Presume the burgundy car was the one spotted near the university where a couple were seen arguing.

The mattress: We know the police took away items of bedding from the upstairs rooms in the local pub when it was extensively searched. There was a story circulating of a mattress/bed being removed on the morning of 19th March but I seem to recall this story came from an individual with his own website (not an official source) so this can't be confirmed.

Imo. Police try to get what a witness sees as close as possible, so on police video the burgyndy car looks like an estate ?

''No arrests were made under the initial investigation – called Operation Cabin – ''
Interesting name for the investigation.

Verrry interesting. WHAT means that??? If I understand well, the first operation was named "Cabin"?

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/cabin

a simple house providing accommodation for travellers or holiday-makers at a motel or holiday camp

a small house or cottage, usu. of simple design and construction

http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/129...ered_to_demolish_home_within_6_months/?ref=ar

THE owner of a timber cabin home built without planning permission in a village near York has been given six months to demolish it.
Lena Banks has lost an appeal against enforcement notices issued by Ryedale District Council for the removal of the two bedroom property on land off Cornborough Road, just outside Sheriff Hutton.

Never I read the expression "cabin home", but now when I'm thinking about "operation cabin" and it's meaning re Claudia's case. In the same newspaper with an article to theme "Claudia". Not enough, there is a white van on the picture of the "cabin home" ...................

From Germany.

I found a large white van on a map (at a related address) and a similar large white van on the industrial estate, parked near Portacabin.

My spelling was off originally, it should have been Portakabin.

I may be wrong, but I thought the police have a list of random words for use as codenames, and they just use the next one on the list.

It seems there is an approved list but police can pick one from the list which must appear neutral. In the case of proactive operations, the name can be matched to the case. This leaves me wondering at the origins of the name for the review of the CL case - Operation Essence. Back to basics?

Mystery man in new footage may be clue to Claudia’s killer

If you look at this (without clicking to start the video), it seems across the street to the right of the entrance door there is standing a figure with dark trousers and bright jacket - same clothing was wearing the man who crossed Heworth Place (along Heworth Road) ca. 2 minutes later from left to right, without looking at the direction of "man returning with bag on shoulder".

When I saw the video before, I thought the man across the street had dark clothing and was at one time holding a bright edged object.

What do you see??

Herbal 'essence'? Hair dye? Wasn't that the brand of hair dye in the bottles on the window?

I can't access the video on the Times link but if you look at the ITV link below, you will see the character in white at 5.17 in a close up. Earlier in the video clip, he is not there but I can see two large hanging baskets at the property which are dark in appearance. When he is there, his white top obscures the hanging basket on the right. He is visible when the mystery man is returning towards Heworth Road, so is not the man in a light jacket who walks from left to right.
So in effect there are 3 people in that clip - and that's not including the 3 who pass from right to left at the very start of the clip! I would expect N.Yorks. Police to have noticed and interviewed the male across the road surely..?

You are right and I have made a mistake before.

Well done FG, it is helpful to scrutinise these cctv clips as you have done and look beyond the obvious. Remember also the clip showing the light coloured Ford Focus in Heworth Road on the morning of the 19th March. At the end of the clip, when it is still, there is a figure on the pavement opposite CLs house. It is only visible when you magnify the screen 4-500% but surely, this person has been seen and eliminated...?

Then it could be, the light coloured Ford Focus was driven by someone who had to put on the brakes because the waiting man to the left wanted to share a ride with him. The Ford parked in reverse (lights in the window across the street) and would be driven away back in the opposite direction (otherwise he would not have to park in reverse, I think). We don't know whether the Ford was on CCTV while driving away. - Can of course be quite harmless. But: IF harmless, then the driver in his own interest had to report to police after calling by police/newspaper. Same with the man who is waiting.

Maybe claudia knew someone that travelled her way to work, so she waited on opposite side of road to flag em down for a lift ?
What does portakabin have to do with claudia ?
