I think you are right, but what if he thought he saw the woman he was accused of abducting, but then, there she is, right there. Vindicated!
Then what would he do? Abduct her and take her back to VA to prove he didn't do anything to her (thereby committing the crime of which he was accused?)
Actually, he didn't do that did he? Maybe that says something.
If he thought it could possibly be HG, a one in a million chance, and he knew he didn't kill her, is there any way on earth he would drive on to his tent?
