On the Glen Beck program (Headline News network), he mentioned about these two men arrested last week in Ohio, that I had previously not heard about. I looked up the story and in light of today's unravelling of this terroristic plot, it certainly seems relevant.

Two laundered money for Hizbollah: Ohio prosecutor

Thu Aug 10, 2006 1:52pm ET

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Two 20-year-old men arrested in Ohio and found with airport security information and airline passenger lists were being held on Thursday on state charges of money laundering on behalf of Hizbollah, authorities said.

The two men, Ali Houssaiky and Osama Abulhassan, of Dearborn, Michigan, were apprehended during a traffic stop in Marietta, Ohio, on Tuesday.

They had $11,000 in cash, 12 cell phones a map marking Wal-Mart stores from Ohio to South Carolina, in addition to passenger lists and airport information, said a spokesman for the Washington County prosecutor's office. --> more at link

If you can get Beck's show on one of the replays later, imo it's worth tuning in to at least the first 5-10 minutes. Actually his entire program is worth watching.

If this has already been discussed today, my apologies as I just came online.

ETC The two guys were arrested on Tuesday of this week, not last week, as I stated above.
Liz,
Thank-you for the post.:)

24 British-born Muslims arrested as others sought

By JENNIFER QUINN
Associated Press

LONDON — British police said Thursday that they had thwarted a terrorist plot, possibly just days away, to blow up U.S.-bound jetliners over the Atlantic and kill thousands. Chilling accounts leaked by investigators described a plan on the scale of Sept. 11 that would use common electronic devices to detonate liquid explosives concealed in sports-drink bottles to bring down as many as 10 planes in a nearly simultaneous strike.

The bombs were to be assembled on the aircraft apparently with peroxide-based solution and everyday carry-on items such as a disposable camera or a music player, two U.S. law enforcement officials said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because Britain asked that no information be released.

At least one martyrdom tape was found during ongoing raids across England on Thursday, a federal law enforcement official in Washington said. Such a tape, as well as the scheme to strike a variety of targets at roughly the same time, is an earmark of al-Qaida.

British authorities arrested 24 people based partly on intelligence from Pakistan, where authorities detained up to three others several days earlier. More arrests were expected. British officials said the suspects are British-born Muslim men, at least some of Pakistani ancestry. Early today, the Bank of England said it froze the assets of 19 of the 24 suspects arrested Thursday "on the advice of the police and security services."

Five Muslim extremists were still eluding a massive police dragnet late Thursday, spurring concerns that a possible "Plan B" could be set in motion, Newsday reported.

Although authorities said they had "significantly" disrupted the plot, Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff said, "We cannot assume that the threat has been completely thwarted or that we have fully identified and neutralized every member of this terrorist network."

A senior U.S. counterterrorism official said the suspects, whose ages ranged from 17 to the mid-30s, were looking to sneak at least some chemicals on the planes in sports-drink bottles. Teams of at least two or three men were assigned to each flight, the schedules for which they had researched on the Internet, the official said.Targeted were United, American and Continental flights from Britain to major U.S. destinations, which counterterrorism officials said probably included New York, Los Angeles and Washington. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said the individuals plotted to detonate liquid explosive devices on as many as 10 aircraft, ahead of the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In Pakistan, an intelligence official said the arrest of an Islamic militant near that border several weeks ago played a role in "unearthing the plot." more at link:http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4109924.html

Hey Mag,
You are right, this should be a headline.

Hi there dark shadows! :)

You know, finding out that one of the terrorists was employed by Heathrow airport (if this report proves to be correct) should be a big ole red flag to all airlines that they really need to look into their current employees and check out future employees much closer.

It's more than just a little scary to know that they are hiring the enemy to check in our bags and load them on the plane. Not only that but they had even given the guy a high level clearance badge if the report is correct.

Thanks for posting those pictures of the missing Egyptians. I don't care what they say, I cannot for a second believe that these 11 guys came here for an all expenses paid vacation to visit their family.

Hi Liz! :D Maybe once they get it confirmed somebody will start shouting about it, ya think?

Hiya magpie! :) Yes, you'd think so! Then again, they may not want to cause too much panic amongst the flying public.

Magpie, it was reported a little while ago on Fox and Friends. There is hope! ;)

ETA: Oh my gosh, Mag! Fox and Friends just discussed your 'false bottle bottom' theory! I think they're reading here as I sent them the link when I emailed them yesterday!

OK....here we go....the whole mess just got more complicated! Female, pregnant, Asian and in pajamas....who would have thunk?:(

The youngest of the terror suspects arrested in the raids was a heavily pregnant woman from Hackney, London. The Asian woman was taken by police handcuffed and still wearing pyjamas from a top floor flat in Denver Road.....

ETA: after reading the article, I understand now why she was in her PJs...at first I thought she was wearing her PJs in the airport! Going to get coffee now, so I can wake up....:blushing:

You are much too kind, thank you.

I just have a perverted desire to torture myself. I try to keep from reading over there...and then slowly start reading again and after a couple of days of letting stuff just lie there unchallenged, I lose it and post again.

I need to start knitting or something.

Thank you again, I needed to hear this today!
Karole28........Oh my, my......I have to get a new hobby "myownself".
I just had to post something in the PP pages this morning. I must be loosing my mind. But, it was about something Cal had said previously about "if planes came our way again...would we have to be woken up to notice" not in those words.....but we were joking that night. Then yesterday...with the major plane issue.... It came to be that what we were saying actually happened. TA DA......but, .......wow, things are said.......not nice, accepting things......Think I will get in the pool, paint or take a fast boat ride. No more PPg's......for me.......lalalalalallllllllllllla Happy Days ahead.

So, how do we know who to be concerned about?
That is what is so scary, WE DON'T! It could be anyone, inside America, outside America, wasn't the shoe bomber guy a white guy, or look like a white guy..I don't recall.....women, children, asian, muslim, english, FLIPPIN' AMERICANS, it could be anybody....look at some of the people arrested here in the last few years, Americans, I remember one guy looked like a rocker type, someone I woulda hung out with as a teen....he was a college student, who decided to work for AlQuida or however the H-E-double hockey sticks ya spell it. The # of terrorist groups poping up in our prisons here is astounding. HEre is an article I recently read relating http://www.adl.org/learn/Ext_Terr/dangerous_convictions.asp

You can't know who it will be, there are too many, from all different backgrounds.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Terrorism/story?id=2300460&page=1&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312

It was a different kind of terror plot, as devious as it was dangerous.
The terrorists wouldn't board with bombs. They would board with seemingly harmless household ingredients that wouldn't make a security agent blink.

These explosive fluids could pass for hair gel, fit in a tube of toothpaste, and detonate with the flash of a disposable camera.

The potential weapons would be assembled onboard and ignited in an attempt to kill hundreds in one strike.

In this case, the specific plan was to conceal a liquid bomb ingredient — acetone peroxide, also called the "Mother of Satan."

It would be dyed the color of the beverage at the bottom of a drink container.

This peroxide-based explosive is the same substance reportedly used by London subway bombers just over one year ago.

The top of the bottle would contain the original beverage, allowing terrorists to even drink from the bottle if questioned by security.

A co-conspirator on the same flight, another terrorist, would bring the detonator — in this case the filament found in a disposable camera's bulb.

The 24 terror suspects, now in British custody, allegedly planned to set off explosives on up to 10 cross-Atlantic flights, tearing them to pieces midair.
