Questioning- includes interview as well. Consent by suspect or witness is given at that time. Miranda would be read and if waived. ..Reasons of waving Miranda rights can be due to person in question willingly gave information without lawyer present or person believing they are not free to leave.

Arrest- probable cause is a must. Which then you would appear before a magistrate that decides whether the probable cause is a valid offense.

Booking- is after an arrest and charges are filed.

Regarding time stamps.. The media could have always played a part in the editing .. IMO

Thanks for this explanation, it is so helpful! Do you know at what point the mug shot would be taken? Because NK sure went from flouncy and animated to sullen and detached between the booking video and the mug shot. What would have happened in between? Maybe she spoke with her parents? Learned she wouldn't be able to leave? Something else?

Her mugshot would have been taken after she was booked and informed on what she was being charged with. She then would have been escorted to her jail cell. On certain occasions though.. a person can be immediately put into a holding unit due to the delay of information being put into the computer system ... So basically her mugshot could have been taken a few hours after she had already been locked up.

I know. NK wasn't in any potential trouble for having an inappropriate relationship with a minor. I think perhaps she thought she could help her friend, DE, because he had helped her at some point by helping her with the math she was having trouble with, and for taking her to the emergency room when she had appendicitis. I think she was intrigued with his situation and dilemma, maybe that was the initial "excitement" and then the "secretiveness" of his situation. She never thought for some reason that she was part of the crime she was helping him with. Just my opinion. Still can't believe they actually abducted the girl and then went through with the plan to stab her to death and dump her body, then return to their dorms like nothing happened! So strange, sick, and creepy.

Didn't Eisenhauer throw a beer against a dorm wall after returning from murdering Nicole and dumping her body? He must have figured out pretty quick that they did not commit the perfect crime! Maybe he looked at whatever app they were communicating by (KIK?) and saw that he was clearly the last one to communicate with Nicole? Or, he really thought he had committed the perfect crime and that's why he didn't flee?

Yes, this was my immediate observation too. She bounced into the video, looking very carefree and full of excited energy. The mug shot - not so much. lol

video I had not seen yet. This video cites leopold And loeb just like fellow WS'ers.

NL case discussion is first segment FYI so you don't have to search in case you want to view. [emoji5]

Oh wow! This is a great interview and great questions that we have all been asking! A must watch if you can! Haayturtle :yourock:

* If it is proven Keepers was aiding and abetting Eisenhauer, she can most definitely be charged with Murder 1.
* NL's father should not really be speaking out at this point because it is still a very active investigation and he could give away information unintentionally that might help the defense. :banghead:

I have to listen to this again! Thanks Haayturtle!

Yeah, I heard somewhere on here (WS) about DE returning to his dorm room and throwing a beer against the wall. But where did that info come from? I don't think it was a credible source. Someone else on here pointed out that DE probably din't even drink alcohol. We don't know. We do know he came from a very Christian background, and he was a serious athlete, but really don't know if he partook in the usage of drugs or alcohol. In my opinion, I don't think he did. His roomate at the college said he came back late and that was not like him. I don't know if he meant that DE only came back late on one night or if there were a few nights like that, but it was out of character. I believe his roommate also said he didn't think DE had a girlfriend and he never mentioned Nicole. The roommate said DE was a hard person to understand, but I'm not sure what he meant by that statement. Did he mean that DE was a hard person to read emotionally? I wish we did know how DE behaved after the murder. Perhaps more info will come out as this case moves forward.

The beer against the wall came from the Orly guy post on Facebook. I'm taking that whole write up with a grain of salt.

Wishing as always that the punishment could fit the crime. Maybe that's wrong ?
Wonder what sort of things were texted/called to Nicole that lured her from her house ? :(

Just jumping in here ; and will do some more reading here at WS tonight.
I hate it that the defense will use something hurtful to the deceased girl's family-- like she sneaked willingly out of her house to meet up with her soon-to-be-murderer ; and so the killers were somehow less at fault ? (gag)

FGS, she was 13 years old. She was someone's babygirl. Still a kid ; imo.
Hoping justice is as harsh as possible !
:moo:

Rest gently, Nicole !

