflage and waterproof trousers which can easily be explained if he was out searching along with everyone else.

There are always three sides to the story: his side, their side and the truth.

If MB is such an obvious suspect then I am baffled as to why there just isn't anything at all coming out about previous questionable behaviour. So the guy has had a few (but what appear to be long term) relationships. He's 46, not 26, so although not ideal that doesn't make him a criminal. It also seems that the women he has had those relationships with have similar histories.

I met my dad for the first time when I was 36. In the meantime, my dad had married and brought up another child and was a responsible father to him. Not seeing me for 36 years doesn't make him a murderer, it makes him an immature and selfish idiot who eventually tried to do better.

If the police have definite forensics linking MB with April's disappearance, then let justice be done.

If not, then goodness knows how they will move forward from this.

I guess we will know more by this evening.

In the meantime, still praying and hoping that April is found safe and well.

P.S. It also seems that MB and his LH drive car was very well known in and around the estate so why on earth wouldn't anyone have just said April just got in MB's car?

Adorabella..May I say you have written some excellent posts. You have a wonderful way of expressing yourself. Thank you!..I am also in agreement of what you have written.

I must say, there have been some pretty varied speculation and theories on her about what might have happened. Inquisitive minds at work eh :)

Obviously we are not aware of what the local police know but, in the absence of her body..we surely must assume that she is still alive.

I understand people wanting to be positive and wishful thinking but I don't think we should ignore that the police obviously have enough evidence to be treating this as a murder inquiry and a search for a body. I would love nothing more than April to be found alive but this is highly unlikely.

Adorabella

I think AJ looks just like her Mum - she's an absolute double of Coral, same face shape, dark eyes, chin etc.

What a thought-provoking post.

It's shortly past 7 a.m. here, and rather than remaining in my warm, cozy bed, I had to check Sky News to see if April has been found. So sorry to learn she is still missing.

I just heard a reporter say that quarries are being searched. The river will be searched some more as well.

For the sake of April's family, I just want this horror to end. Hell on earth probably can only begin to describe what they are going through.

<Mod Snip>
The idea of an accomplice is one I've pondered because, frankly, that is the only scenario in which I can see poor April still being alive. But who would it be, and why conspire with MB to take April?:waitasec:

I agree with you about witnesses who appear a little late in the game, so to speak. While it is certainly possible a witness saw something and only later recognized it's significance and notified officials, I tend to feel these people may be jumping on the bandwagon for their own personal reasons.

I am so puzzled by MB's motive for taking April. Sure, he may be a pedophile, but there has been no indication of prior bad acts on his part. I sense there is a deeper motive involved, but am at a loss of figure out what.

So, along with the rest of you, I'll just wait and watch and pray that April will be brought home, and hope that officials have detained the right man.

May God be with those that search ..........

Amen...

What a harrowing task, wanting to find her, yet not wanting to

Hopefully a lot more people will donate to the charity rescue teams now, whose usual task is to find unprepared walkers and climbers, lost potholers, or people who take unnecessary risks at sea.

I too am humbled by their determination and tenacity.

I have a feeling they're going to have to release this man without charge.. meep.