Correct, former journalist who is NOT a credible source. Many of the claims in that post regarding crime scene and the blanket were proven false. Don't even get me started on this guy [emoji13]

Oh yes! Thank you! It's all coming back to me now... I wish we would get more information about DE, but probably not until trial. He probably didn't partake in alcohol if he was heavily influenced by his Christian upbringing. And athletes, particularly runners and bicyclists, don't they abstain from other extracurricular activities that might affect their performance in a race? He and Keepers are both strange. She sang like a canary and he gave us nothing. The evidence will speak for itself in the end.

Well stated! That's what I am scared of too - defense blaming the victim! That's one reason at this point I think this may not be a death penalty case - depending on the defense's story. Yes, she was just an innocent kid who didn't deserve to be murdered.

agreeeeeeeeeee

It's obvious by looking at NL's social media that she was unknowingly throwing prime bait out for a predator to snatch on to. IMO the defense can say what they may as an excuse. -- I hate even saying this, but if rape would have been the only scenario.. the defense could try to prove and say she was so called "asking for something to happen"..... but to intentionally kill someone...by stabbing... get real?!?!!!!! The method used to murder NL speaks volumes.

At this link you will see the booking process:
http://wset.com/news/local/video-eisenhauer-and-keepers-booked-in-montgomery-county#
Scroll Down on this page and look in the left margin. There is another longer video of Keepers. It appears that after they had her take off her boots and socks they actually patted her down, let her put her boots back on and she goes into the room on the left of the desk.
This longer video is titled:
BHDN_NA-49FR_VA_TEEN MURDERED-KEEPERS BOOKED (NEW VIDEO)_CNNA-ST1-1000000003285f62_174_0

This is a longer video of NK. It definitely changes my opinion. The shorter version stopped right at the smirk/smile and I was like wow, this girl is a sociopath. But in this video, it appears the bald officer is telling a joke at the time NK smirks/smiles because right after this the female officer busts out laughing. So possibly NK was responding to this instead of trying to flirt like was thought earlier. I do agree she appears nonchalant and not bothered, which is disturbing. Maybe she is trying to act like she has nothing to be worried about since she hasn't been questioned yet. It's hard to tell.

I was also surprised by the somewhat jovial mood of the uniformed officers in both DE's and NK's videos.

These things probably become routine to officers. It is amazing the terrible things they see. It sounds unbelievable but it's how officers and firefighters cope. Just like medical personnel in the middle of a code(CPR) in the hospital. It's not uncommon to see smiles, jokes, etc, although they are working, doing their best to save the patient. It's routine and part of coping.

A 13 year old cannot consent to sex, and it doesn't matter how 'provocative' she may have sounded in word or deed. That behavior alone doesn't excuse the killer and it absolutely won't fly in the courtroom. It's illegal in every state. The defense will know better than to go there. A 13 year old cannot 'lure' an adult into doing something illegal, that too will fail as an excuse.

The defense's only recourse is to try and claim their client is mentally ill or was insane, but that's risky and not easy to prove. They're both going down for this murder, no doubt about it. The only mystery will be if one or both are going to have the DP on the table.

What struck me most in the booking video was just how young these 2 really are. They are like little birds without feathers. I can not imagine being punished forever for anything I did at age 18. Three emotionally disturbed young people crossed paths and one was murdered by the other 2. It is tragic all the way around.

The reality of the consequences of their actions are just now starting to settle in as they sit in jail with not the slightest bit of control over any aspect of their life, looking into an abyss of prison for decades. Three lives are over before they really started and it is just sad.

Tonight I feel pained for all the victims, perpetrators and their families. Broken minds, broken hearts, broken lives. Sadness everywhere.

I totally agree. The crime they committed is heinous, but I found it painful to see the video because they look like two kids themselves. DE was especially hard because he looks like he is taking seriously. How in the world did they fall so hard and fast?! The waste of these three young lives is PAINFUL.
